Overview

About the property

1 large BR, 1 small BR, 1 full bath, 4 guest maximum

The Ridge is a natural wood, rustic timber-constructed, saltbox design with wide oak floors, a balcony bedroom, cathedral ceiling, and a wrap-around deck. The views are spectacular from the interior and from the deck! There are wooded hiking trails on the property which lead to a picnic table in a forest. Mountain streams, swimming, fishing, golfing, and historic sightseeing are all close by. Quiet and peaceful, the Ridge is the perfect place for a couple to relax and recharge.

Conveniently located near Lexington VA: You would think you were many miles out in the country but in fact The Ridge is less than 3 miles from the city limits of historic Lexington Virginia. Home of Washington and Lee University, Virginia Military Institute, and the Virginia Horse Center, Lexington has many historic and other sites of interest. Two 'must see' sites are Natural Bridge of Virginia, one of the seven natural wonders of the world located 20 miles south, and Goshen Pass, a beautiful mountain river with picnic facilities and swimming holes located 15 miles west. Both Universities have civil war museums. The Virginia Horse Center holds many equestrian competitions and shows throughout the year.

Hiking trails: There are two hiking trails on the property, both leading to a picnic location with table. One leads into a mature forest. The other climbs to a hill top clearing with a breathtaking view.

The Ridge is easily accessible by car over paved county roads and a gentle well maintained gravel driveway.

Peaceful and Scenic Mountain Cabin

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented the Ridge cabin for a 3 day weekend. The Ridge was a perfect cozy cabin for a relaxing and scenic mountain getaway. The view from the cabin and trails were absolutely beautiful. We saw deer on the property and heard turkeys. The cabin feels secluded. It is a short 10 minute drive to town, and there are many things to do in the area. The cabin had all of the essentials, which took away the hassle of having to pack or buy those items. We didn't get the chance to meet John, but Sandy was very friendly and warm. It is a comfort knowing they are a few minutes up the hill if you need anything. We would definitely stay at this cabin in the future. Thank you John and Sandy for sharing it with us.

Adorable Little Cabin in Ideal Setting

  • 5 of 5

This is everything you want with a small cabin for a quiet private vacation. Very clean and well furnished with an amazing back deck that you can sit on for hours! The owner was very nice and so accommodating. We had a great time and will be back again. So serene and relaxing, I think we saw two cars the whole weekend. The only thing that could make it better is some taller chairs for the back deck so you can see the beautiful views over the railing but even without them, we'd be back :)

Great weekend Get Away!

  • 5 of 5

We were here for Veteran's day weekend 2016 and had a very nice and relaxing weekend! Amazing view off the back deck. John and his wife were great, they did everything that could to accommodate what we were looking for. We did a lot of walking and grilling. We will come back again, I am sure.

Wonderful cabin

  • 5 of 5

John's cabin is a great getaway. Ideal for a romantic retreat for a couple, a family excursion, or even two couples/small families. The only downside is that the shower is quite small, but more than reasonable for the price. There is WiFi, John allowed our dogs (and they loved it), and he is a very helpful and flexible host. It's ~8 minute drive to downtown Lexington. Feels very remote.

Wonderful cabin! Beautiful views!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 stayed at 'The Ridge' for an extended weekend in July of 2014 and had a wonderful experience! Very peaceful and relaxing. The cabin is absolutely charming and I totally agree with the other comments about how clean it was. We were 10 minutes to Lexington with great restaurants and great historical venues. It was an easy drive to Natural Bridge and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The owners, John and Sandy, treated us like family!!! We would definitely stay again.
