Copper Center Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 1 Bedroom, 1 bath

Welcome to Copper River Retreat

The property is located two hundred miles east of Anchorage and 100 miles north of Valdez in the heart of the beautiful Copper River Valley. Copper River Retreat is set in the small community of Copper Center which is accessed by the Glenn and Richardson highways. Copper River Retreat is a special retreat for couples, friends or families. We offer something for those seeking fun and adventure and for those seeking a little rest and relaxation.

The cabin is beautiful, rustic Alaskan and was built by the owner using local materials, which includes the use of burl logs. The cabin is a single story unit for easy access and is located in a picturesque, park like setting surrounded by Aspen and Spruce trees on three acres of private property.

Burl House is a large one bedroom, one bathroom cabin, including a kitchen/dining area with refrigerator and microwave. The living room has handcrafted built ins, two sofas and a loft. The bedroom has a full size bed. Cabin accommodates up to six people.

Copper River Retreat is centrally located near many local activities which include; hiking, wild life viewing, berry picking, photography and fish wheel viewing. There are several guided services also available nearby including; rafting, four wheeling, dog sled rides, jet boat rides and scenic flight seeing.

In season we can offer some of the world’s best salmon fishing and hunting. You can find most anything you need within 10 miles of our property at one of the several gas stations, mini markets, museums, gift shops, and restaurants in the area. Within a short driving distance there is an authentic Alaskan Roadhouse, Wrangle St. Elias National Park headquarter complex and the Trans Alaska Pipeline.

I would love to be your host and share my forty-five years of Alaska experience with you. I will be onsite to accommodate any guest needs, answer questions and provide ideas of how you too can experience Alaska.

This was a great base for us. Pretty central to all points of interest. Dan was a great host and listened to our daily adventure stories and gave us helpful information. It is rustic but functional. If you are doing your own cooking, keep in mind that you only have a 2 burner camp stove and a gas grill outside. Full size fridge and cooking utensils and pots and pans etc. There were only two of us and very roomy for our needs. Peaceful, quiet an.and clean. Great value for the money. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

sept 2015 visit

We have stayed at many VRBO properties but this was the best so far. This log cabin is nestled in an area surrounded by Alder trees showing their autumn foliage for us. The cabin was made with love and you can feel it as you enter beautiful logs, warm wood stove, comfortable furnishings, Dan and his wife make you feel at home, help you if needed ,but also allow your privacy to enjoy the Alaskan wilderness.

Many Thanks Dan & Lorre we loved every minute at your cabin

Took our company up to copper center and the Klutina for some red fishing and found this amazing cabin. We had such an amazing stay at the burl house! Went fishing all day at the river and had an amazing evening at the cabin! Nice comfy Alaskan feel with all the amenities of home for cooking up the fish for dinner and playing games after!!! Thanks again Dan!!!!

Summer wedding

We can not thank Dan enough for a wonderful stay in Alaska! His cabins had a comfort and quality that is rare in the area. He has endeared himself in our hearts as a host and someone we look forward to seeing again. For travelers the location is comfortably located and for the fisherman, you will not find a more complete place to make your base. We recommend staying at Copper River Retreats wholeheartedly and will most defiantly stay there again.

Call of the mountains

  • 5 of 5

Since boyhood I'd dreamed of the 'Great Northwest' and for the last 4 years I've visited the Copper River Retreat in Copper Center,Alaska. Whether it was the arrival to a Moose crossing right in front of us as we approached the property or the Bear Hide tanning in a small log barn or the call of the coyotes and wolves at night or simply the roar of the mighty Klutina River nearby, but not too close, I knew I had truly arrived in the Great Northwest. I myself was born approx 10 miles from the home of Daniel Boone and Kit Carson yet having arrived in Copper Center I knew I was in the heart of the 'Mountain Man Country' of the great Northwest. The proprieter and his wife have created a truly Alaskan experience. From hiking , exploring, hunting or and a host of other endeavors one can hardly choose what to do next . The fishing , World Class, and delicious . The Beauty is one can also relax and do absolutely nothing if that is your preference. I slept like a baby. The retreat itself is a step back to the era of the early explorers with the exceptions of all the conveniences of the 21st century. The host himself is a world class hunter/ fisherman/ mountain man , a virtual Jerimiah Johnson who has built three cabins and added the perfect Alaskan artisan touch to the retreat , he can also direct you to a number of perfect activities to enhance your Northwest vacation. I've worked from Anchorage for more than the last 20 years yet had not truly experienced Alaska until my arrival in Copper Center. Do yourself a favor,... Don't miss it,...
