The NONswimming beach here is beautiful, but is shallow for such a long way out and can be rocky also and so is not practical for swimming. The views of the bay and Koolau mountains and Chinaman's Hat Island are breathtaking from here. The waters here are very protected and lend themselves nicely to boating and paddleboarding.
There is a white sandy beach 3 minutes drive away at Kualoa Beach Park. It is one of the ten top rated beaches on Oahu and has extremely safe and protected waters for all ages.

I manage this family owned property. I currently reside on the island of Kauai with my husband and daughter where I help take care of our farm and work as a veterinarian.
Leilani Sim-Godbehere purchased this house in 1995
Our family shipped these Miinahasa Island homes over from Sulawesi, Indonesia and rebuilt them with great difficulty. The area here is rural and a far contrast to the bustle of Honolulu.
I personally lived in each of these homes over many years and have never loved living in any home more.
The charming ambiance and warmth of the chempaca wood homes is magical. All I need to be happy is food and to stay at Hale 'O Bali or Java Kai!!! I don't feel any need to leave this property and am awestruck each time I come home not only by the views but by the lovely, cozy feel these homes exude.
I've been preparing this romantic, unique home to be as comfortable as it is delightful. I welcome everyone to Hale'O Bali to share in the beauty and joy that our island paradise provides.
We just spent a week at Hale 'O Bali, and had a fabulous time. This home sits on the windward side, in an area that, in our opinion, is the most breathtakingly beautiful area of Oahu. We love renting a cottage instead of staying in a hotel, as it feels more like we are 'living' in the place, rather than visiting it. For us, Hale 'O Bali was the perfect choice. With it's unique Indonesian/island architectural character, rural setting with stunning views of both the ocean and the mountains, and awakening to roosters and birds chirping, just being in the house made us feel very connected to nature, and a real part of Hawaii.
The house was spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. The bedroom is large, and there's a ton of drawer and closet space. I wished the shower was a smidge bigger, but that's no big deal. Over all, the bathroom was very nice. Lots of towels and plenty of towel bars to let things dry in the tropical climate, and a washer and dryer. During our visit, it rained often, which is very normal for that part of Hawaii, and why it is so gloriously beautiful. Our benchmark for a great place to stay is "is it a good rainy day house" - can you be happy there if weather or other factors keep you couped up for a while. Hale 'O Bali is perfect, because even when you're at home, you are looking out through an entire wall of windows, on to beautiful mountains, lush foliage, and the ocean. Outdoor living is great with a very large deck, nicely furnished. It is ocean front, though it is not a swimming beach. We consider this a plus, as there were no beach-goers out our window. Just lovely foliage, a huge lawn leading to the water, and a half dozen swaying palms framing the view of the ocean. For your beach fix, just hop in the jeep and go up the road in either direction, and you've got beaches galore. Although the home gives you a lovely away-from-it-all feeling, it is a short (and stunningly beautiful) drive south to Kailua and Lanikai beaches, an easy, and gorgeous, jaunt to Honolulu, and right on the way to the wonderful North Shore.
All in all, we would highly recommend this house. It is a unique experience. The owner provided us with excellent service, the home and grounds are beautifully maintained, and we had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. We would stay there again, in a minute, and heartily recommend it to others traveling to Oahu.

My family and I had an amazing time here!! The house is beautiful and the views of the mountains and ocean are absolutely stunning. Can't wait to come back!
I stayed 7 days with my children 10and 6 years old.
During daytime, this house is good. Wide inner space, great frontyard, cute back yard.
But in night, bedroon has much dust and my daughter`s allergic rhinitis is moderate. The house is hot and there is not air-conditioner. There are much mosquitos and we had 3 terrible night and then we had to buy insect spray.
But I enjoyed my holiday well but my chilren does not like this house.
I recemmend cleaning this house and bring air-conditioner.
I am Korean and this is my second time in ohau.
We liked the security gate. We were there by ourselves the scenery was beautiful and easy to travel to other parts of the island. I really enjoyed the unique construction of the home a true piece of craftsmanship. If you enjoy the quiet get away from the crowds type of holiday you would enjoy this home...the owner did provide excellent service. I would like to return with my entire family and rent both houses.
If you are looking to get away from all the craziness of the Waikiki and Honolulu area...this is the place to be. One of our favorite pastimes was enjoying our morning coffee and watching those gorgeous sunrises. Peaceful and private, the view and the grounds are beautiful. Loved the feeling of walking barefoot on the beautiful tile floors throughout the entire house and lanai.
The property is located in an area that is close to almost any activity you are looking to experience...beautiful beaches, hiking, kayaking, shopping, local eateries....
The house we were in (Hale O' Bali) was clean and well stalked and really gave you the feeling of being in the islands. We loved our stay here.
Leilani was a pleasure to work with and was always available to answer any questions we had. If we ever come back to Oahu, this is where I would want to stay and would recommend this beautiful place to anyone.

Hale O'Bali is located on the beautiful windward side of Oahu! We enjoyed beautiful sunrises every morning! The continuos flowing waterfall in the pond help drown out the noises from the road. We had no bullfrogs. Hale O'Bali was clean and the long lawn well maintained. My husband and I are not fussy and spent most of our time touring the island or spending time on the deck. Hale O'Bali could use some updates. The blinds need to be replaced, the futon couch is not very comfortable, and the loft bed needs a more secure headboard. None of this bothered us but if you are fussy and expect 5 star accommodations then rent the main house which has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths and is very nicely furnished. The entire complex would make an awesome wedding venue. It has a long level lawn with ocean and cliff views. The groom and best man could stay in Hale O'Bali and the Bride, maid of honor and parents could stay in the main house. A small intimate wedding reception could be accommodated on the decks and a larger reception on the lawn. Of course all this would have to be arranged and agreed upon by the owner but it would be quite beautiful! Mahalo Leilani we had a wonderful time!
