The Garden Apartment takes up the ground floor of Casa Pipistrelli. The living room, with its beamed ceilings and tiled floors, has a large open fireplace.. It leads to a garden on one side and a secluded patio on the other. The patio, with a beautiful view over the hills, is a delightful place to eat, shaded by a vine, or to relax in the sun in reclining garden chairs. The apartment has a double bedroom, which also has access to the garden: bathroom with shower. The kitchen leads to the livng room and dining area and has a gas cooker, fridge and sink and all necessary utensils.
There is the option of a second double or twin bedroom with its own entrance, making an ideal accommodation for four people. This bedroom is in the house above the main apartment and has its own en suite bathroom (shower). There is an extra cost for additional bedroom. The apartment is lovely in the summer with its patio and garden, but equally in the winter with the fire place and oil fired central heating.
The three properties described here are all located in Casa Pipistrelli, one of the houses that forms the beautiful hillside hamlet of Peralta, on a south facing hillside above the valley of Camaiore. Casa Pipistrelli is a three storey house.with a one bedroom garden apartment on the ground floor, another one bedroom apartment on the top floor. Both apartments have wonderful views and their own private entrances. Each apartment has its own private terrace and do not overlook each other.
Peralta, with medieval origins, was restored over a period of thirty years with love and imagination by international sculptor Fiore de Henriquez. She created a place that is quite unique. Its commanding position gives Peralta stunning panoramic views over the valley to the sea beyond. Terraces of olive groves, orange and lemon trees, bougainvillea, jasmine covering the stone walls makes the hamlet seem like paradise. Fiore’s sculpture and the manner in which she designed and restored Peralta, give the place its very special character and atmosphere. Perfect base for a holiday, far from busy crowds and yet with easy access to all main Tuscany attractions. It is lovely to return to the peace of Peralta after a busy day. Peralta has various accommodation, mainly self catering, in different buildings.
Peralta can offer:: The beautiful peaceful hamlet of Peralta has a spectacular setting in the Tuscan hills that rise high above the valley of Camaiore. There is a swimming pool on one of the upper terraces, a tranquil spot with a panoramic view towards the sea. The large terrace in front of Peralta is a lovely place to sit with a glass of wine, enjoy the sunsets and meet other guests.
Art at Peralta: As well as for guests who simply wish to relax and enjoy their surroundings and the pool, Peralta also offers an ideal, inspiring setting for creative people: painting, sculpting, writing. A studio for sculpture is available. Writers can settle in and write in peace. Lovely walking country with marked trails through the olive groves and hills dense with chestnut trees and known for their wild flowers in spring and autumn. Walks range from 50 minutes to a delightful restaurant in an adjoining village, to three hours up to the peak of the Mount Prana above Peralta. Peralta is ideal for a family gathering. You can rent as many of the properties that are necessary to house your group.
International sculptor Fiore de Henriquez was living in the area of Camaiore from the 1960's due to its proximity to the Carrara marble quarries and the bronze foundries of nearby Pietrasanta. In the 1970's she found the small hamlet of Peralta, perched on the hillside above Camaiore. It was remote, served only by a footpath, and the buildings were mainly in ruins - their inhabitants having left in the mid 1950's due to the hard living in the hills. No water nor electricity at this time. Fiore fell in love with the hamlet and managed to gradually buy the various houses. She then set about restoring them and the hamlet and created the very unique place that exists today. She died in 2004 and the hamlet was then taken over by a very good friend of her's who is the current owner. . Repairs and renovations are undertaken where necessary, but the essential essence of the hamlet remains the same as when Fiore was alive. It is the home of her archive and sculptures, which can be seen throughout the grounds and in the various accommodation.
It is hard to describe the absolute charm and beauty of Peralta and why I am so passionate about it. I now own it and am as much in love with it as Fiore before me. Every corner has its surprises, small details to delight the eye. The wisterias and bougainvilleas offer vibrant colour and essential shade. The views are wonderful, changing with the light, with the weather, with the season. Sunsets are magic. Early morning mist lying in the valley. The sight of Corsica on a clear day. The large bronze sculpture of 'The Phoenix' on the main terrace about to fly off over the valley. Fiore used to say it signifies 'Peralta rising from the ashes'. The many sculptures Fiore left for visitors to enjoy on the terraces. Her private gallery which I love to show to guests and one evening a week, at aperitivo time, I invite any guests staying at Peralta to a viewing of the gallery and Fiore's original house I hope many visitors will find their way to Peralta and enjoy it as much I do ......... possibly even fall in love with it! This beautiful hamlet is private, quiet and in the most gorgeous setting. the pool is situated on an elevated plateau with a stunning view, plenty of space to sunbathe and relax. the pool is quite small but deep and very refreshing. the accommodation is as described - rustic and charming, clean and well-maintained. We had a wonderful stay and would return for sure.

We were a group of 15 people and booked Peralta to celebrate our 50s anniversairy.
We had a wonderful week there and are still under the charm of Tuscany and this lovely place.
Bravo again to Dinah to keep Peralta and Fiora's souvenir alive and thanks a lot Kate for your kindness.
Hope come back again.

We had a wonderful stay at Peralta this summer, the place is just stunning ! People are so nice and welcoming, our apartment was very nicely decorated with a wonderful view on the toscan hills. Our terrace was great for breakfast or peaceful drinks at night. It is a perfect Italian summer place where you want to come back every year !
Having read the previous review of Pipistrelli I can honestly say I couldn't have had a more different experience of staying in this apartment. The house itself is a stunning example of Tuscan building, with a real homely feel. It is decorated beautifully and has a perfect little kitchen to make your morning coffee and a relaxing seating area to lounge the afternoons away after a busy time exploring Luca and the surrounding areas. Everything was spotlessly clean and I found the bed to be very comfortable, I slept so well for my entire stay. Peralta as a whole is a beautiful place, and more than just because of the buildings, the artwork dotted around the land, the very helpful and friendly staff and the animals (of which I only counted 1 dog Ellie who was very friendly and without any fleas as far as I could see!), it has an incredibly special feeling about it which stays with you long after you leave. I can only imagine the previous review was from people who didn't quite understand the magic of Peralta as I certainly would recommend (and have already done just that) this apartment to friends and family, and I can't wait to go back and visit Dinah, Kate, and the team (plus Ellie the dog) again.
On the positive side, this location is beautiful and the swimming pool area is lovely.
The same cannot be said of the apartment. The bathroom has mould and the smell permeates throughout the apartment in a horrible fashion. The apartment is also filthy with cobwebs on the walls and across the ceilings and dirt on the living room floor. The bed had broken slats which were left under the bed and the sheets and towels were old and threadbare. Several things were broken in the apartment including the backdoor so it is impossible to lock.
The other thing that was a particular problem for us is the large number of animals on the property (5 dogs, 3 cats on our visit) which roam through your apartment if you don't shut the doors. They all have fleas and more importantly, you are not told this in advantage, which is a problem if you have an allergy.
All in all would not recommend this apartment.
We had our 8 days holiday in Peralta at the end of The August. We had read great reviews about Peralta and everything was just like we had heard. Peralta was most beautiful and peaceful and the view from the hill was breathtaking. During our stay we hiked at hills to the nearest Hamlets and we climbed to the top of the Prana. We also visited at Lucca, Pisa and The Cingue Terre. But the best part of the day was relaxing afternoon at the Peralta`s pool with glass of prosecco and some tapas after hike or day trip. We enjoyed Laura´s delicious meals twice and rest of the evenings we had lovely dinners at the local restaurants. You can easily find them from the info book at the apartment or ask Kate. Self-servise bar at main house worked fine and it was nice to see other guests at the main terrace. Peralta´s Staff Kate, Steven and Laura was always very helpful and kind... and the Ellie (dog) was great company with her ball. We have travelled around the world and seen lot of places. Peralta ... we will be back .. next time with our frieds. Thank You for all the kindness.
Peralta is a unique, beautiful collection of living spaces that offer a private setting for each family. We rented Pipistrelli which had a small kitchen, separate bedroom, and comfortable living room. The private patio had a breathtaking view to the Mediterrean where we ate breakfast and enjoyed a glass of wine in the evening. The staff is wonderful; efficient, friendly, and helpful. It is a white knuckle drive up, but once there, you have reached the essence of the Italian experience.

The road comes to an end in our car park. From there you walk to Peralta itself (about 200 yards/meter).
