Highlands Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 10 which includes sleeper/sofa in living ro)

Casa Sueños (House of Dreams) is a magical escape into a Fairy Tale setting. This cedar log home is surrounded by woods.

Every morning birds will sing you wake up songs. Gorgeous wood peckers can be seen from the wrap-around deck. The sun rises through the trees into the master bedroom.

At night, the stars shine through the sky light. There is no more romantic setting... yet it's great to share with lots of family and friends as well.

Casa is just 10 minutes from the beautiful Main St. in Highlands, yet it's cozy and tucked away in the woods. You will absolutely love it and return often. Guaranteed!

About Karl Ellins

My friend Patricia San Pedro and and I share this piece of heaven that we call Casa Sueños. Patricia and I were wandering down Main Street in Highlands and got curious about what the area had to offer. We walked into a realtor and asked what they had in mountain log cabins with fireplaces. Casa Sueños was the first property they showed us and it was love at first sight. We didn't plan to buy but we left the proud owners and have been loving it ever since. My daughter Sylvia, shown next to her very proud dad, has grown up with many great trips to the cabin with the beauty and charm that is Highlands.

Karl Ellins purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Karl Ellins chose North Carolina Mountains

Getting up to the cabin is quick and easy for us with a 2 hour flight into Atlanta from Miami and then an easy drive to Highlands. As easy as it is to get to it seems a million miles away once you get there.

What makes this cabin unique

We have the best of both worlds with Main Street less than 10 minutes away and the solitude of the cabin. Highlands is a great little town with lots to offer including great restaurants, shopping, art, culture, all with a friendly atmosphere.

Highlights:

-walked into a very clean, fully stocked cozy cabin

-5 hours of white, powdery snow fell during which our family had a blast throwing snowballs and relaxing in the hot tub

-Glen Falls was spectacular! Our family enjoyed it right before it began to rain!!

-Whiteside Mountain day after it snowed was a winter wonderland with a breathtaking view!

-At Mountain Fresh Grocery we loved the freshly made donuts and gourmet burgers

-the Bear theme and all the decorative accents in the cabin were adorable!!!

Truly a Casa de Sueños!!!

Thank you Dr. Ellins and Melanie! You are a blessing to a family that really needed a heavenly vacation!!!!

Escape the summer heat!!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time at Casa Suenos! So private yet close to town...fully stocked with a beautiful wooded view from the decks and hot tub. Furnishings were lovely and the cool porch was a great relief from our hometown summer heat. We loved the hikes nearby and the Botanical Garden in HIGHLANDS...LOTS of restaurant choices. Great for any type of getaway! We have told our friends and they are booking as well...Thank you for sharing your space, Karl !

Quiet in the Mountains

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a cabin that is "away from everything, but close enough so you don't have to cook every night" this is your place. We chose this cabin with the full intent of taking in the gorgeous scenery all around. But to be quite honest, we were so tired, and the cabin was so lovely, that we stayed in a majority of the time! My husband and daughter had some mean games of Monopoly, Tic-Tac-Toe and the hot tub was usually occupied. The only problem we had was the WIFI speed and sometimes going down - but Karl was always on it and did the best he could!

Girls Spa Weekend!!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I stayed at Casa Suenos for a spa weekend and we were so pleased with this cabin that we want to come back each quarter to stay at this beautiful place. Karl made it so comfortable and he was so easy to reach. When we had a problem lighting the fireplace...wasn't a problem with the fireplace, we were the problem! He stayed on the phone until we got it lit. Everything about this cabin is beautiful and cozy! I can't think of staying anywhere else...Thank you Karl, we will be back.

PERFECT in every way!

  • 5 of 5

A short getaway for my husband and me. The cabin was beautifully decorated. Very spacious! A lot of house for 2 people but still cozy. It was a home away from home. All of the amenities and more. Everything you could possibly need was readily available. Sitting in the hot tub, you could hear the waterfalls. Total relaxation! The bedroom had a fireplace which was quite warm and cozy. Bed was comfortable and at night you could see the stars via the sky light above bed! Secluded yet just a skip and hop the to the shops and dining in Highlands! Wish I could have stayed longer.goid communication with owner. He was prompt with replies and genuinely interested if our expectations were met. Will definitely return.

Trip to the mountains..

  • 5 of 5

Unfortunately for a family emergency we had to leave as soon as we got to the cabin.. Luckily it all turned out to be okay, but we missed out on a spectacular cabin.. I was only able to walk in and imagine sitting by the huge fireplace with a roaring fire and sipping a hot cup of coffee.. It is a really cozy and comfortable cabin and Karl could not be more accommodating.. The town of Highlands is a really cool little berg and we will certainly be back to explore when we get the time..
