Galluzzo Villa Rental Photos and Description

Villa, 5 Bedrooms, 5 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

Only one mile from Porta Romana square (Piazzale di Porta Romana), a historical gate into the city of Florence, this beautiful typical Florentine villa is situated on the hill of 'Poggio Imperiale', immersed into the beauty of the Tuscan countryside surrounded by olive groves, gardens and fruit trees. The property looks out onto the beautiful Florentine hillside as well as Villa del Poggio Imperiale - from 1737 to 1860 residence of the 'Lorena' family, the Austrian Granddukes of Tuscany - and the Arcetri observatory where Galileo Galilei continued his astronomical research after being called to Florence in 1610 by Cosimo II dei Medici.

Location details: The villa is located only about one mile away from where the historic district of the city of Florence begins (Porta Romana square). The city center is thus easily and quickly accessible either by bus, taxi, rental car or even on foot. The 'heart' of the city center, such as the world renowned Ponte Vecchio bridge and the Uffizi museum are only about 3 km (1.9 miles) away. The main train station (Santa Maria Novella) and Piazza Duomo only 4 km (2.4 miles) away.

The nearest bus station is within walking distance as it is only about 0.4 mile away from the villa. At the same location of the bus station there is also a few excellent grocery stores, take out places, restaurant/pizzeria, pharmacy, bakery, cafes, etc.. Taxi service works very well too, as it only takes a few minutes to come and go from the heart of the historic district of the city to the villa.

The Villa estate has recently been fully renovated.

Rooms description: 5 double bedrooms, 5 full bathrooms, dining room, fully furnished kitchen, living room with fireplace and 48' LCD TV with SKY satellite channels, office room, laundry room (with washer and dryer), terrace overlooking the pool and garden with new outdoors rattan furniture chairs and teak (wooden) table. Recently, a big awning with electronic switch was added to the terrace so that it can be entirely covered to protect from the sun.

On request there is also a full bed available at the villa for an 11th guest.

The perfect home!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 7 adults and 1 baby stayed for a week in this perfect home. It was incredibly clean, modern and luxurious and ideally located to access Florence and the surrounding areas. Beautiful pool and property ~ you are only a short distance from Porta Romana, yet it feels as though you are in the serene, rolling Tuscan hillside. So peaceful and absolutely the best of both worlds!

Incredible villa and host – fantastic location, very clean/comfortable and secure

  • 5 of 5

An incredible villa that our group of 10 found to be a real delight to stay in. We found all the appointments and facilities modern, clean and tastefully supplied. Located in a fantastic setting that overlooks a valley with olive and fruit trees, the villa is about a 50 minute stroll into town (depending on your pace of course) and a shorter walk of 15 minutes to the grocery store. The wonderful air-conditioning in each of the rooms was a real treat, especially after being out all day visiting the landmarks and museums in Florence. Likewise the pool was a great amenity and provided a great setting for us to sit around.

Olivia, the host of the villa was very helpful over our stay at the villa. She provided us great instructions in calling taxis, showing us where things were and (planned well before our arrival) organized some essential provisions ready for us at the villa. This was a great help to have when we were checking in late in the afternoon. A most enjoyable and memorable villa that we could easily say we would love to visit again.

Some helpful tips for the investigating traveller:

• This property is on a road that doesn't have a pavement for walking on, but there's a small section on the roadside that makes walking in a bit more reassuring (only single file and a bit of courage is needed).

• Taxi companies may not have any cars available on the first attempt, but calling back minutes later and being persistent works best. Please note to leave more time in the mornings (before 10am) to secure a taxi. We experienced a very tight connection in the morning when 45 minutes was spent trying to get a taxi.

Delightful stay for our extended family! This lovely home served as our home base for our family's travels throughout Tuscany! The pool was wonderful for our children as were the accommodations for all. We highly recommend this property as close enough to Florence yet a lovely refuge from the tourists and noise. We would love to come back!

Amazing Villa in Florence, unforgettable 5-star experience!

  • 5 of 5

Although the photos were what drew us to the property in the first place, we were still awestruck when we arrived. The villa is really truly beautiful, much better than we could have ever imagined!! It is the perfect combination of a countryside feel whilst being only minutes to the city centre of Florence. We were out most days enjoying the sites, which were so easily accessible it was possible to have a late start everyday and still do more than we expected. The owners couldn't have been more accommodating, they knew everything about the local areas and beyond and were a gold mine of information. We enjoyed the chef service a few times during our stay and will never forget the tasty meals we experienced here! The kids favorite part of the holiday was of course the pool, which was ready and cleaned everyday for them to enjoy, which meant a little quiet time for us to relax on the terrace and sample the wines and local delicacies. We absolutely could not have enjoyed ourselves any more than we did! Moving in and out of the historic district of town was just perfect, sometimes we walked down to the nearby bus stop, sometimes we took taxis (just a 5 minute ride)..the villa's location is absolutely fantastic! (there is also a few great grocery stores, cafes and restaurants within walking distance). The grounds & pool area are immaculately kept and the interiors are wonderful (all 5 bathrooms were just recently renovated with beautiful Italian marble).. Thank you so much for hosting us and I will definitely be recommending it to anyone who wants to visit the beautiful city of Florence! We will be back soon!

Ultimate location and hospitality!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 adults and 3 children (ages 7, 9, & 11) spent two weeks at the Villa Fontane. The home, the 5 bedrooms, the 5 bathrooms, kitchen and dining area were all tastefully decorated and so comfortable. It had a gated entrance and beautiful grounds as well. It literaly became and felt like our home while in Italy.

The villa could not be in a better location to see Florence. It feels like it is deep in the Tuscan country side but is only a mile from where the historic district of Florence begins at Porta Roma Square. Bus service to Florence was a short walk (.4 mile) but we used taxi or Uber more often. Uber was really excellent in that they all had large and new 7 passenger vans.

The owner’s daughter Olivia and son Antonello were always available if we needed help with even the smallest detail. They had our requested provisions stocked in the kitchen when we arrived. They made excellent restaurant recomendations and reservations for us. They provided a chef to cook a fabulous meal in the home. They even helped with an English apeaking doctor who came to us at the villa.

We live in the United States and rent a home on VRBO. I thought we were excellent hosts at our property but we learned what true hospitality is from Olivia and Antonello.

Out entire family and especialy the children (they loved playing outside in the spacious yard and grounds) made memories that will last a life time. We will certainly recommend this home to our friends and family.

Beautiful, Perfect, Best Family Vacation, Can't wait to go back!

  • 5 of 5

First I would like to say that the Villa was more beautiful than the internet images, decorated impeccably, and incredibly comfortable, including the luxury of a bathroom for every bedroom! The location was perfect, a short taxi from Florence, yet situated in a beautiful Tuscan country setting. The villa owner was incredibly accommodating and very knowledgeable of what is needed to provide a perfect stay for a large family. The villa owner "set up" a chef for us one night, provided directions and suggestions for various itineraries, places to shop for food and anything else we asked, as well as information about transportation, shipping wine, and the list goes on, including ordering in pizza one night for the entire family who was tired from a long day of sightseeing!

The villa was very clean and well maintained and the washer, dryer and dishwasher were much needed. The housekeeper changed our bedding and kept the villa clean, it felt like a fine hotel.

I can't wait to go back! My family is still talking about "their vacation of a lifetime".
