Robyn and Chuck purchased this house in 1995
Hawk is located on 1,200 pristine acres in the heart of Vermont's breathtaking Green Mountains, Hawk has created one of the most peaceful and unspoiled family-friendly Vermont resorts in the world. Luxurious houses are nestled in these ancient wooded peaks for maximum privacy and exposure to nature.
President Calvin Coolidge, who loved to stroll the very same woods in which Hawk villas are now artfully concealed, once wrote: 'There is healing in the trees for tired minds. And for overburdened spirits, there is strength in the hills.'
At Hawk, the Black River Valley's mountain lakes and surrounding hiking trails come alive with residents and guests anxious to take advantage of Vermont's richest treasure - the great outdoors. The crystal clear waters of Lake Amherst host the Hawk fleet of boats for kayaking, canoeing and water cycling, as well as our 'Rave' water trampoline.
Relax on the terrace of the Hawk Spa, complete with a twenty-meter outdoor pool. Vent your competitive spirit on the tennis courts, or let Hawk chauffeur you to any of seven nearby championship golf courses. Mountain and touring bikes are always available for a day's excursion and perhaps a picnic at a favorite spot. Even if you have never cradled a fishing rod in your hand, try fly-fishing at one of the secluded trout-filled streams in the area. Stroll in the solitude of Hawk's Nature Preserve, an untouched habitat for animals and migrating birds, or on the bustling streets of nearby Woodstock, one of the most picturesque villages in all of Vermont.
Overall, a wide variety of programs and facilities are available for the entire family at Hawk, where introducing guests to new and exciting activities remains our goal. Programs are designed to provide both instruction and a measure of independence to enable you to experience the unique wonders of the Vermont landscape at your own pace. At the end of the day, sit back, relax and benefit from one of the region's many cultural offerings, including Hawk's free lawn performance series and the world-renowned summer theater at The Weston Playhouse. So, pick and choose among the Resort's countless summer recreational activities, or taste them all over the course of a week. There is definitely an adventure here for you.
We throughly enjoyed the house! It was perfect for our group and had open areas where we could party as well as spaces to get away and relax… Also loved the hot tub when it was -3F outside!!!
Looking forward to our next visit.
The cabin is well maintained and clean with great amenities. I had hosted a ski weekend for my 10 friends here (we skied in Killington) and everyone had a good time.
Chuck was not responsive at all until the day of arrival (I left a voicemail and called several times and was hung up on). He was easier to reach via text is what I learned later.
The first night we got there (Friday evening) there was a power outage for about 3 hours. Chuck was responsive but nothing he could've done to remediate the situation right away. We were not offered a credit of any sort during the power outage between 8pm-11pm which was majority of the time we were there on Friday night.
We cleaned up the place really nicely and got our security deposit back within a week so that was nice.
The home is located in a lovely wooded area. Note that all cars making the trek during the snow season should be readily equipped to handle a steep driveway covered in snow (we had a non- 4 wheel drive car get stuck in the driveway).
The house is spacious. The kitchen is stocked with pots/pans and anything else you need to cook big dinners.
The main amenities were all in working condition; fire for the fireplace was fully stocked. No complaints there.
My only real constructive criticism is that the house is a true 3 bedroom with the downstairs converted to a large room(s)with bunks. This was not a big problem for our group and probably not a problem for groups with kids but I could see it being a problem for large groups of adults thinking they are getting a true 5 bedroom home.
Also, whoever cleaned the home before we arrived (assuming a company) did not leave toilet paper or soap available so bring extras.
Overall, we enjoyed the home. If you make note of the above, you will too
I have been renting this property for years. It is always extremely well maintained and the house sparkling clean when I arrive. My kids love this house because they can get separation when they play in the basement, while adults enjoy the Living Room/ Dining area.
The house is set back from the road that only has a few houses and really gives you the feeling of being out in the woods while being able to access Ludlow(approx. 10mi) for groceries/ restaurants/ etc...
In addition to skiing, hiking and good old Rest and Relaxation, the house is 40 minutes from shopping at the Manchester Outlets and 25 minutes from Woodstock.
Will visit again!
The house was sparkling clean! Kids loved the game room, and the adults had a blast in the open living area!
Great amenities on the resort with golfing at Okemo and shopping near by in Woodstock and Manchester...
We got our full deposit returned immediately, we will definitely be visiting again!
This house was perfect for large groups -- there were plenty of beds and rooms for multiple families and a lovely fireplace in the master bedroom. Nice big dining table and a brand new grill on the porch off the kitchen. We particularly enjoyed sitting by the fire in the great room after a long day on the slopes--the house was equidistant from Okemo and Killington so we had a taste of both mountains. Definitely recommend, was surprised to discover the house was much larger than the pictures online. Just note there is limited cell service in Plymouth!
