Casa Sueños (House of Dreams) is a magical escape into a Fairy Tale setting. This cedar log home is surrounded by woods.
Every morning birds will sing you wake up songs. Gorgeous wood peckers can be seen from the wrap-around deck. The sun rises through the trees into the master bedroom.
At night, the stars shine through the sky light. There is no more romantic setting... yet it's great to share with lots of family and friends as well.
Casa is just 10 minutes from the beautiful Main St. in Highlands, yet it's cozy and tucked away in the woods. You will absolutely love it and return often. Guaranteed!

My friend Patricia San Pedro and and I share this piece of heaven that we call Casa Sueños. Patricia and I were wandering down Main Street in Highlands and got curious about what the area had to offer. We walked into a realtor and asked what they had in mountain log cabins with fireplaces. Casa Sueños was the first property they showed us and it was love at first sight. We didn't plan to buy but we left the proud owners and have been loving it ever since. My daughter Sylvia, shown next to her very proud dad, has grown up with many great trips to the cabin with the beauty and charm that is Highlands.
Karl Ellins purchased this cabin in 2005
Getting up to the cabin is quick and easy for us with a 2 hour flight into Atlanta from Miami and then an easy drive to Highlands. As easy as it is to get to it seems a million miles away once you get there.
We have the best of both worlds with Main Street less than 10 minutes away and the solitude of the cabin. Highlands is a great little town with lots to offer including great restaurants, shopping, art, culture, all with a friendly atmosphere.
-walked into a very clean, fully stocked cozy cabin
-5 hours of white, powdery snow fell during which our family had a blast throwing snowballs and relaxing in the hot tub
-Glen Falls was spectacular! Our family enjoyed it right before it began to rain!!
-Whiteside Mountain day after it snowed was a winter wonderland with a breathtaking view!
-At Mountain Fresh Grocery we loved the freshly made donuts and gourmet burgers
-the Bear theme and all the decorative accents in the cabin were adorable!!!
Truly a Casa de Sueños!!!
Thank you Dr. Ellins and Melanie! You are a blessing to a family that really needed a heavenly vacation!!!!
God bless you!!!
This cabin is what I consider a cut above your average rental in the mountains. It is well kept, well appointed, and is in a very secluded setting. Time and attention has been spent to decorate it, each day you notice some nick knack or wall hanging, odd lamp, carved chairs, etc. that you hadn't seen before. Highlands is kind of unique to the Southeast, in that there is a gorge with impressive waterfalls. Coming from Oregon years ago, I can't think of another Southeast area that outdoes the beauty. The town itself is touristy, but seems to have higher end shops than what you see in Gatlinburg, etc.
My family had a great time at Casa Suenos! It was very clean, convenient (5 min) to Highlands, and well equipped. The hot tub was wonderful and a treat to come back to after zip lining in the cold! Karl, the owner, was super helpful and patient with all of my questions. We highly recommend this cabin!
As usual, Karl made sure everything was perfect for us. You will be hard pressed to find a cabin as cozy, well-stocked and authentic as this (especially with owners so pleasant to deal with). Five minutes tops from downtown Highlands but very secluded and quiet. A great wrap around porch with rocking chairs, double swing and, my favorite...a nice, large (well-maintained) hot tub!!. I love this place and will be coming back for a third stay as soon as possible. Thank you!
We picked the perfect location for a mountain get-away! The house was pristine, well equipped, so very clean, and in a great location. We loved the hot tub and the fact that so many beautiful trails were within a short distance. Karl made communication so easy and was accessible over the weekend if we needed help around the house! Such a perfect weekend!
Our family, consisting of 4 adults and 3 children stayed for a long weekend in this beautiful cabin. I cannot say enough about how beautiful it is structurally, but how tastefully it was decorated and every detail thought through to make our stay A+++++++ and more! The scenery was spectacular, the leaves were changing and it was a great experience for our grandchildren as they grabbed a pile and threw them up in the air...hiking in the woods...sitting in the hot tub on a freezing morning...sitting by the fireplaced or out by the fire pit were all things they will remember doing with grandma and grandpa and this cabin provided the staging for a memorable get away. I recommend a stay here for rest and relaxation and would love to book again when we head back through at another time.
From the onset, Karl's service and responsiveness gave us a good vibe. When we arrived we were so pleased with everything the cabin had to offer and the attention to detail and the upkeep the cabin seemed to be receiving. Clean, organized, everything you need (we were trying to make a smoothie one morning and were shocked they even had a blender in the pantry we could use). From the property perspective, it was one of those times when you say to yourself "the pictures did not do it justice." We are already planning on a return trip in the summer! Thanks Karl.
