About jennifer moore
Ken and Jennifer Moore are Canadians who love Hawaii and spend six months of the year on the Big Island. They have been married for 30 years and have two children in their twenties. After purchasing their dream home, also a vacation rental vrbo #322776, they realized the demand for quality ocean view rental property and purchased Kona Onenalo. With their connections from living on the island both properties are well managed and exceptional vacation rentals that offer all the comforts of home.
jennifer moore purchased this House in 2012
Why jennifer moore chose Kahaluu-Keauhou
The old adage: location, location, location is never more appropriate than here at Kona Onenalo. Each house has a direct ocean view and the breaking waves are only feet away. An ocean gate opens directly onto La'Aloa Bay, one of the premier snorkeling and scuba diving venues on the Kona coast. White Sands beach is 300 yards from our front door. The ocean front pool and spa offer panoramic vistas and sunsets. The property itself is meticulously maintained with lush tropical landscaping. And all of this is set in the middle of the greater Kailua-Kona area, a community filled with restaurants, shopping and many other resort amenities.
What makes this House unique
Kona Onenalo is a walled and gated community. All of the owners are mainland based and it is rare for more than 3 or 4 homes to be occupied at any given time. One of the things that we treasure about our place is that it is always peaceful, quiet and private. Alii Drive itself has a unique character. As it winds along the shoreline from the town of Kailua-Kona to the Keahou Resort 6 miles to the south, it passes several wonderful little sandy beaches as well as four favorite local surfing locations. Residents walk, jog and bike this 6 mile stretch of road at all times of the day. Kona Onenalo is the perfect combination of a private retreat set amid the hustle and bustle of a larger community.

Magic near Magic Sands!
Spring Break getaway from the Pacific North Wet. This house was just what we needed - our group was 5 - 2 adults and 3 teens. After landing, we loaded up on groceries at Costco and made our way south to our home for the week. The layout was great with 3 different sleeping areas and 3 different showers. The kitchen was super well equipped - maybe better than any VRBO other than our own! We also took advantage of the cooler, beach chairs and umbrella. There was a load of snorkel gear and we were able to completely outfit 3 of the people in our party.
We loved sleeping in the bedrooms with the sound of the surf and a huge screen doors for the gentle breezes. We had rain a couple of nights, and for us, there is nothing better than the surf, rain and breeze. We didn't watch much TV, but the teens took advantage of the WiFi when they had some down time - which wasn't much.
The house is literally a 4 minute walk from White Sands/Magic Sands beach - great body surfing, boogie boarding and floating in the swells. When it was time to get out of the sun or have lunch, a quick walk and no parking hassles put us right back in the house. Great location for day trips as well - we hit Volcanoes one day, kayaked to the Captain Cook Monument and snorkeled the next. More snorkeling and visits to the place of Refuge the next. We headed up North to check out some of the beaches in the resort areas as well. Quick and easy to get into Kailua - Kona and go to some of the restaurants too.
The pool in the development was really nice - I was in almost every AM as the crew was getting ready and every night before dinner to cool down. We saw the spinner dolphins close by several times.
There is actually excellent snorkeling in the small cove in front of the unit and off the reef in front of the pool. Its not for beginners, and not for when the surf is high. I loved it, and we did see a couple of snorkel tours drop people in out front when conditions were good. The trick is to find a good entry point - the far side of the cove had an easy spot to get in and out.
We have to come back and discover more of the Big Islands sometime soon!
Aloha and thank you to our gracious hosts!
So glad you enjoyed your stay. The snorkeling is excellent right behind the house. Did you see the arch? So cool! Hope to see you back again soon. The Big Island has so much to offer. We have been spending the winter for eight years are still find new and exciting adventures.
A beautiful oasis-check it out!
Loved my experience at this safe, spacious, more than comfortable home with breath taking views! Everything was clean, bed was very comfortable, kitchen well stocked appliances etc and location, location, location
Wonderful easy access to ocean, walk on the lava, hang out at the pool and hot tub- all good! Snorkel beach so close and wave beach just minutes away! A very welcoming community -the clarity of instructions and ease to follow made it hassle free! Highly recommended! Sincerely Kate Kraft
Thanks Kate. The island is such a special place. I’m happy you were comfortable in the house. Enjoying the ocean activities just steps from the condo is a wonderful thing to do.
Hope your journey back home was comfortable.
The location, the grounds, and the home are all Excellent!
Great Place- Hope to stay again soon!
Jennifer's home was perfect for our stay. I had my parents, a coworker and his girlfriend, and myself staying. We were all very comfortable and enjoyed our stay. Jennifer's instructions were very detailed which facilitated finding/entering the place. The kitchen/house had everything we could ask for as far as amenities. Also loved the view. Will hopefully be back soon. Thank you Jennifer.

We were very pleased with the facility. It was truly a luxury two-story island accommodation. The only down side was it was next to a street that carried quite a little traffic but it was only a bother just before bed time on Saturday evening and early morning as people were going to work.
Lovely home, spectacular views, very responsive owner!
Five of us stayed in this beautiful home in early January. The home is wonderfully equipped with everything you might need (including beach chairs, snorkeling stuff, boogie board and a kitchen in which I could have cooked lavish meals every night had I chosen to do so - which I did not.) The 3 bedroom/3 bath layout allows for lots of privacy. The view of White Sands Beach is lovely. The owner, Jennifer, is very responsive. We had a couple of glitches. The dishwasher was dead and it got replaced the next day. When we came home we found our dishes had been washed. The key to the beach door was missing and Jennifer's husband brought it over the same night - with a bottle of wine as an apology!
The location is ideal, especially if you want to snorkel. We love the easy, walk-in beach Kahalu'u which is a five minute drive down the road. There's easy access to restaurants and shops in town.
We had only one complaint and that is the traffic noise from Alii Drive. It is loud. The motor cycles are obnoxious and it does interfere with the ambience. The two back bedrooms are the worst, especially if you want the window open for a breeze. The master, which is in front, is less of a problem. It's a catch-22 situation, because if you want to be right on the beach you will have this problem with most homes, I suspect, as Alii drive runs the length of the area. The owner is thinking about installing window air conditioners in the back two bedrooms, which would allow one to close windows and stay cool, and provide some white noise to block the traffic noise. I think this addition would make this house absolutely perfect. And there were a couple of nights, even in January, when we felt the AC would have been a blessing.
Overall, this is a wonderful property. If the AC/noise issue is addressed I would come back in a heartbeat! Thank you Jennifer for a wonderful week!
Kona Onenalo is exactly 4 miles south of the town of Kailua Kona on the coast road called Alii Drive. It is immediately south of and adjacent to White Sands Beach on La Aloa Bay, one of the premier body surfing and snorkeling sites on the Island. Kahalu'u State Beach Park is one mile south. Its huge natural saltwater lagoon may be the best ''beginner'' snorkeling in the Hawaiin Islands. Kona Country Club, a 36 hole public golf course is 2 miles away. Kailua Kona has all of the usual shopping amenities including many restaurants, local stores, Wallmart, Safeway,Costco, etc. The Keahou shopping center is two miles south and has restaurants, a Cinema, Longs Drugs, and KTA, a local supermarket. There are many beaches, historic sites and tourist attractions in and around this area and the Volcanos National Park is a scenic 100 mile drive away.
