Great getaway property. Close to town yet feels very secluded. Great sights and sounds.
Our family truly enjoyed this beautiful home, it was extremely clean and comfortable. It was decorated with live edge wood slab through out, this was something I had never seen before. We saw elk and deer feeding right outside the huge windows. We enjoyed the sauna, hot tub and fire pit as well as the trail behind the home. It’s very close town as well so we were able to ride the bikes to town and back through the trials.
It’s one of the nicest and spacious places I have ever stayed at with my family.
It was truly a pleasure to host your family and share the deer and elk sightings. Elk are so normal as to not appear special, but the deer are rare indeed! We hope you come again!!
Great large cabin
We typically rent a smaller cabin, but we were staying in Packwood for a longer period of time with 3 kids. So we sought out a cabin with a large living space and dining area. This cabin was perfect. The kids enjoyed the woods and us parents enjoyed the hot tub and sauna. We will definitely recommend this cabin.
BEAUTIFUL cabin!! Our favorite by far!!
This is my third time staying here and I plan to return every year. Not only is this cabin absolutely beautiful, seriously the detail of the decor is just wonderful, but it is large, comfortable, CLEAN, and has wonderful amenities. The dining table is large enough to seat everyone, the living room is perfect for playing games or sitting by the fire. There’s a smart TV so movie options are fantastic. The view from the hottub is beautiful green trees with the sound of the nearby river. The sauna and/or the horrible are perfect for warming up after a long day or skiing- white pass is only 25 minutes away! And Marilly is just wonderful to work with. STAY HERE you will not be disappointed. It’s just a gem!
Dear AC, thank you for taking the time to write such a nice, long review. I appreciate you taking good care of the house and property, and we look forward to seeing you again.
A Great Winter
We rented the Rainier view lodge for about 5 weeks. Everything went great. Wonderful hosts, and a short drive up to White Pass.
10/10 would rent again.
Rainier View Lodge is 7 miles from Mt. Rainier National Park, and an easy day trip to Mt. St. Helens, surround by William O Douglas, Goat Rocks and Tatoosh Wilderness Areas, where you can disappear all day with an endless banquet of choices. White Pass Scenic Byway (Highway 12), 'Playground of Volcano Country', is a veritable smorgasbord of brown recreation signs where you can satisfy your activity appetite every season of the year with fishing, boating, wind surfing, hang-gliding, swimming, hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, mountain bikes, geocaching, birding and much, much more.
Rainier View Lodge is just .3 of a mile east of downtown Packwood, WA en route to White Pass Ski Area, just 17-18 miles away. So embark on an adventure of natural scenic delights and wildlife so abundant, you will wonder if you are driving through the heart of a wildlife preserve. Elk appear a natural extension of the downtown landscape. Packwood is considered the dream of recreational enthusiasts, and White Pass Ski Area has great family skiing (downhill & cross country), snowshoeing and snowboard programs, terrain for all ages, and all in stunningly beautiful surroundings. In 2011, White Pass expanded by adding 767 acres, including 2 additional ski lifts, 18 new ski trails, and a mid-mountain lodge.
About Marilly Morton
Fred, as a teacher, is a life time learner. His passion is family, reading and sports. Marilly has a passion for family, birds, photography and traveling, visiting Nicaragua, The Netherlands, Germany & Italy. We both visited Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, Switzerland, Aruba, Vancouver Island & Victoria BC, and Fred managed a sailing trip to Belize with our oldest son. To keep the international flavor in our home, we hosted exchange students including: two German, two Japanese, two Koreans, and one Colombian. Besides our four vacation rentals, we own 2 Subway stores (in Portland, OR).
Marilly Morton purchased this Lodge in 2008
Why Marilly Morton chose Packwood
We love the mountains, and Packwood is very like Switzerland, only the mountains are smaller and farther apart. It is in the center of Gifford Pinchot Nat'l Forest, 7 miles from the southern entrance to Mt. Rainier Nat'l Park, and surround by Tatoosh, William O Douglass, and Goat Rocks Wilderness areas. There is a constant flow of wildlife including: elk, coyotes, raccoon, fox, black bear, bald eagles, beaver and more, and year round recreational activities.
What makes this Lodge unique
I enjoy being outside in the hot tub under a star studded sky with wood smoke on the wind from the fire pit while elk pass by, what a combination! Throwing snowballs from the hot tub in the midst of winter made for a great memory and photo shoot. Indoors offers every comfort from home and even more with a far infrared sauna to soothe tired muscles. I never tire of watching the many faces of Mt. Rainier or the elk and birds at the Lodge. It's a great place for dreaming!
