We choose to build our home on a secluded beach to be away from the usual tourist scene.
The Artistry at Adagio Bahamas Beach Cottage is by resident eco artist Del Foxton.
We had a wonderful honeymoon week at Adagio Cottage. The house is lovely and cozy, the beach and water spectacular and all the locals friendly. Go to Diamond Sunrise and have conch fritters. Ask Doris about events on the island and where to find the best local food. Have a Bahama Mama while you chat. We recommend the day trip to Peterson's Cay for kayaking and snorkeling. Chad is a great guide if you can get him. Best of all is the restful, quiet and beautiful Adagio and all that comes with it. Thanks to Del and Bill for warm hospitality, a bottle of champagne and a special sand dollar. We're taking back fond memories as well as a suitcase full of beach treasures.

My husband and I stayed at Adagio last winter for a week and we had a wonderful time taking long walks on the beach and collecting all kinds of seashells. It was very relaxing and Del & Bill were great hosts. I wish we were going again this winter!
Gracious, helpful, fun, welcoming hosts; secluded location; spectacular almost-empty kilometers-long beach; ultimate privacy; incredibly spacious; functioning wifi; functioning satellite TV; generous hot water for the shower and separate bathtub; selection of guide books, fiction and games; and perhaps best of all, a lovely screened front porch with a relaxing view of the ocean. If you are looking for a wonderful setting for absolute quiet and relaxation with minimal near-by tourism infrastructure, Adagio Cottage is the place for you. It was perfect for our needs. Four things we recommend to lucky future guests: 1) a rental car - the local buses are too erratic as a means to arrive, depart or do anything else in-between; 2) purchase all your groceries before you depart Freeport - there is really nothing near-by for top-ups; 3) buy enough bottled water for your needs - we tried boiling the tap water for later consumption but found the minerals a bit off-putting; 4) bring long trousers and/or bug repellent - like most places in the Caribbean there are tiny no-see-ums which get through the screens and enjoy your ankles in the evenings.
In conclusion, Adagio is a treasure. Five stars.
We couldn't have been more pleased with this beautiful home and location. We were looking for sandy beaches and quiet beauty away from our hectic lives. If you are looking for quiet peacefulness, long walks on the beach and a lovely modern home this is perfect! We rented a car, picked up groceries and headed out of town and away from the populated city of Freeport. The drive is about 30 minutes so you can head back in for touristy activities if you want. We enjoyed the home and quiet beach so much that we never left! The owners are next door if you need anything but we wouldn't have even known they were there as they kept to themselves and did not stop over. You can't even really see the other homes in the neighborhood and it does really feel as if you have the entire beach to yourself! We can't wait to return again!
If you are looking to get away from the crowd and have unlimited beach to enjoy with peace and quiet, then, Adagio Beach Cottage in Grand Bahama is for you. Getting to Adagio from Freeport International Airport was easy. We rented a vehicle to get around the island with and that worked out great! The cottage was great! The view everyday and night was amazing from an awesome screened in deck! Great window views that overlooked the water, easy walking sandy path to the white sand beach. Lounge chairs you could use and place anywhere you wanted. A hammock to relax in, the water colors and openness without having to see cruise ships or boats in your view was awesome! The cottage had every amenity you could want for a vacation rental! Coffee pot, toaster, full kitchen and refrigerator, and a gas grill. Highly recommend stocking up on groceries and spirits (if you drink), prior to driving to the cottage. Not many markets/wine or liquor stores around once you leave Freeport area. Note, if you rent a car, driving on the left side of the road! Would go back in a heartbeat!
We wanted a beautiful, relaxing vacation away from it all and Adagio Cottage was that and more. While most people choose Freeport as their destination, we were pleasantly surprised at how easy and quick it was to get into town. The cottage appears rustic in the VRBO photos but it is not at all. We had every comfort we could want in addition to magnificent views and our own, private, soft sand beach. We walked for miles every morning often far, far out onto the flats at low tide, finding shells, coral and sand dollars and hardly ever seeing another soul. While the cottage is not large, the layout makes for easy living with a compact but full kitchen, very comfortable living room seating, great king mattress in the bedroom and both a shower and tub in the master bath. There is also a "den" that has twin bed capability and a second bath with a shower. We spent most of our indoor time on the screened porch, reading, grilling, eating or just watching and listening to the ocean as the small waves rolled ashore. Gambier Point is a small neighborhood, so we felt comfortable and safe. Del and Bill were warm and inviting while allowing us the space we could choose or not. Del's art adorns the cottage and we were lucky enough to have her show us her home and studio where we admired and purchased some of her creations. A must! There is only one suggestion that I would make and that is to bring water shoes as the coral can be a bit tricky to navigate while swimming. We have already started to make our plans to return next year and it can't be soon enough!
Adagio Beach Cottage is everything we expected. The cottage is well appointed, clean, roomy, with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The beach was unbeatable and we walked for miles each day without seeing another person! We snorkeled right from the beach and saw plenty of reef fish and sting rays. This cottage is a perfect secluded getaway and we would go back in a heartbeat! Del and Bill were very welcoming and provided good advice regarding eateries (Bishops and believe it or not, the local gas station!!) and sites to see (Lucayan National Park and Garden of the Groves were great!). Thank you Bill and Del for allowing us to stay at your beautiful retreat! ~ Amy and Jeff
