There are 200+ 2BR/2BA (780 in total) vacation rentals in the 'Santa Barbara Area' and of these, 125 are supposed to be in 'Santa Barbara'. So how do you chose - location, location, location! And then compare our quality and price....
We are not in Carpentaria, Goleta, Summerland or Montecito. We are also not in the suburbs of Santa Barbara such as San Roque, Mission Canyon, Los Positas etc.
We are in the coveted Historic West Beach area, steps from the beach, Las Banos Public Pool, Stearns Wharf, Harbor, world-class dining, and downtown shops, including our own local farmers market. We are not next to the railroad tracks, highway or on a commercial thoroughfare.
Leave your car and associated traffic/parking worries behind. We even offer RARE off street reserved parking.
The Ocean Getaway resides in a historical turn of the century building and retains the charm of the day’s bygone. It has been lovingly restored to reflect Santa Barbara's style including hand cast plaster, 10 feet vaulted ceilings and Waterford fireplace giving it both a romantic and European feeling.
The sparkling open and fully equipped kitchen was designed with high quality construction, including granite countertops, limestone floors, custom cabinets made by our own local cabinet maker, PJ Mulligan, that are complimented with high end appliances: Subzero refrigerator, Wolf cook top stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, expresso machine and of course a washer and dryer. The dining room table accommodates up to 5.
The warm and cozy living room is a great gathering area with hardwood floors, Waterford fireplace, 50-inch Plasma TV, Blueray DVD and stereo to add to its ambiance. The leather couch has a queen size sleeper and accompanies two comfortable over-stuffed venetian chairs and an antique Louis VIV desk. Complimentary broadband wireless internet is provided throughout.
The living room also has glass doors with views of the courtyard and grand Italian fountain. The courtyard has flowers and green shrubbery that can be enjoyed on our 2 chaise lounges and/or 2 sets of dining table and chairs. A large gas grill has also been provided for enjoyment of our local flavors
The king bedroom offers a 40” HDTV and DVD with an accompanying bathroom that includes a walk in shower. The queen bedroom has with a 20' HDTV and DVD and accompanying bathroom with shower/tub combination. The bathrooms are new and done with limestone floors, granite countertops and custom Santa Barbara-style cabinets.
When you book with us, you are booking directly with the owners, which means you are not dealing with a management company, or a 3rd party call center, or a computerized mobile application. Often times the 3rd party does not live in town or even know the property. We know our properties intimately, as we both own and manage them, and have a 15+ year track record. Our sixteen FIVE star reviews speak for themselves, including our cleanliness. Also our history as a vacation rental ensures that the property will be delivered. Unfortunately there are some fraudulent offerings and sometimes rental agencies have the ability to 'substitute' your property with another.
Upon booking, directions are emailed along with our contact information, Restaurant Recommendations, Winery and Activities Recommendations and Welcome Notes providing detailed information about the Beach Getaway. In this way, you can drive right to the Getaway, which has a lock box where you’ll use your unique code to enter. There is no need to set up an appointment. Inside, you'll enjoy premium amenities: shampoo, soaps, paper & cleaning products, and 5 star quality bath and beach towels, linens and cleaniness.
And we offer complimentary champagne upon your arrival.
While priced slightly higher than most 1BR/1BA’s, the Ocean Getaway offers a comfortable stay for 2 couples or a small family. Most of the single hotel rooms are priced higher and yet our Ocean Getaway offers so much more.

(A few helpful hints when comparing us to others. The Ocean Getaway is on the ground floor, 1 level, with FULL bathrooms and bedrooms, NO lofts or stairs. We also offer private reserved parking, as opposed to parking on the street which is a challenge being so close to the beach. Finally, we are not located on a commercial thorough fare, next to the Highway (APS or 101) or railroad tracks. We are in an upscale residential enclave in the West Beach Area, in Santa Barbara, 2 blocks to the Beach and State Street.)

We fell in love with the downtown Santa Barbara and found this fabulous historical property that needed an owner to give it tender loving care and this is exactly what we did. We leveraged a lifetime of rebuilding properties and for this property we did it for fun - it has been our joy. We completely remodeled to reflect the true Santa Barbara style and ambiance with hand cast plaster, limestone and wood floors, waterford fireplace to name a few.

Location, location, location and history. We are located in West Beach, 2 blocks to the sand and 2 blocks from downtown, in a nice residential area. We are not adjacent the highway, railroad tracks or on a commercial street. The quality of this property and its location are extremely rate which is what prompted us to buy this gem. As a historical building it has a lot of land encompassing it and private reserved parking which is rare.
The benefit of our Ocean Getaway is that you can truly enjoy Santa Barbara, its beach and its unique beauty and personality, as opposed to being in outlying suburban areas, that look like any other or for that matter some of the pictures may look good but the neighborhood is not up to par. We are unmatched in location, quality and price.
We chose this apartment due to the location and it was perfect. We walked almost everywhere we wanted to go, especially the beach and many places in downtown SB. The apartment itself is quite spacious, very nicely decorated, very clean, and outfitted with everything we needed. The outdoor terrace is spacious and lovely and we sat outside enjoying the weather and fresh air quite a bit. The neighborhood and building are quiet and our space felt very private even though there are other condos in the building. We felt totally alone. Our bed was very comfortable, which always matters. We would certainly book this property again.

We were so happy the minute we walked in. It is very tastefully decorated, comfortable and clean. Everything we could possibly need was available, it was like being at home. It's a super location...just a short walk to the harbor or the wharf. We absolutely recommend this place and hope to visit again.
We recently stayed in this lovely appointed rental. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the accommodations far exceeded our expectations. The owners' description of their property is accurate in every way. Our group of 5 enjoyed it tremendously. It is beautifully decorated and has a lovely patio area with fountain. We ate all of our meals outside.
The location is excellent. It is a short walk (2 blocks) to the beach and to State Street. There is a market just around the corner. No need for a car in-town. We only used ours for hiking excursions and short out of the area day-trips. There are multiple restaurants in the area. Rentals for paddleboarding,biking, surfing etc are within walking distance. Brophy Brothers in the harbor is a short walk---a very casual "local" hangout for fresh fish & clam chowder, cocktails...less touristy than the wharf. The owners provide so many extra amenities--from a well stocked kitchen, to shampoo/conditioner and body soaps in the bathroom. We will return.
We absolutely loved this place. It acommadated 6 people comfortably. It is within walking distance of the beach, restaurants and shopping. Loved , loved , loved it ! The keys were easy to find and laundry soap, paper towels, coffee filters, beach towels , shampoo, hair dryers, ironing board and iron, just to mention a few, were all supplied. Each room had it's own t.v. and the bottle of champagne in the refrigerator was the BEST ! I would highly recommend it to anyone who would like a California beach getaway in Santa Barbara. I used to live there and so I knew my way around, but it was a real treat to walk into this place and feel right at home .
This was a trip that was planned for 20 years. My adult daughter and I arrived in sunny, gorgeous Santa Barbara to begin a week of relaxation and reflection. She was born there some 30 years ago and we have longed to return to reminisce. I have never used VRBO.com before and had no idea what to expect. We hit a WINNER on our first time on the site. This rental was PERFECT! The location was simply fantastic. It was beautiful, well appointed, clean, the private patio made us feel like millionaires. The two bedroom, two bath was perfect for us. The TV was the size of a drive in movie.
This rental unit exceeded our expectations by a mile in every way. We are grateful to have found such a terrific location and accomodation. We will return each April and hope that we are able to secure this unit. By the time we left, we felt it was "OURS" and we were jealous that someone else was coming to our "home." It's silly, I know. But that's how we felt.
And the communication and customer service prior to the rental was also friendly and professional. They took time to answer my many anxious questions with humor. It was an important and long awaited trip so I wanted it to go well.
PERFECT! We are grateful and have a week of fantastic memories at our "home" near the beach in sunny Santa Barbara!
There are 900+ vacation rentals in the 'Santa Barbara Area'. Vacation rentals pricing follow the same trend as real estate pricing - location, location. The farther out you go out of Santa Barbara, the less expensive the real estate and the better the vacation rental pricing.

Standard method of payment is checks and direct deposits at any Bank of America Branch.
Credit card payment via PayPal and bank wire transfers are also accepted but in these cases the 4% PayPal fee & $25/wire transfer fee are applied.
Cancellation policy - the amount of deposit received is subject to loss, excluding the damage security deposit, unless re-rented for that time period.
