About Arch and Kathy Bradsher
Kathy & I are small business owners. We have worked together since our 1st child was born in 1986. I'm a 'think outside the box', special projects kinda person, & Kathy is a gifted manager. She is easy to talk to & enthusiastic. We would be nowhere without her. We struggled with this cabin's construction, our dream lake home. Piecing 3 old log cabins into one new house was so much more expensive than we'd ever imagined. Truly, we were sick towards its completion because we thought as soon as it was finished, we would have to sell it. A friend suggested we try to rent the cabin before making the selling decision. We were doubtful, but gave it a try. An aunt happen to tell us about vrbo, & it rented incredibly well. We knew then that this peaceful 'walk in the past' cabin was meant to be shared with others & here we are today. Please come unwind & recharge.
Arch and Kathy Bradsher purchased this House in 2003
Why Arch and Kathy Bradsher chose Roxboro
There's no other fresh water lake like Mayo Lake within the 3 states of lakes we've visited. Regulations say the shoreline must stay in its original, natural state. You can moor a boat to the shore, but no floating or permanent docks are allowed. This keeps development down because so many people desire a permanent dock. Mayo Lake's water is so clean, so clear. On a calm day, the emerald green water allows you to see 4' below the surface. Have you ever been to a very clean lake, but the water was still dark? I'm sure you have. Mayo Lake is not like that, unless it's an unusually busy, windy day.
What makes this House unique
Being busy people, when we pass by the last house on the right on Gabriel Jones Road & enter the 'tunnel created by trees', our unique benefit is we begin to relax & enjoy the quiet, un-busy forest. We've worked hard at our jobs, & it's now time to have some family fun. We wake up the next morning, see the beautiful old square logs & old timey chinking around us, & lay there trying to grasp 'could this be our place'. If possible, we open the windows, turn on the ceiling fans, & enjoy the fresh air & any forest activity. The kids get the boat ready. For our family wakeboarding, tubing, & skiing has become a way for our family to take our 'world switch' to the next level. We board, tube, ski, lounge, snack, & cheer each other on as we play. We watch Kathy ride behind the boat on her slalom ski & try to guess what song she's singing out loud like a little girl. We just have family fun. 'Eid dont git no bet-tah din dis'! Come on!!

We sure hope so, Pam! We'd love to have you!
Incredible lake house and location
This is one of the best lake properties I’ve ever rented. The property owner was wonderful to work with. Location was awesome and quiet, perfect for a long weekend.
Thank you so much, Will! We agree that this property is a 'slice' of what heaven must be like! We hope you will come back! Kathy and Arch
Amazing Cabin, Excellent hosts
Such an amazing space and location. We will be back! Communication with host was excellent!
Thank you for your kind words, Dean! We try to treat our guests the way we'd like to be treated when vacationing: responsive to needs but not intrusive!! We welcome you back! Kathy and Arch
This home is unique and comfy. From the porch to the overstuffed beds the home is inviting and comfortable. As expected it was not brand new as it is three old log homes put together, but it had all the amenities and was clean and efficient. Yes there are insects, after all it is in the middle of the woods and is made of wood itself, but we had no issue in the home with insects, a few made it into the screened in porch in the evening but nothing much really and the location made it well worth it. The lake was clean, clear and uncluttered with people, the dock to the home is in a secluded alcove from the main water way and we enjoyed the waves the passing boats would bring as we floated on our private blow up island on the water. The fish were biting, but we didn't catch anything big, just a catch and release fun time with our grandson. This is a hidden gem in NC that will be on our list as a comeback location. Thank you Arch and Kathy for sharing your home with our family. Jackie Prignano
Gosh, Jackie, thank you so much for taking the time to write such a warm and complimentary review! Yes, an authentic log cabin in the woods by the lake does include the adventure of bugs, spiders, and the occasional 'friendly' lizard, so the faint of heart city slicker might think twice before coming, huh?! LOL But seriously, we've never had a guest check out early for that reason. Sorry you didn't catch any large fish, though. We've had guests who caught their largest fish from our pontoon boat dock even compared to fishing out on the lake in their fine fishing boats! We hope you will want to come back soon! Kathy and Arch
I can not express enough how wonderful this place was. We were absolutely thrilled with the cabin and the lake. It is all that it is promised to be. Our children and our fur babies were equally as happy. Our dogs swam and played like dogs should be able to. It was a safe and easy place to be. The only time we saw anyone else was when we drove into town or the occasional boat was driving by.
We fished off the dock, paddle boarded and swam in a clean and clear lake. It was just perfect. Lazy days, with relaxing nights laying out on the dock watching the stars.
The covered porch allowed for games and fun in the evening and we really didn't every have an issue with bugs. The beds and cabin were so very comfortable. It is a wonderful cabin with all the amenities but still feels rustic and quaint. Every morning you can wake up to the view of the lake from all of the bedrooms.
Thank you so much for this delightful place! We will definitely be back again! Fantastic and perfect family vacation!
Krista, thank you so much for your warm review; we can't express how nice it is to have guests like you guys, and we are thrilled that you are coming back to enjoy Thanksgiving on the lake! Kathy and Arch
The Cornerstone Cabin in Roxboro is literally a dream come true. My husband and I love taking our dogs with us on vacation. But it's been a challenge to find somewhere that fits all of the human needs 1)King Bed 2)Lake 3)Fishing 4)Quiet 5)Internet *and* not only accepts dogs but is a safe and fun place for them: 1)No busy roads 2)No barbed wire.
Cornerstone Cabin could not have been more perfect!
In mid-July, we saw at most 10 boats on any one day (Sunday). We had a nice little cove to swim and float in away from whatever boat traffic there was. So tranquil! The dock was perfect for fishing and sunning. And the stars were amazing. Next time I'm timing our visit with a meteor shower for sure!
The house is so comfortable. It looks as though it's been there for generations but really it's barely 15 years old with plenty of dining and lounging space. My husband is lobbying hard for the recliner couches. Additionally, the screened in porch is great but we didn't find the bugs to be a problem at any point.
The pups swam and swam, rode on the paddleboards we rented from the nearby state park (so close we paddled the boards home for lunch), ran in the woods and slept in the shade. They barely barked for 7 days! There was no one around to bark at!
As soon as I got home, I wish I hadn't left.
Wow, Sarah, you covered all the bases about what makes this place special so much better than we ever could! We are so glad you had a wonderful time, and we hope you will come back, for sure!! PS we HAVE experienced a meteor shower there and it was absolutely stunning!!
