About Jarek Mika

We are family owned and operated. From the left meet Kate, Jarek (sister and brother) and our mom Dana.

We have lived in Washington for over ten years and love this cosmopolitan city where people get up every morning and get to work on changing the world. The most powerful people in DC can alter the course of history and try to make the world a better place. It's a city where philosophical debate and advocacy of issues beyond one's own family or pocketbook rule the day; a city where what's going on in one's head is far more important than what one is wearing; a city where people come from all over the world to experience democracy and learn the principles of our free society.

We get visitors from all over the country and the world. Some come for one time visit with their family, others keep coming back number of times a year as we host many repeat guests related to the federal government, foreign embassies and the US State Department. We take great pride in having our unit very clean (our mom cleans it, so you know it’s spotless), conveniently located within walking distance to all shopping, restaurants and Metro.

We want you to enjoy your visit whether it is once in a lifetime trip with your family or monthly visit for work. We are looking forward to hosting you in DC and if there is something we can help with, let us know.

Why Jarek Mika chose Washington DC

Situated in the heart of the city is the tony neighborhood of DuPont Circle. Located in a section of Washington called 'Old City', DuPont Circle is a traffic circle, neighborhood, and historic district. A number of historic homes can be found throughout the area, including the post-presidential residence of Woodrow Wilson. DuPont Circle is a known destination for fine dining and entertainment.

This cosmopolitan neighborhood includes an eclectic collection of shops and trendy restaurants that draw visitors young and old. Originally populated by Washington's old money and nouveau riche, DuPont Circle is now home to artists, intellectuals, and young professionals. Turn-of-the-century mansions and brownstones—once home to some the city's most prominent families—now house some of the nation's finest art museums, hippest restaurants, quirky shops, and foreign embassies. It is also home to the Phillips Collection, one of the city's foremost art museums featuring paintings by Renoir, Degas, Cezanne, Picasso, and others.

What makes this condo unique

The proximity to the National Mall, White House and all of downtown is just unmatched in this apartment. On the weekend, DuPont Circle has one of the largest organic farmers' markets in the city. This neighborhood is accessible by foot or cab. WalkScore rates our unit and the surrounding neighborhood a walkability rating of 98 out of 100 - so as perfect as one can get. There are two Metro Stations nearby our condo - Dupont Circle which is pretty close as well as U Street. Both within walking distance about 10 minutes.

Guestbook comments from the owner

A huge thank you for our wonderful stay at your beautiful apartment. We were very excited about all that Washington offered & hopeful that the apartment & Dupont Circle would be the ideal base. Our expectations were exceeded. The apartment & location were perfect. We immediately felt comfortable & at home, if not trendy in your stylish setting. We not only enjoyed the major Washington sights but also the gentle strolls around Dupont Circle, great restaurants & stunning architecture. For the second week of our holiday we are enjoying another beautiful VRBO property in Oxford, Maryland. All in all the perfect vacation.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

My family spent a week at this wonderful condo and loved everything about it. The location is wonderful and close to everything. We found the unit very clean, fresh and almost feeling brand new and even nicer than we saw on the website. The neighborhood is very safe, close to the Smithsonian and all the sights. We walked to two grocery stores around the corner (Whole Foods and Safeway), both of which are very close. The owner gave us great tips on where to go eat and was so nice that we almost felt like having a new friend. Highly recommend to everyone who can get on the calendar as it seems that they book up pretty far in advance.

Loved it!!!

  • 5 of 5

Great location, perfect if you want to get a feel for the city. It's located on a charming, brick lined side street, walking distance to Starbucks or Peet's Coffee, and 14th Street restaurants. The condo was very clean and well appointed. We had three adults and one child and there was plenty of space for us to spread out, yet also feel like we were having family time. We have family in DC and would definitely stay here again over a hotel the next time we visit!

great space in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed for four nights with my teenage kids and their friends. The property is in a great location within walking distance to restaurants and shops and walkable or a quick metro ride to DC sites. Lovely townhouses in the neighborhood are on safe, quiet, treelined streets. The place is light and bright, with a spacious combined living and kitchen/dining space. The kitchen is fully equipped and has new modern appliances. The two beds are very comfortable; linens are fresh, and plenty of towels are provided. If you are looking for an alternative to the confines of a hotel, this is it!

Very cute, clean and well-appointed apartment in Dupont Circle

  • 4 of 5

The apartment is very cute and clean and on a beautiful, quiet street with brick sidewalks and charming houses. It is a couple blocks from lots of restaurants and grocery stores and about a 30 minute walk to the Newseum and Capitol. We found it very convenient and a nice place to relax after a day of sightseeing. The kitchen is well appointed and the apartment gets plenty of light. The owners were very responsive to emails about questions we had about rental cars and things like that. They were very nice and came to help us when we had trouble unlocking the inner door lock, which was was hard to maneuver. They provided an informative booklet of recommendations for things to do and places to eat in the city.

Be aware that there a lot of stairs (2 flights) within the condo, and that there are 2 skylights above the master bed. The room flooded with bright sunlight at 6 every morning. I would recommend a sliding cover for the skylights. Also, the bathrooms could use more places to put things (especially in the master shower).

We would definitely stay there again and overall it was a delightful stay. Thank you!

Recent Rental Review

  • 3 of 5

Our overall experience was satisfactory; good accommodations and amenities, and a great location. There were a couple of things, the small bathroom shower did not work so six had to share the main bathroom shower; the inside front door did not lock (yes we had the combination) so a little apprehensive leaving for the day with only the outside door locked. One call was placed to the property manager and was directed to another phone whose voice mail box was full.

Would I recommend this property, yes I would.
