Originally from Pennsylvania, I spent most of my life traveling on ships, and ashore all around the world. I chose Hawaii as the best place to live because of its spectacular beauty, and it still offers all of the luxuries and conveniences that can only be found in America.
Kevin or John purchased this condo in 1998
After 15 years of living;, loving and exploring the Hawaiian Islands, my wife and I decided that the North Shore of Kauai, and in particular, Puu Poa condos in the Princeville Resort, is the most beautiful location in all the islands. It also offers everything that anyone could ask for to live life to its fullest.
Because Puu Poa 204 is our home when we are not traveling, it offers many amenities that you will not find in a typical vacation rental. We are sure that you will find as much joy and fun as we have in this incredibly special part of the world!
Hello Kevin - We really enjoyed our stay in Kauai at your beautiful condo unit! I wish I could hear the stories of all the unique furniture pieces in your unit! Your dad was absolutely delightful when we spoke with him about details of the area, directions, and the unit. Everything we needed was conveniently there! Loved the snorkeling at Hidaway Beach and sitting on the lanai watching the beautiful sunsets. Truely peaceful and relaxing! Thanks for sharing your paradise!
My husband and I recently enjoyed our honeymoon in Kauai. Our stay was absolutely amazing and our accommodations at Puu Poa 204 were outstanding! The condo is extremely spacious and clean. The best part of waking up in the very comfortable King bed was the ability to look out the window at the breathtaking Pacific Ocean. The sun and living room provided us with ample space to relax and watch TV. We spent many nights sitting on the Lanai, watching the sunset or just relaxing to the waves of the ocean.
The condo is conveniently located in a quiet area of Princeville. It is within walking distance of many delicious restaurants at the St. Regis hotel who host a delicious breakfast buffet in addition to quick access to a grocery store. You are also within a short driving distance of Hanalei Bay which provided us with excellent restaurant choices, more beaches to explore, and boutiques.
There are numerous beaches located nearby; however, if you decide to take the trail to the more exclusive beach near the condo, prepared to be amazed. The scenery is like something out of a movie. You feel like you could be experiencing one of the most beautiful places in the world.
We have already recommended this condo to family and friends and can’t wait to come back here ourselves!
Our stay on the North Shore in the Pu'u Po'a Unit 204 was excellent! There is very little I could say that would improve this home.
Every morning you woke up to the sounds of the waves, the fun of watching the surfers, and at least once a day, the sight of a humpback whale spouting, and on more than one occasion, breaching! It was a delight. The accommodation was wonderful...we had to drive to most places for a variety of activities, which at first we thought was a hassle, but after visiting the other "shores", we felt for our quiet nature, the North Shore was the best! Not crowded, quiet, peaceful. Although the walk to the beach was a bit of a challenge, it was VERY worth it. The beach was serene, not crowded, great snorkeling, and just plain beautiful. Shopping at Princeville for groceries was easy...and great food everywhere! The shops there were fun and the people delightful! Thank you, Kevin and John for sharing this wonderful slice of heaven, and for answering my emails so promptly. Every question was answered!
I loved having the washer/dryer...made packing easy...the master bedroom was very nice...would be ideal for a couple! They had all the "gadgets" to entertain and great references to read about the flora, fauna, and a little about the history of the island. We did several activities at Princeville Ranch that were excellent...the zip line was great and my husband enjoyed the three hour horseback ride where he saw a lot of beautiful country and heard a lot of local history!
All in all, I would return to Unit 204 in a heartbeat! And will someday!
The second floor location of this condo made for extremely easy access. The view is full ocean all the way! Both bedrooms where very comfortable. The kitchen is very well stocked so you can cook everything. The owner was very easy to deal with. I would gladly stay here again!
My girlfriend and I loved our nearly two week stay in Kevin's condo. There is so much that was perfect about the place. First the location - next door to ST Regis and to the public beach below St Regis. We spend a lot of our days walking to the beach with a cooler. We were surprised that the snorkeling was really good there as the beach is not really known for snorkeling. Tip if you go: go further out on the reef as it's shallow and full of fish. Back to the condo: the views are absolutely stunning and expansive and we fell asleep every night listening to the ocean. Loved the large lanai and the privacy and quietness of the condo. We actually checked out condos on 3rd and 4th floors, and would stay on the 2nd floor again. The ground floor units are tucked in so you are not looking at anyone below- just the ocean!
If you have been to Hawaii before, you know that many places get a musky smell. Not this one! Fans and windows and no carpet make it nice, cool, and fresh smelling. The condo is also nicely upgraded. Perhaps not top of the line luxury (e.g older kitchen appliances, and bathroom fixtures) but really nice and comfortable and clean. The bed is comfortable, washer and dryer really handy, and nice decor. We also enjoyed the enclosed sunroom on rainy days.
It was also great to find kitchen stocked with necessities, beach chairs, coolers, toys, and so many towels and sheets! Other details like the Keurig coffee, regular coffee machine, cleaning supplies, beach towels were also a nice touch. All in all, we would (and hope to) stay here again in a heart beat. As I said, there are units in this luxurious condo complex (about 1.5 million each) that are perhaps all modern or completely upgraded, but it's not worth the price you would pay. At least not to us as this was great, spacious, updated, comfortable, and with incredibly beautiful views.
There is also a running trail that starts outside the condo. Hanalei bay and town about a ten minute drive. We tried every restaurant in Hanalei and the only disappointment was the Postcards. Loved Bar Acura and Calypso. We shopped at Foodland and stocked up on groceries. Great poke at foodland!
Thank you Kevin for sharing your place with us and hope to come back soon. This was my sixth time on Kauai and first on the North Shore. we may have just found our perfect home base for all future Kauai trips. Did I mention the most incredible views!!! I miss it already.
Our family of 4 had a wonderful time on the north shore. This was our first visit to Kauai and were blessed to find this gem of a condo in Princeville. Couldn't ask for a better location and owners who were so great to work with, helpful and accommodating. The unit was nice and easy to access from the parking lot. We found the place clean and cozy. Loved having laundry amenity in the unit as well as a Keurig coffee machine. Sometimes it's the little things!
The only challenge we had was adjusting to the humidity and warm climate (there is no AC in the unit, as is common in most places). I don't know if there's a way to add some kind of window treatment/cover option to the front room/atrium but when the sun is shining through, it can have a bit of a green house effect and the place gets quite warm. But the sound of the ocean waves while falling asleep and waking is priceless.
Our kids enjoyed the pool as well as the beach at St. Regis Hotel (very close by). The Hideaway Beach located right below the condo was our first adventure. It is so worth the rather steep hike down. Gorgeous!
If we ever return to the Garden Isle of paradise, we will definitely be booking this location and condo again. Thank you Kevin and John for one of the best vacations our family has taken! You were very kind and helpful.
This condo had quite a few things going for it and just a couple of knocks to take off the shiny 5th star.
Location, location, location. We love the North Shore, and this place next to Hanalei Bay and not too far from my favorite Ke'e Beach.
Hideaway beach was also one my faves, right down the path
Views! All across the apartment. Constant ocean over the green cliff.
Wonderful, large lanai
Close to St Regis. We spent a day in the rented cabana for pool and beach access. Wonderful day without the expense of staying there all week
Well furnished & supplied with towels, towels, towels
I don't mind a lack of air conditioning when the winds blow through with cool ocean air, but in the bathrooms it just got too hot and humid -- sometimes when you've been in the sun all
Which is why they may also have been a bit dingy and in need of either a revamp
The kitchen had a lot of dishes that needs serious cleaning before use.
The beach was a bit of a muddy, difficult climb down and up that my 4 and 8 year olds couldn't handle --- which meant the beach wasn't accessible from the condo ... we had to drive to it
