Villa Diaria is a magical place. The house is fully equipped and beautifully decorated. It has a very comfortable layout, with three large bedrooms, plus Living room, Dining room and a library. The kitchen has it all to cook with all utensils and tableware, including dishwasher and washing machine.
The gardens, “GARDENS” are a relaxing therapy. Between the maze, the play ground with swing and seesaw, the flowers and trees, one could spend hours just walking back and forth through the place.
A high point was the Diaria family, caring and attentive with all our needs. The suggestions and advices were most valuable and the first day meal with some groceries in the refrigerator was a kind treat.
In general this home was a real relaxing and refreshing experience.
We loved it! Convenient location, just a quick drive to Pisa, and Lucca, and only an hour or so to Cinque Terre. Livorno is a few minutes away for grocery shopping. Don't miss on the opportunity to get a chef (recommended by the owner) to come to the villa to prepare a fabulous meal one evening! That was a highlight of our stay! Cecilia, many thanks again for sharing your family's lovely home!
Vila Diara was the perfect choice for our home base near Pisa and Florence, yet set in a quieter, scenic seaside town with so much to offer. The home itself provided extensive space for the 3 couples in our group. We spent much time in the dining room, parlor and outdoor spaces gathered enjoying the views of the sea. The owners were so friendly and spoke English which made asking questions and getting recommendations a breeze. They also went out of their way to provide us home made lasagna and other dishes and put fruit and croissants in the kitchen for our arrival. We enjoyed these dishes twice which was so nice having ate out so much during our stay. The location also allowed us to explore Montenero and walk to the market and cafe each day which was a real treat - I've never seen better produce in my life than I did at the local markets near the home. Our trip would not have been as magical or successful touring Tuscany had we not chosen Vila Diara and its owners for our home base. Thank you so much for opening your home, preparing us delicious food and providing us with tremendous recommendations including the beach we spent our last day at. If we are fortunate enough to return to Tuscany we will definitely try to stay in this home again and create more memories.
Maybe you don't think about a trip to toscany during wintertime, but we (3 couples, 45...50y of age) made this choice and selected a beautiful Villa near Livorno.
What a scenic place, what an extraordinary house and really nice people "hosting" our visit!
The Villa was fully equipped to welcome the guests also during wintertime. although it was pretty cold (quite normal during this time of the year) the heating system and the fire place made the house cosy and warm. The kitchen (important for us 6 hobby cooks) is fully equipped and the Iper Coop 10 min. away by car made logistics easy.
The garden is beautifull and since it was sunny all week long we spent quite a few moments outside enjoying the marvellous view to the sea. We got a nice "Food and Drinks starter kit", a very nice gesture when you arrive late the first day.
Special thanks also to Alberto and Nicolo for the support and the hints they gave.
This Villa is for sure a good recommendation also in wintertime. Several nice cities worthwhile to visit (Livorno, Lucca, Pisa, Volterra, Firenze...) are quite near.
Best regards from Germany,
the 6 Cooks.
We had a wonderful stay at Villa Diara. Cecilia could not have been a better hostess, even leaving us her homemade ragu and a wonderful eggplant lasagne. The location in Montenero is enough off the beaten path to be restful, but close enough to the major cities for great site seeing and gastronomic delights! We highly recommend staying there. You will fight over which room you want — the one with the great views, or the one with the fantastic bathroom adjacent. If you want the flavor of Italy at the pre-WWII, this is it. Kids would find this to be nirvana. Something out of the Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe where they can explore the grounds without parents worrying they will stray off the property. Gorgeous!
We just came back from our trip in Italy and stayed in this beautiful house for the time we visited Tuscany. The house is AMAZING!! Nicely furnished and convenient, fully equipped, full of history and charm this 1900 mansion stands on the hills of Montenero and looks over the Tyrrhenian Sea ! You can enjoy the stunning view from your bedroom window or even better in the gorgeous garden while sipping your morning coffee! Take a morning walk in the gardens surrounding the house and enjoy the fresh and clean air far from the hustle and the city noise! Night time, have a glass of wine outside stargazing or simply admiring the city lights! This house has so much to offer! The location is perfect. Close to Livorno you have the perfect spot for day trips to Florence, Pisa, Lucca and even the Cinque Terre ! Do not miss to visit the Sanctuary nearby with its famous Madonna di Montenero.
The owners were great! C. and A. are truly amazing! They made our stay more than perfect! We arrived late evening and we were welcomed with a smile and home made spaghetti sauce and a bottle of champagne! A. D., who we already kind of a knew from the pictures in the Villa, gave us an amazing Tour in Livorno and we had great time in his company! Thank you A.D, we had a blast!
The only regret we have is that we couldn’t stay longer! However we will most probably come back!
Thank you, A. and C. for sharing your beautiful house and your time with us! Hope we meet again!
P.S: I am sorry, I had to revise my review and replace owner's names with initials only.
