They kept the house and beach very clean! We loved it! We would love to go back. It was a very humid week so air would have been nice at night. But because it was warm the lake was perfect! Highly recommend this house!!
Our family of five thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Jacksonport cottage in October. The cottage was very clean, quite comfortable, and quiet! The gorgeous view of Lake Michigan from the family room picture window was priceless! Venturing outdoors with a cup of coffee and ample adirondack seating to choose from, watching the sunrise from the lake's horizon was the perfect way to start the day. Walking along the shore greeting a few walkers and friendly dogs while enjoying the fresh air and lapping sounds of the lake, was just another great way to begin the day.
Only a 15-minute drive to Sister Bay, where we were lucky to witness a breathtaking subdued rainbow streaked sunset and also visited the goats on the roof of Al Johnson's. We took a detour off the regular route to Ephraim and found a roadside wagon loaded with a variety of pumpkins and gourds and the kids were thrilled. All-you-can eat soup lunch at the Summer Kitchen was delicious and then we headed to Red Putter for mini-golf, which was very reasonable for the entire family and of course fun! Also, enjoyed an afternoon of leisurely driving through Door County while stopping for the occasional outdoor markets and to take pictures of the beautiful fall foliage.
The cottage felt like home, beds were comfy, bathroom updated and clean, plenty of games to play with family in the evening, and a variety of birds to view out back with the occasional crafty squirrels stealing seeds. We would love to visit the cottage again in the future!
Me and my family; my wife, 11 year-old daughter and 7 month year-old daughter, all traveled to Wisconsin from Southern Illinois to be on the beach on the waters of Lake Michigan for a week during the middle of July. It was 95 at home with a heat index of 105 and the high for the entire week in Jacksonport was 73. Loved it!
This cottage was great for our needs. It was right on the beach (30 yards) with a beautiful view of the water from the kitchen and living area. Made it easy to let our daughter play on the beach without constant supervision. Loved burning fires almost every night. The wood and rock pit (also on the beach) were included in our stay. Needed it, since a couple nights the low was 55...in July!
Close to everything. Our longest drive was 30 minutes. We were 15 from Egg Harbor, 30 from Sturgeon Bay, 10 from Bailey's Harbor, etc.
The highlights of our stay were: The Renard's Cheese factory and tour, our fishing charter with Hooked-Up Charters (we caught TONS of fish and left Wisconsin with over 100 lbs in Salmon fillets), and the Dairy View Country store (also 15 min. away).
The price is reasonable, the beach is great (albeit fairly cold water even in July. Don't worry, the west side of the peninsula, towards Green Bay, was 10 or so degrees warmer on average and only 15 min. away at Egg Harbor), the fires were awesome, and the inside was nice. Looked at the Michigan side of the lake, but prices were higher and sights were further away. Also, we really wanted to do the fishing charter and couldn't be happier with that choice!
The cabin and the location were everything we were expecting. The location was perfect for us as it was very close to a few awesome parks and a lighthouse. It was also away from the traffic and people in fish creek and egg harbor but yet close enough to easily get there. We had awesome sunrises every morning! We would definitely come back here again. Door County is a beautiful area with so much to see and do!
Our only complaint was that the mosquitos were bad by the lake and that we were very disappointed in the golf course that we played at. Other than that our trip was perfect.
We had a really nice stay at Cedar Shores! Our toddler loved playing on the beach with all the provided beach toys and the great Little Tykes slide! Unfortunately, the water was a bit too cold to really swim, despite it being August! The long winter was probably to blame. The adults enjoyed trying out the provided standing paddle board and we at least could stick our feet in the water. Everything in the house was clean and very nice. The only problems we had was the smell of dog in the furniture and the road was a little too busy to comfortably walk or bike on. The beach was also not as walkable as we would have liked. But those things might not bother everyone! Sitting out on the beach (right out the door!) to take in the beauty of the Lake was by far the best thing about this place! And you can't beat the Town Hall Bakery, just a mile down the road!
We immediately felt right at home and very comfortable. The kitchen was great - had everything you would need to make meals, etc. Beds were comfy, and the family room was a nice place to relax with a good book. Great location on the quiet side! Great view of the lake, loved being able to hear the waves. Definitely would rent this again!
