This spectacular private property, Casa De Luz, is on two well maintained palm studded acres with sweeping views to the Caribbean that can't be beat.
A beautiful terrace upstairs where you will be enjoying a drink, a meal with friends or family, is the perfect place to relax. The white washed arches frame views to the hills and the ocean. Downstairs on the lower terrace you will look out on beautiful bougainvillea to the ocean beyond
A tropical breeze is always present, while you take a nap on the hammock. The thirty foot pool is easily accessible for a quick dip, and relaxation on a lounge chair.
A evening dip in the pool is another delightful option. Or you may decide to visit the many extraordinary beaches Vieques has to offer just minutes away by car.
The two separate living areas with private kitchens both upstairs and down give you huge flexibility and privacy for your family or friends. The two outdoor gas grills make it easy to cook up a meal.
You also may decide to eat at the many local restaurants in Isabella Segunda or Esperanza, just minutes away by car. Grocery shopping is also just minutes away. The two living areas have their own TV and WI-FI for your use and entertainment.
The house can sleep twelve Each room has an overhead fan that keeps you cool and comfortable. The price of your stay depends on what you select, the entire villa or a part of the house. Please get in touch with us for more information about this.
The villa is well maintained by a local gardener and by a well experienced care taker who will meet you at your plane or the ferry and take you to your car rental and to the house.
If you need house keeping or catering that can be arranged. We are here to make your stay on Vieques as comfortable as possible. This is a well loved well cared for place. We know you will enjoy it.
We are both retired school teachers. Birdie is a well known artist and shows her work at Siddhia Hutchinson gallery in isabella Secunda and in Waterville Valley NH where they live most of the time.
Roberta Britton purchased this villa in 1982
We chose Vieques for its beauty, its beaches, and its laid back life style.
We love our house because of its privacy and beautiful location overlooking the Main Island, Culebra and ocean
Our stay at Casa de Luz was a lovely escape from the Northeast winter. The property is clean, well-maintained and well-stocked, and the views are fabulous. Both Birdie and the property manager, Joey, were helpful, friendly and easy to communicate with.
We had a fantastic time grilling whole fish and spending the evenings with a cocktail looking out over the ocean. The only issue we had was with mosquitoes, which were plentiful, but the beds are all (thankfully) equipped with mosquito netting.
I highly recommend going into Isabel II in the mornings to buy fresh bread and pastries. And try El Guayacan restaurant in Esperanza!
This is a terrific villa, especially for a large group. Our family of 11 (3 generations represented) found the accommodations to be very well-maintained, clean, spacious, well-situated close to town, but not too close. The hill-top site affords spectacular views, and pleasant tropical breezes. The property is nicely landscaped with a variety of tropical plants, shrubs and trees. We all enjoyed the pool, especially the grandchildren. The two kitchens were very well appointed for preparing your own meals. The owner's representative was prompt, friendly, and attentive in responding to our queries. The customer service was excellent.
Among our extensive travels in the Caribbean, Vieques offers some of the most attractive, clean, uncluttered beaches we have ever seen. The people of the island are friendly, courteous and helpful. While we did almost all of our cooking on site, the two towns on the island offer a variety of restaurants. We enjoyed the fish market, the bakeries, and especially the farmers market. There's plenty to do on Vieques, and it's perfect just for relaxing. Either way, you won't be disappointed.
I offer my highest recommendation for Casa de Luz, for a memorable time on Vieques.
House was beautiful with great views. Could smell flowers all day long. Would recommend to anyone without hesitation. Birdie was very helpful and easy to work with.
My family had the good fortune to rent the Casa de Luz on the first leg of our excursion to Vieques and Puerto Rico. We were greeted at the airport by Joey, the housekeeper, who was extremely friendly and as a native of Vieques, was very knowledgeable about the island. He even gave us a tour of the island while driving us to the casa. Upon arrival to the two-story casa, we were awed by the breathtaking view.
The balcony overlooked the small town of Isabelle II as well as the ocean beyond. To the east was a view of Puerto Rico, to the west Culebra and below was the big, beautiful pool. The large tiled balcony was a relaxing place to welcome the morning sun, the evening sunsets and enjoy all of our meals. The hammock and the zero-gravity chairs provided the perfect perch on which to gaze at the glittering stars in the evening.
The expansive home was simply furnished with rattan and dark wood furniture; adding to the relaxing, island vibe. Modern kitchen amenities enabled us to cook many a fresh, tasty meal at home. We particularly enjoyed purchasing fresh fish from the fish market by the ferry. (We only regret not having enough time in our stay to go back to the fish market and purchase lobsters!) The bedrooms were comfortable and provided each of my teenage children with their own personal space. My sons particularly enjoyed their bedroom on the lower level by the pool.
Clean, clear and cool, the pool was very revitalizing and easily accommodated our family of five. It was an invigorating way to start each day and a welcome reprieve at the end of a day spent exploring. The coconut trees located on the property provided welcome shade and even a coconut or two for a refreshing drink. Located on over two acres, the casa is extremely private with unobstructed views in all direction.
We had two regrets about our stay at the Casa de Luz. One was that we stayed here first. Our accommodations elsewhere as we continued with our Puerto Rican adventure certainly didn’t live up to the beauty, privacy and peace of Casa de Luz. Our second regret was that we didn’t stay longer on the island. If you are truly looking for a place to relax and unwind, there is no place I would rather be than at the Casa de Luz on the Island of Vieques.
