Bayside Manor: a Classic Maine Oceanfront Home at the Gateway to Acadia

Bayside Manor sits on 12 acres with views of Blue Hill and beautiful sunsets. Our private driveway brings you through a pine forest and suddenly you are welcomed to our sweeping oceanfront lawn with over 200 feet of a beautiful rocky Maine beach. The house is all yours with 4 large bedrooms, a modern kitchen with professional appliances, and several sitting places. Views are everywhere from the wisteria covered pergola patio, a 2nd floor balcony, and a screened sunroom offering sunsets and the sounds of the ocean. On the Main Floor there is a beautiful open concept family room/kitchen with eating nook and two sliding glass doors leading to a pergola covered porch covered with wisteria. There is a full professional kitchen with every appliance, double ovens and a walk in pantry. On the patio off of the kitchen and mud room there is a gas grill and lobster cooker. There is a separate full dining room with expandable table. There is a 1st floor king bedroom with ocean views. It is large enough for additional air mattresses or portable cribs! Finally, there is the screened sunporch with is screened on three sides and allows you to enjoy oceanfront living with a cozy fireplace and all the views of the bay. A powder room is on the first floor and don't forget to walk out to the oceanside patio with fire pit! On the second floor there are 3 oceanfront bedrooms with the master bedroom having a king bed, an alcove with a futon sofa if any of the kids would rather sleep with the parents! There is also a private oceanfront balcony for 2- the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee away from everyone else. Oh and a gas fireplace, oceanfront desk and wall mounted TV. The master bath is HUGE with walk in closet, double vanity, separate tub, and a marble and stone walk-in shower. The other two bedrooms are large and comfy - both are oceanfront and one has a king bed and the other a queen. The king second bedroom is large enough for a portable crib or twin air mattress. Finally, the upstairs has the second full bathroom with double vanity and another large walk in shower. The laundry room has a full washer and dryer and is located on the second floor.

Majestic
Bayside Harbor is amazing!! Situated on Union River Bay with spectacular sunset views and Blue Hill in the distance. The night sky is absolutely beautiful. On a clear night you could see the Milky Way. We even got a glimpse of Starlink! The home is absolutely beautiful and most comfortable with all the amenities you will ever need. The hosts and property manager are wonderful. The property is situated within 30-40 minutes of Bar Harbor, Acadia, Cadillac Mtn, shopping and many restaurants and lobster pounds. Highly recommend and hopefully we will be back soon!!

Excellent house...excellent host!!
Patrick and Robin's house is as beautiful as the pictures show, and the property is even better...it's huge and spectacularly maintained. When at the house, we spent most of our time outside or on the screen-in-porch. Patrick was an excellent host, reaching out weeks before our stay to answer any questions and provide suggestions for the house and surrounding area. The house has written instructions throughout (e.g., light switch labels), which makes it very easy to use. The house is within very easy driving distance to Bar Harbor and all points on MDI, including Acadia National Park. Herb, the caretaker, who is fantastic and has a wealth of knowledge about the area, also gave excellent suggestions for some lesser-known activities like the ferry to Little Cranberry Island. We had kayaks delivered (thanks Kayak1!) and kayaked directly from the front yard (easier at high tide!), spent parts of four days in Acadia National Park (bought the weekly pass) including two trips up Cadillac Mountain, had lobster rolls at many of the local lobster pounds (Beal's was a favorite) and grilled on the patio most nights. Groceries are within 15-20 minutes and we discovered an excellent local organic market (John Edwards Market) in nearby Ellsworth. We had an excellent time and can't wait to return!

Bayside Manor
Beautiful property close to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor but feels like a world away. The house was well equipped with everything you could need. The owners were very responsive and left a house manual that had a lot of helpful suggestions for local restaurants etc. (Along with a lovely welcome gift). Herb , the caretaker of the house and property was also very responsive when we had a question about the house. We rented kayaks and went kayaking off the beach in the back at high tide. We had a group that ranged in age from 24 to 83 years old and a great time was had by al! Thank you for sharing your property with us it was a wonderful week.

About the host

My wife (Robin) and myself (Patrick) have visited Maine with our two (now adult) children for over 20 years. While we call North Carolina home most of the year, we love coming back to Acadia. In 2020 we bought the Bayside Manor as our only family vacation home. Since we are only able to visit a handful of weeks per year, we decided to share it with others.

Why they chose this property

Once we knew that we wanted to buy a home near Acadia, we searched the area for a property that would give us both privacy but also great access to the park and the other benefits of Mr. Desert Island. We decided Trenton was the best option for us as it gives us great access to the island and to the town of Ellsworth for basics like groceries. But more important, the we drove down the driveway of the Bayside Manor and came out of the woods to see the house for the first time, we were sold. We wanted that quintessential Maine house, and this house provides that. We are fortunate to be able to buy a house that had previously just a single owner for 40 years who was able to clear the land for enjoying beautiful views of the water and sunsets in a way that isn't allowed anymore in Maine. It gives us a gorgeous lawn, multiple outdoor areas to appreciate the views, privacy, and convenience. On top of that, the house was newly renovated in 2010 so most everything important in the kitchen and baths is relatively up to date. The house needed almost no work to turn it into a great property for our family, as well as one that is perfect to share with other families.

What makes this property unique

The most unique features of the house include the large property that gives guests incredible privacy, the beautiful sunsets with our unique western orientation, the highly appointed kitchen and master bath which are simply beautiful, and the wonderful screened in porch with a gas fireplace that allows you to enjoy the views and the sounds of the bay 3 seasons of the year. We also have direct access to the bay with our own rocky Maine beach which is perfect if you want to bring some kayaks!
