About Shirley Filliater

This was Shirley's first house, which she bought in 1985. When we got together and Pete's son moved in with us, we moved to a larger home two miles away. But, we love the university area. There is always something to do close by -- a concert, a festival, a sporting event, or just taking a walk. We will probably move back to our ASU house in the next few years so, when we recently remodeled it, we decorated it with care. We hope you enjoy! - Shirley and Pete

Why Shirley Filliater chose Tempe

It is fun to live in this neighborhood. It is quiet but close to a lot of activity. ASU students as well as home-owners live throughout, making the neighborhood upbeat and lively. Pete and Shirley have lived in the area since 1985.

What makes this house unique

The house is conveniently located to ASU and the numerous activities that occur there. You can always find something to do within minutes. A dog park is located at the end of the street so it is entertaining to just sit in the front yard, watching the neighbors walking to the park each night.

Everything You Could Want and More

  • 5 of 5

This was our first experience with a VRBO rental and the bar has now been set very high. This 3 bedroom home is lovely, comfortable and well maintained. It comes equipped with all the comforts of home including a covered patio (with at TV), a lovely private back yard, a kitchen that any cook would love and it includes all the gadgets you could want. The owners are caring and helpful. Would gladly stay again when in Tempe.

Suited our needs just fine for a week at ASU.

  • 4 of 5

The owner was easy to coordinate with, and the house was well stocked. We found the close proximity to ASU a big plus, and it was close to good restaurants as well.

The house worked well for our needs. The beds were comfortable, but the bedrooms could use a better set of drawers. In general the property was very well maintained. The wet weather resulted in the bedroom doors not closing properly (sticking), but that normally wouldn't be an issue for Tempe. The only other issue was the living room rug had a lot of pet hair which might be an indication that the owner's cleaning service needs to be revisited.

If we have future plans in the Tempe area we would definitely consider staying here again. The owner is easy to contact, very responsive, and the property is well located and set up to be very easy to get in and familiar with everything you need.

Great house, close to ASU, would strongly recommend.

  • 5 of 5

The owners of this property were extremely professional and friendly. Great tips offered for our weekend with regards to events going on around the area, traffic etc. The house was lovely - clean and had everything we needed. Comfortable beds and pillows. We LOVED the neighborhood! Funky, friendly cute area with plenty of restaurants and shops. The dog park was so close and PERFECT for our young dog. I noticed a lot of repeat visitors in the guest book and I am certain it is because this place is great!

Meticulously maintained, well stocked house in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in quite a few VRBO homes and this was the most well-kept and thoughtfully stocked that we have seen. The house and furnishings are in excellent condition, and everything we needed for a very comfortable stay was there. We used a couple of the bicycles and were happy to find fold-up chairs to take to a local parade. The location is close enough to the ASU campus to be very convenient without the noise and traffic. I loved having the walk-up Starbucks around the corner, and we discovered the excellent Taco Shack a block to the east.

Shirley was amazing! For some reason one of the TV remotes was missing, and she had it replaced by that afternoon. Thank you for a great stay!

Perfect home for a family stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for the Ironman race and it is about a mile and half away or about a 7 minute drive depending on traffic to the race site. Super clean house with all the dishes, pots, pans cups and seasoning and coffee you could need. Great little back yard with a croquet set and TV wherever you need it. Super clean and plenty of supplies and extra room in the garage. Shirley came by and checked on us to make sure we were happy which we were and double checked again later. She was very attentive and would stay here again without question. Thanks again!!

Close to the action, but far enough away.

  • 4 of 5

I traveled to Tempe for a college and NFL game last weekend. The house is very close to the ASU campus, and has several bicycles, so getting to and from Mill Ave. was an easy 5 minute bike ride. Each of us had our own bedroom and TV, plus there is a larger TV in the living room and a small one on the back patio. The kitchen was stocked with good equipment, and we were able to cook most meals. Neighborhood is nice, mostly college kids and young couples, I assume. Very quiet at night.
