Cayuga Lake House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 7)

Beautiful three bedroom single family home located in the Town of Ithaca. We are only 1.5 miles from downtown Ithaca, but it is a world apart. Private lot with private dock and private swimming and grass area down by the lake. We update and renovate the house regularly. Some recent upgrades include repainting the kitchen, a new HD TV, new leather living room couch, new carpets in upstairs bedrooms, master bedroom recently re-painted, new glass light fixture, new grout in bathroom, new granite bathroom sink, a family canoe, new Kayak rack, new kitchen chairs, new outdoor furniture.

This is fun kitchen to cook in since you are lakeside. Kitchen has sliding glass doors to large lakeside deck. Cherry floors, granite countertops, pendant lights, dishwasher, garbage disposal, oversized fridge, eat-in table with seating for seven. Gorgeous views from almost every room, including 8 windows in the living room, 3 in the master bedroom, 3 windows and a three paneled sliding glass door in the kitchen and a 6 bay window and large picture windows in the downstairs bedroom. The house has been completely modernized and renovated. It is not a musty lake rental! Hardwood floors and beautiful finishing touches everywhere. You will not walk in the front door and be disappointed. All kitchen items (pots, pans, dishes) and sheets included. Renters bring their own towels.

Bedrooms: Master w/ fantastic views of Cornell and King Bed. Bay Window Room with Fantastic views of the lake and Queen Bed. Purple room with Skylights and 3 Twin Beds (2 can be pushed together).

VRBO Testimonials from before they had customer reviews (we have been doing this a long time!):

From March '09: Ms. Greenwald: I just wanted you to know we had a great time in Ithaca during our stay two weeks ago. It was a really nice get away. There is really a lot to do in the area. Your house is beautiful and I see now why you had such a hard time leaving! Thank you! N.R.

From April '09: Carolyn, Just wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful time staying at your home in Ithaca. It is an absolutely beautiful home in a perfect location. We all had a lovely time! K.M.

Here is a thank-you card I received in the mail: 'Dear Carolyn. I wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed our vacation week at your lakehouse in Ithaca. It is such a beautiful house and has all the comforts of home -- PLUS that gorgeous lake. We liked the convenient location, too It is so close to downtown Ithaca and is also close to our daughter's home on ______ Road. Thank you for sharing it with us. Thank you, too for the prompt return of our security deposit. Sincerely, M.K.'

Pet Policy: Not many upscale places allow pets. We do because we love our dogs and they love to travel with us. This is a great place for dog, not only because they can go swimming, but because the deck and grass are all fenced in. You can let the dog out from the kitchen without even leaving the house. You must clean up after your pet, of course. We charge only a $30 fee for dogs that we spend on end of the year professional carpet cleaners.

House is professionally cleaned between tenants. Tenants are asked to bring up and tag garbage on Tuesday evenings. (Tags provided). Tenants are asked to leave the house 'broom clean.'

Who Can Rent:

It is a quite area and is not appropriate for loud/late night parties. Also, all guests must be able to navigate stair with ease.

Why Carolyn Greenwald chose Cayuga Lake

Ithaca is a fantastic vacation spot. It is located on beautiful Cayuga Lake, the longest and deepest of the finger lakes. You can boat, dock, fish or swim right off our dock. Ithaca has three amazing state parks with fantastic hikes, amazing views and great swimming, with Taughannock Park just up the road. Ithaca is directly on the finger lakes wine trail and many wonderful wineries are nearby. There are many top quality restaurants and plenty of places to grab a quick bite. If you stay at our house, you will have easy access to Taughannock Park, Cass Park, the Hanger Theater, downtown and to Wegmans (a top supermarket), so you won't have to spend a lot of time in the car. There is also a wonderful farmer's market in Ithaca with music, good produce and a great community vibe. In other words, you can relax and do nothing but stare at nature or partake easily in many outdoor activities, it will be up to you.

What makes this house unique

The house has several wonderful features. First and foremost is the location. You are directly on the lake. You can swim. You can boat. You can jump in the lake off the dock. You can sit on the deck and relax. At the same time, we are just 1.5 miles from shops and downtown Ithaca. You have all the benefits of the lake and wine country without having to drive 25 minutes to the supermarket. My next favorite feature of the house is the sliding doors in the kitchen. You can eat outside on the deck just as easily as you can eat inside at the kitchen table. As soon as we put in those doors, we had breakfast outside every day for months. It is wonderful. The next best feature of the house is the lakeside deck. It is a great place to sit and relax or BBQ or have a cool drink.

Perfect getaway with a view

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay on Cayuga. The house is clean, well furnished, and has incredible views. The deck was massive, with enough trees on the property to feel private. We grilled every night, the dogs swam in the lake, and our family got the unplugged vacation we needed, while being just outside Ithaca for anything we needed. Thank you so much for this great house!

Owner's Response: We are so happy you were able to have relaxing family time on the deck. When we built the deck, easy lakeside dining was exactly what I had in mind. The builders and architect though the deck would be too big, but it is really the perfect size for a comfortable dining and grilling experience. Thank you for sharing your impressions with future travelers. ~ Carolyn

Charming Lake House!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here! It was so close to Ithaca College where my son is a student and we were back and forth all weekend, and into town within minutes and easily to and from the falls and parks! The lake is spectacular, the house so well appointed and comfortable, plenty of room for everyone. Rental agent was incredibly accessible. We will absolutely come back!!

Owner's Response: Thank for letting IC and CU parents know how convenient the house for college visitors. Both schools are only a short ten minute drive. FYI, everyone, I am not a rental agent as much as I am a home owner. My husband and I pretty much built this house and return often with our family and friends. I do try to be helpful. :) Please come back, return tenants are our best customers.

A water dog's dream

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful place for family and pets. We had a great time in February and our dogs utilized the unfrozen waters of Cayuga.

Two-level living spaces and good bunk space. Everything was clean and in place. Pets will enjoy the lake but rest assured, there is no direct access that is not controlled by a gate, so pets won't wander (unless they take the plunge from the dock). Kitchen is well-stocked and functional. Wireless internet works flawlessly. Access is via numerous steep stairs down to the residence but everything is solid.

Simple 5 minute drive to center Ithaca. Great place. Will hopefully come again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for sharing with future tenant's that our house is a dog lover's dream. We are dog lovers for sure. Dogs love to swim and they can easily from our property. We also appreciate all future tenants knowing that there are a bunch of steps to the house so you must be able bodied. We hope to have you back as a return tenant. Return tenants are 50% of our guests. ~Carolyn & Adam

Beautiful Cayuga Lake Home

  • 5 of 5

We spent New Year's weekend at this lovely lake home. When we arrived house was warm, immaculate and very inviting. There are million dollar views from living room and kitchen. We were able to have a fire in the fire pit at the lake side while the snow was falling. Lake home is close to shopping, grocery stores and wineries but yet private and relaxing. We appreciate that our dog is welcome, as he loves traveling with us. Carolyn is very accommodating and so helpful. Thank you for sharing your piece of heaven with us.

Owner's Response: Having lived on the lake at this house year round for seven years, I also know the fun of a snowy New Year's Eve. I am impressed that you made a fire. Dogs are welcome because I also love traveling with my dogs (and dog owners make great tenants). We hope to hear from you again.

Beautiful Cayuga Lake Retreat

  • 5 of 5

The home had everything we needed for a relaxing family visit. Comfortable sitting area with great views of lake, the kitchen was very well stocked and beds comfortable. Overall immaculate home with a welcoming vibe. Due to the chilly weather we didn't use the outdoor amenities, but the layout was impressive and we would have definitely enjoyed what the house had to offer if the weather had been accommodating.

The only down side is the driveway out to the road, but that is not unusual for houses on Cayuga Lake & the renters clearly warned us it is a little tricky to maneuver.

Owner's Response: It makes me really happy to hear that our house has a "welcoming vibe." This house is near and dear to my family and we always like to share it with those who enjoy lake views and visits to Ithaca. Future tenants, please note that the driveway is steep.
