Northern Michigan House Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, 1 half bath. Sleeps 8 adults comfortably. MAXIMUM 10

More than just a place to sleep! Relax and enjoy incredible Lake Michigan sunsets from the deck of this spacious, beautifully decorated beach house. Open floor plan includes a great room with eat-in kitchen, breakfast nook and snack table, large sitting area with panoramic views throughout. There is a separate TV room with flat panel TV & satellite. The four large bedrooms (three upstairs, one downstairs) include a Master suite with master bath and walk-in shower, a beautiful romantic lakeside bedroom with balcony, a rustic bedroom complete with twig furnishings, and a cozy downstairs bedroom with its own bath.

Enjoy the lake from the balcony or deck, or step out to the white sand beach for a stroll, swimming, sunning, beach combing or kayaking.

Take in wonderful local golf courses or drive just three miles to Mackinaw City where you can cross the Mackinac Bridge to the town of St. Ignace, take the ferry to Mackinac Island, enjoy summer concerts, visit the shops, restaurants or historic sites, or play putt-putt.

Home Details: Remodeled, beautiful four-bedroom home. The house is fully furnished and tastefully decorated. It provides many areas to gather as well as quiet corners to escape. The main living area and eat-in kitchen are open with tiled floors, seating for lounging and eating, and offer sweeping views of Lake Michigan. The TV room is carpeted with a sofa, chairs and coffee table/ottoman, papason chair, and straight chairs, books and games. The TV is a wall-mounted flat panel with basic satellite, DVD player and VCR.

All bedrooms are carpeted and beautifully furnished. The spacious master suite offers views overlooking the beach and lake, and opens to the upstairs deck which is perfect for enjoying the view and a good book. The master bath is tiled with large walk-in shower, double vanity and separate commode area. Two upstairs guest rooms share a large guest bath with dual vanity. One opens to the upstairs deck. The downstairs bedroom offers a cozy retreat down its own hall with it's own bath.

Location, Location, Location: This two-story house is located on a beautiful sandy strip of Lake Michigan shoreline, in a private community at the edge of Wilderness State Park. The beach is easily accessible with a short boardwalk and path leading to the smooth shore area. Here you can relax in the beach chairs, walk the shoreline, swim, play or kayak (two single, one double available). Build a fire in the copper fire pit at night for s'mores and you're ready to stargaze.

Just three miles south of Mackinaw City, The Mackinac Bridge, and Ferry Lines to Mackinac Island. You can cross the nearly five-mile suspension bridge to Michigan's Upper Peninsula and the town of St. Ignace. Plan a day trip, and drive up to Whitefish Point and the Shipwreck Museum where you can learn about the wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald, stopping at Tahquamenon Falls on your way.

Beautiful Golf Courses surround the area. Some of our favorites are Hidden River Golf and Casting Club, Little Traverse Bay, and the courses of Boyne Highlands.

Home Away from Home: More than just a place to sleep. We have furnished this as if it were our permanent home, with beautiful, solid furnishings and simple decor.

Though there are many sights to see in the area, you may never want to leave. This house is furnished and supplied so that you have all you need to relax and enjoy your vacation from the time you arrive. In addition to the amenities mentioned, you'll find all the comforts of home. Morning coffee takes on a whole new meaning when you're watching the lake come to life. Evening meals taste better with the sun setting on the lake as you sit around the large picnic table.

There is a double kayak and two single kayaks with paddles and life jackets for your use. You'll find toys, coolers and tote bags in the 'summer closet.' The deck is large and seats 8-10 people in addition to the large picnic table in the lower deck grilling area.

About Tam Pursley

We live in Georgia, but have vacationed in Michigan for over forty years. We love the beautiful, clear summer days and the crisp, cool nights. For us there is no place that compares to Northern Michigan!

Tam Pursley purchased this house in 2007

Why Tam Pursley chose Northern Michigan

After vacationing in Northern Michigan for many years, we began searching for a home to buy. We looked in many areas and communities, for several summers, and didn't really even consider Mackinaw City,

... until we looked at this home, and it's location. It fit our needs wonderfully with the soft, sandy shore, clear shallow water, friendly neighbors, and the convenience to town with the feeling of being far removed.

The home we purchased was a small ranch. We remodeled by opening up and extending where we could, and adding a second floor with spacious bedrooms and an airy deck. We were able to keep a portion of the original cabin, by utilizing the knotty pine living room as the separate den / tv room.

The location and the open-plan home are perfect for our family vacations, golf trips, and girls outings.

What makes this house unique

We are located in a small bay, just around the point from the Mackinaw Bridge. The sheltered bay and shallow water make our beaches sandy, and help the water warm just a little more than the deeper, colder waters of Lake Michigan. The lake and our shoreline are different every day. We love the glass-like, still water often seen in the early morning, and we love the crashing waves and surf that a blustery day can bring. Being inside as a storm rolls in is a treat as well. But nothing beats the sunsets from our deck as a long day comes to an end.

PERFECT for our family!

  • 5 of 5

We had a mixture of adults (5) and small children (5). This house suited our needs perfectly. The beach and water were far enough away for safety, but close enough for convenience. Plus, the water was waist deep (to an adult) for a very long ways. The kayaks were a great treat too! The flat yard close to the house was a bonus for kicking the balls around or playing a game of tag. The adults enjoyed the balcony, porch, and picnic table while the kids ran around. The sunsets were also AMAZING, a great way to end a perfect day. If your family enjoys cooking like mine, this kitchen was PERFECT! Great stove and big refrigerator. The open layout was great for family conversations and the "TV room" was a cozy place to cuddle up and watch a movie. During our vacation, we were able to visit Mackinaw Island, Tahquemenon falls, Fort Michilimackinac, and Sault Ste Marie. HIGHLY recommend this house!!

Loved every aspect of our vacation.

  • 5 of 5

The property was as stated, and more. The pictures do not do it justice. The house was very clean and orderly. The sandy beach was perfect for all of us, from our 5 year old granddaughter to the grandparents. The water, warm and clear. There were nine of us staying the week. We still had plenty of room. I hope to be back.

Wonderful vacation experience

  • 5 of 5

Pristine cottage was even bigger and better than anticipated for our family of 8. Beach with no rocks or seaweed - just smooth sand made swimming a joy anytime of the day. Beautiful, uninterrupted sunsets was the perfect way to end the day. Highly recommend!

Excellent. The time of our lives.

  • 4 of 5

The pictures were spot on, in fact didn't even do its justice. The place was magnificent. Every room was comfortable, clean, and had something unique to offer. The linens were fluffy and clean. The toys available on the property to use were just right and in good shape. Everything was in working order and our family created unforgettable memories. The house was huge, enough room for 10 of us to have space when needed. The water pressure and "little things" that help your stay were all wonderful. It was nice of the previous people to leave a few essentials for when we arrived and we of course did the same for the next group. Home was easy to keep clean and in order. Washing machine worked well. The only tiny thing that we were not prepared for is arriving without enough kitchen appliances. We cook a lot! And store a lot! Needed some extra pans, griddle, and things like that. They were stocked well, but if you do some fancier things, you may need to bring your own. The other thing that we did not realize is the bugs and spiders. While it was nothing out of the ordinary for northern Michigan, our family from out of state was not really prepared by having the right sprays and bug essentials, perhaps some candles too. Other than those two areas, this place was phenomenal. The beach was perfect, sandy, and warm. We had two days of calm water and 5 days of fun waves. We would absolutely choose this place again. Thank you.

Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived, I was first struck by the open space in the kitchen and dining room, and the beautiful view of the lake from this area. My 1-year old really picked up her walking skills in this area. Mackinaw Island was only open for one more day, so after enjoying the island, we spent most of our time in the home enjoying some family time. We would love to come back in the summer when we can actually enjoy the water as well!
