In this vibrant, cosmopolitan neighborhood, you will find some of the city's finest museums and historic homes as well as an array of ethnic restaurants, unique bookstores, and Washington's largest concentration of private art galleries. This perfect location provides many walking destinations including the White House, The National Mall, The Textile Museum etc.
There are two Metro Stations nearby our condo - Dupont Circle which is pretty close as well as U Street. Both within walking distance about 10 minutes. Public transportation is very easy and safe, so you will be able to get everywhere by walking or Metro.
We have lived in Washington for over ten years and love this cosmopolitan city where people get up every morning and get to work on changing the world. The most powerful people in DC can alter the course of history and try to make the world a better place. It's a city where philosophical debate and advocacy of issues beyond one's own family or pocketbook rule the day; a city where what's going on in one's head is far more important than what one is wearing; a city where people come from all over the world to experience democracy and learn the principles of our free society.
We get visitors from all over the country and the world. Some come for one time visit with their family, others keep coming back number of times a year as we host many repeat guests related to the federal government, foreign embassies and the US State Department. We take great pride in having our unit very clean (our mom cleans it, so you know it’s spotless), conveniently located within walking distance to all shopping, restaurants and Metro.
We want you to enjoy your visit whether it is once in a lifetime trip with your family or monthly visit for work. We are looking forward to hosting you in DC and if there is something we can help with, let us know.
The Owner purchased this condo in 2016
Situated in the heart of the city is the tony neighborhood of DuPont Circle. Located in a section of Washington called 'Old City', DuPont Circle is a traffic circle, neighborhood, and historic district. A number of historic homes can be found throughout the area, including the post-presidential residence of Woodrow Wilson. DuPont Circle is a known destination for fine dining and entertainment.
This cosmopolitan neighborhood includes an eclectic collection of shops and trendy restaurants that draw visitors young and old. Originally populated by Washington's old money and nouveau riche, DuPont Circle is now home to artists, intellectuals, and young professionals. Turn-of-the-century mansions and brownstones—once home to some the city's most prominent families—now house some of the nation's finest art museums, hippest restaurants, quirky shops, and foreign embassies. It is also home to the Phillips Collection, one of the city's foremost art museums featuring paintings by Renoir, Degas, Cezanne, Picasso, and others.
The proximity to the National Mall, White House and all of downtown is just unmatched in this apartment. On the weekend, DuPont Circle has one of the largest organic farmers' markets in the city. This neighborhood is accessible by foot or cab. WalkScore rates our unit and the surrounding neighborhood a walkability rating of 98 out of 100 - so as perfect as one can get. There are two Metro Stations nearby our condo - Dupont Circle which is pretty close as well as U Street. Both within walking distance about 10 minutes.
A huge thank you for our wonderful stay at your beautiful apartment. We were very excited about all that Washington offered & hopeful that the apartment & Dupont Circle would be the ideal base. Our expectations were exceeded. The apartment & location were perfect. We immediately felt comfortable & at home, if not trendy in your stylish setting. We not only enjoyed the major Washington sights but also the gentle strolls around Dupont Circle, great restaurants & stunning architecture. For the second week of our holiday we are enjoying another beautiful VRBO property in Oxford, Maryland. All in all the perfect vacation.
My family spent a week at this wonderful condo and loved everything about it. The location is wonderful and close to everything. We found the unit very clean, fresh and almost feeling brand new and even nicer than we saw on the website. The neighborhood is very safe, close to the Smithsonian and all the sights. We walked to two grocery stores around the corner (Whole Foods and Safeway), both of which are very close. The owner gave us great tips on where to go eat and was so nice that we almost felt like having a new friend. Highly recommend to everyone who can get on the calendar as it seems that they book up pretty far in advance.
This rowhouse is as nice as the photos. The owner was attentive and the neighborhood friendly.
We stayed Thanksgiving week and enjoyed the condo very much. The kitchen was well supplied and there was no problem making an entire Thanksgiving meal. The location of this condo is wonderful. Walking distance to many sights as well as grocery stores and restaurants. It felt like a safe and very clean neighborhood . Our daughter had her car and there was never any problem finding parking. There are two very large skylights directly over the master bed, so it would be advisable to bring a sleep mask unless you like to be awakened very early in a fully bright bedroom. The only disappointment was the linens and/or lack of. The master bed had no fitted sheet and the flat sheet on the bed was too small exposing the stained mattress cover. Also there were pillows without cases. We did have the unfortunate experience of the master toilet leaking and dripping onto the kitchen counter from a lighting fixture, something that could not be fixed during our stay. I would recommend this property.
Very few glitches; two problems were quickly taken care of. The second bedroom is a bit small, but we really loved the place and would stay again.
This apartment is located near a vibrant, diverse neighborhood (the U St. corridor) and almost as close to a historic district (Dupont Circle) and another lively one (Adams Morgan); it's also easy walking distance to the U St and Dupont Circle Metro stations. There are lots of shops, popular cafes and restaurants, and other services nearby, including a Trader Joe's barely two blocks away. Best of all, if you like walking, it's an easy hike (about a mile) to the White House and, beyond that, the Mall. The apartment itself is nicely appointed and comfortable. However, there were some issues with the place, starting with the sign that we saw when we first opened the door, giving us a "choice" to remove our shoes or "scrub the floors." (I'm fine with the idea, but couldn't you have asked nicely?) There were also instructions requiring us, at the end of our stay, to wash, fold, and put away the towels we used, which was not really possible since there were four of us and we had to eat breakfast, shower, and check out by 11 AM. There was also a problem with the shower in one of the bathrooms, which was resolved (which took two days), and a lesser problem with the kitchen-sink faucet (which was not fixed). If the apartment were maintained a little better, so that such problems didn't come up or were dealt with immediately (the shower problem had been reported by guests in the "feedback" book three months earlier!), it would be a fabulous place for two couples (or a family with one or two older children) to use as a base for exploring our nation's capital. Then we could recommend it enthusiastically.
For the most part our experience was wonderful. It slept 6 of us comfortably and we liked being able to prepare some of our meals at "home". The location was great for trying all sorts of restaurants, super markets, and hitting the sights of DC. We felt very safe in the neighborhood as well. The instructions left by the owners were fairly easy to follow and the property was very clean when we arrived. The only issues we had with the property were as follows: 1) This is most likely for the winter months and dealing with snow, but it was quite disappointing to be greeted when we opened the door with a sign that stated to take off our shoes when entering or clean the floors during our stay. Again, not very tasteful, but also extremely dangerous. Someone could slip in their socks on those stairs and be seriously injured! 2) The pocket door to the bathroom really needs to be fixed or changed to a regular door. It was hard to maintains ones privacy. 3) Think about investing in some towel racks for the bathrooms. They are not difficult to install and would be helpful. 4) Being a 2 story apartment, we figured the water pressure and maintaining the temperature of the water might be challenging, but you might want to consider changing the faucet in the pocket-door bathroom and the kitchen. These are easy fixes and would eliminate the complaints written about in the past. The kitchen especially just needs a new head on the faucet. 5) We were left with only 2 tablets to run the dishwasher and then had to buy our own? These are things that are usually very well stocked when we have stayed at other VRBOs. We had plenty of toilet paper and hand soap, but would have loved some kleenex and other kitchen essentials (plastic wrap, sugar, bags). These suggestions would make your place even more charming and loved!
