Lee Williams purchased this cabin in 1988
Location, Location, Location! We wanted a family neighborhood with flat access in the winter. With in walking distance to Tahoe City which is the quiet part of the lake (no casinos and the related problems & noises). We are at the entrance to the Truckee River for rafting, biking paths and single track entrance to Paige Meadows is on the next corner street. Nice sunny front deck. World class skiing in the winter and everything to do in the summer. What else can I say?
Quietness, nice neighborhood of great people, sunny deck, great location to a host of outdoor activities, close to the lake and commons beach. Walk to Tahoe House (the best coffee and bakery in all of Tahoe) Forget about Starbucks! Sunnyside, Jakes on the Lake, Rosies, Firesign Cafe, Wolfdales, River Ranch, and more great places to eat nearby if you don't want to cook. Come up just to hang out or do it all!
The family and I have stayed twice for skiing at the Chalet and both times have been a great experience. The place is very welcoming and has a personal touches that make you feel like you are staying at a friends place versus a rental. Lee is always responsive and accommodating. Love the Wood Stove for the fire place. You are 5 minutes from the Lake and Tahoe City.
Will definitely stay here again.
My husband, mom and 2 kids (6 and 8) enjoyed a great 4 night getaway in Tahoe City. I have never rented a cabin before but working with the owner was easy and very straightforward. I got the keys early. The check-in and check-out instructions were clear. And, there was no need to laundry either since my $150 cleaning fee covered everything after we left. The house was very clean. The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of extra pillows and blankets available if needed. The sectional couch fit all 5 of us with plenty of leftover space. One large chair-and-a-half was a great perch to read by the window. The garage is filled with chairs for 6 and tables for the deck. The BBQ had propane and was ready to go! There is even a blower to blow off any needles or twigs that may have fallen on the deck. My kids totally loved the upstairs kid's room: it had two very nicely decorated twin beds and one full bed; a foosball table; and a TV with DVD. Plus a closet big enough for the kids to play in as a fort! The second bedroom upstairs is big enough to put up a pack-n-play if needed or for a small child to sleep on the sofa. Grandma enjoyed her queen bed as well! The upstairs bath is newly redecorated and quite cute. My little guy (6 yo) did mention that the shower was "small" compared to our oversized one at home, but I believe it is a standard size and tiled with slate-very pretty! In fact, the decorating throughout the cabin was tastefully done in mountain style with whimsical bears throughout. The downstairs bedroom was just fine for my husband and I, and it was quiet enough not to hear anyone else who got up in the morning before us. The downstairs bathroom has a combo tub/shower which was satisfactory. The kitchen is what drew me to the house: it has a large island counter with bar stools. My kids loved to eat and watch dad prep meals while feeling like "big" kids at the counter. The kitchen has everything you would need too cook: pots and pans; strainer; two coffee makers and an espresso machine (!); sharp knives; and plenty of spices and oils, etc. We enjoyed the wood burning fireplace as well. The owner has the wood neatly stacked next to the fireplace, with more in the garage. Bonus is that the house is just a quick drive (or 15 min walk) to everything! Shops, cafes, skiing, bike trails, the lake, etc. This is a wonderful family home and we look forward to coming back again!
Getaway Chalet was the perfect place for us to stay during our recent two-week skiing vacation. It was our home away from home; well above and beyond what one would normally encounter in rental accommodation with top quality appliances and amenities plus an abundance of quirky, bear-y, woods-y, cabin-y furnishings and decorating features throughout.
Owner Lee was welcomingly responsive to our initial inquiries, and it was a delight to arrive to find the home was just as pretty as we had been led to expect: everything was of high quality, well-maintained and sparkling clean; the kitchen was well-stocked, the laundry washing machine and dryer were modern and just enormous; the heating and hot water worked efficiently; and there was an ample supply of paper products and chopped wood for the fire.
The layout of the chalet worked really well - the master bedroom and one bathroom downstairs, and another double bedroom plus large third bedroom and second bathroom upstairs. This produced not only an intimate, cosy atmosphere but also privacy. The living area was also well-designed to combine kitchen, dining and lounge areas in a functional way which allowed for good interaction when we were not on the slopes.
The chalet's close proximity to West Lake Blvd and Tahoe City had attracted us in the first place, however its position in a quiet, attractive street was an added bonus.
We hope that at some time in the future we can once again experience the pleasure of staying in this beautiful home.
My husband, mom, brother, sister and I (plus our two dogs) stayed here over Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time! Lee was so responsive throughout - from my initial inquiry to after we returned home. The cabin is nicely furnished, and the kitchen was fully stocked with pans, tools and spices to make our Thanksgiving dinner. The living room had enough seating to comfortably accommodate us plus 1-2 more people. It was all very clean, and looks just like the pictures. My mom and I enjoyed that there's a great coffee shop a short walk away, and my sibs and husband had a great time with the foosball machine. I highly recommend Lee and his cabin to anyone looking for a cozy, relaxing place to enjoy Tahoe with all the amenities of home.
We had a great experience renting this cabin. It was a the right size for our family of 5 plus our little dog. It would have been fine to have a couple more people too. I like the layout with the master bedroom downstairs for some privacy from the kids. When we arrived I was happy to see it sparkling clean and well outfitted with everything necessary for a comfortable visit. Lee, the owner was easy to communicate with and responded very quickly to our questions. The location is good in Tahoe City. The kitchen has a good selection of pots, pans, utensils and dishes and lots of spices so you don't need to bring any. The photos of the property are accurate. Everything is clean, up to date and well maintained. We found that there were plenty of paper products: napkins, paper towels, toilet paper and even some coffee filters. There are kitchen towels and pot holders. I have no hesitation on making a recommendation for this property.
This was our first time renting a vacation home from someone we did not know and we were slightly hesitant, but Lee was absolutely amazing. He was prompt to respond to all questions and he made the entire process a simple and enjoyable one. When we entered the Getaway Chalet we immediately felt like it was a home full of love. That might sound silly, but it really did have a great vibe.
Everything was clean, which was very important to us. My daughter and I have pet allergies, and I was slightly concerned about this being a pet friendly home, but neither of us had even the slightest hint of allergies during our stay. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of extra blankets. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need for cooking and everything was in perfect working condition. The garage had snow toys for our use, which was really nice. Although there wasn't much snow, our kids still managed to use the saucers to go down a small little hill of snow right in the front yard and they had a blast. The decks on the property were very nice and we really enjoyed sitting on the swing in the backyard and just enjoying the beautiful scenery.
This home was in an excellent location. It is very close to sledding hills, Tahoe City and the lake. My husband and I discussed making this an annual vacation spot because we just had the best time. Absolutely looking forward to our next trip to the Getaway Chalet!
