The perfect place to relax and unwind for an extended weekend
Pender Island has always been special to us and once again it did not disappoint . The Coach House is very comfortable and is surrounded by a beautiful garden- the view from the deck to Mortimer's spit is ever changing Thank you Jane for waiting up late to welcome us and for getting up early to wave us off! We will be back.
First time visit to the Penders for the wife and I and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Jane and Dennis were wonderful hosts, friendly and helpful but by no means intrusive. The Coach House had everything we needed and was just as it was in the photos (actually better!!). A beautiful, relaxing setting with views to Port Browning across Mortimer Spit. Based on other reviewers recommendations, we did dine at The Cafe at Hope Bay, which was fabulous and I hiked up Mount Norman with the dog...the views at the top were amazing.
Would recommend this cottage and the islands for a short getaway when you need to relax and unwind.
My husband and I enjoyed 4 amazing days at the gorgeous, romantic, peaceful and relaxing ocean front cottage. The gardens are beautiful and the hosts incredibly kind and helpful. We enjoyed eating on the beautiful water front deck and loved watching the seals and otters play right in front of the place. We paddle board and had a perfect place to store and launch our boards. The location is perfect if you kayak or paddle board and it is an easy and beautiful paddle to an amazing marine park 1 or so mk down the shore. Close by was a very helpful kayak company if you are wanting to try for the first time or rent gear. The kitchen is well equipped and the real fireplace was very charming. The cafe at hope bay had amazing food, but you need a reservation for dinner. I would very much recommend thus cottage and this island. You will not be disappointed!
The Coach House was an incredibly relaxing little getaway with all the comforts of home. We especially enjoyed cooking nice meals with the gas range, barbecue, and herb garden, and dining on the patio overlooking the ocean. It was nice to have a little spot all to ourselves where we could spend our mornings and evenings after a day of exploring the beauty of Pender Island. It's not completely private but the owners were not around a lot and, with all the main windows facing away from the main house, it still felt like our own little place. Would definitely recommend for a couple or small family wanting to get away and slow down time for a few days.
Amazing, bucolic, entrancing place. Gorgeous cottage surrounded by gardens and the ocean. My wife and I had such a relaxing and refreshing stay in this magical place. While on the island be sure to eat at Hope Bay Cafe and climb Mt. Norman!
Jane and Dennis are wonderful hosts. A bouquet of fresh flowers from their amazing gardens greeted us. Our hosts knew when to be in touch and when to allow us our privacy.
The cottage is beautiful. Well appointed, and with everything we needed for a five day stay. (note: the bedroom space is upstairs, the bathroom is on the first floor).
The grounds are lovely. Jane's botanical skills are excellent, and Dennis helped my husband catch crabs!
Pender Island, North and South gave us opportunities for hiking, vistas, and picture taking aplenty.
Not to be Missed: The renowned Disc Golf course.!!! A Blast!. A walk in the forest, and over large rocks, while playing. So much fun!
Also not to be missed: The Cafe @ Hope Bay. New owners (for a year and a half or so) have brought the Fare to a high level indeed. We ate there, nearly every dinner.
I recommend this property to anyone who loves a well appointed cottage and appreciates all things Botanical, and a peaceful get-away.
