About Roberta Britton
We are both retired school teachers. Birdie is a well known artist and shows her work at Siddhia Hutchinson gallery in isabella Secunda and in Waterville Valley NH where they live most of the time.
Roberta Britton purchased this Villa in 1982
Why Roberta Britton chose Villa Borinquen
We chose Vieques for its beauty, its beaches, and its laid back life style.
What makes this Villa unique
We love our house because of its privacy and beautiful location overlooking the Main Island, Culebra and ocean

Great property. Great view. Nice pool. Only problem was the bugs even though they did come and exterminate. Twice. Management was great.
Breezy home with beautiful view
We stayed with a large group (11 adults and 2 toddlers) and truly enjoyed the home's location as it was close to great beaches, Isabel II and Esperanza. The upper balcony had a beautiful breeze constantly and overlooked an amazing view of the island and the pool. If you have a smaller group, I would most definitely recommend renting the upstairs because of the view, balcony, rooms, living area, and newer kitchen, etc. We were happy with the accommodations which also included plenty of towels and beach chairs which was very helpful. And we lived having the pool. The house manager got us there and gave us an overview of the island. There is a dog on the property that hangs out all the time that we truly enjoyed being with. Just keep your flip flops and sunglasses off the ground or he'll grab them for playtime. We didn't want to leave him :( Must rent a car and the roads are treacherous (jeep or SUV is best!!!) As far as the island...green beach is great for snorkeling right off the beach (even saw sea turtle), sun bay and Caracas for a day at the beach with soft sand and great swimming (very calm), black beach for a quick adventure just to see something different (Don't plan to spend much time and wear appropriate shoes to take a messy hike). Food trucks and local eats are what we tried to stick with including a food truck on 997 right off the intersection of 200 (bring your translator and plan to bring your food to go), an empanada restaurant with full menu further down 997 (nice shaded area to sit), and leaving isabel II headed down 200 there is a food truck park with lots of seating (we werent very impressed with their food, but great smoothies). Bio bay trip with Bio bay tours and glass bottom kayaks is a MUST!!! Esperanza, although a bit more Americanized also boasts a few great restaurants with unique drinks and great atmosphere. We loved the island and our house and can't wait to come back!
Thanks so much for the great review. It sounds like you saw everything the island has to offer.
So glad you enjoyed the little island and the house.
All the best,
Excellent house and relaxing
Beautiful, quiet and near from everything.
Thank you very much Katherine!
Great place for big group
The house was clean. The owner was very accomodating and easy to work with. Joey was the caretaker of the home. He was very kind and helpful. We had a few issues with the hot water but they were resolved quickly. The pool was very nice and the view was absolutely breathtaking! I gave it 4 stars only for the noise of the roosters and dogs, but that's just the price you pay to stay in beautiful Vieques!
Thanks for your review Tiffany.
Gorgeous hilltop ocean views!
Our stay at Casa de Luz was a lovely escape from the Northeast winter. The property is clean, well-maintained and well-stocked, and the views are fabulous. Both Birdie and the property manager, Joey, were helpful, friendly and easy to communicate with.
We had a fantastic time grilling whole fish and spending the evenings with a cocktail looking out over the ocean. The only issue we had was with mosquitoes, which were plentiful, but the beds are all (thankfully) equipped with mosquito netting.
I highly recommend going into Isabel II in the mornings to buy fresh bread and pastries. And try El Guayacan restaurant in Esperanza!
This is a terrific villa, especially for a large group. Our family of 11 (3 generations represented) found the accommodations to be very well-maintained, clean, spacious, well-situated close to town, but not too close. The hill-top site affords spectacular views, and pleasant tropical breezes. The property is nicely landscaped with a variety of tropical plants, shrubs and trees. We all enjoyed the pool, especially the grandchildren. The two kitchens were very well appointed for preparing your own meals. The owner's representative was prompt, friendly, and attentive in responding to our queries. The customer service was excellent.
Among our extensive travels in the Caribbean, Vieques offers some of the most attractive, clean, uncluttered beaches we have ever seen. The people of the island are friendly, courteous and helpful. While we did almost all of our cooking on site, the two towns on the island offer a variety of restaurants. We enjoyed the fish market, the bakeries, and especially the farmers market. There's plenty to do on Vieques, and it's perfect just for relaxing. Either way, you won't be disappointed.
I offer my highest recommendation for Casa de Luz, for a memorable time on Vieques.
We are 5 minutes to town of Isabella Secunda which has many shops, restaurants, and grocery stores. We are 10 minutes by car to best beaches.
