A wonderful place to stay
This is a beautiful property, which I cannot recommend highly enough. We were 7 in our party, so were very comfortable spread over the 4 bedrooms. I think it would be crowded with 14 though. The house was clean and tidy and all the furnishings and equipment are of the highest quality. Patrick, the landlord, was very friendly and helpful. Although on one occassion we were warned at the metro that the area was not safe to walk around at night, we felt perfectly safe walking to and from the metro, though we did not do this late at night. It is a short metro ride to the centre of Washington. Highly recommend hiring bikes from Thomson boat and cycle hire as a way of seeing the main sights. Do not bother with the Double Decker bus tours - they do not run frequently or regularly, nor do they keep to their scheduled route and stops. A complete waste of money and a precious days sight-seeing.
This is a very safe neighborhood from the Metro stops. The area is established as a historic district. I live in the area and I find it to be as safe as any location in DC. This is the only neighborhood that I would live in DC. I love it, it is quiet and friendly.
Charming! Quiet! Perfect for our visit to DC for our son's wedding
We loved the townhouse! The townhouse was charming and roomy. The neighborhood quiet and friendly. We had 8 adults and 3 children in our party. We had plenty of room for all to sleep in the upstairs bedrooms and the basement (which had a queen bed, a futon and a sleeper sofa). The master bedroom was big and roomy with a bathroom. The other bedrooms were very comfortable. The 3 full baths made getting ready for the wedding easy! We loved that we didn't have to use the living room for sleeping and could use it to sit and relax. The dining room table was big enough to accommodate all of us, plus guests. The kitchen was well equipped with cook ware and utensils, dishes, etc. The backyard deck was fabulous! We had coffee out there in the morning and ate a few meals out there. And when it rained, we could sit on the front porch with our coffee! Also having a washer and dry was handy. The big bonus was the garage! It was great to have a place to park. We could fit 2 cars. The Metro was only a 10 minute walk through the charming neighborhood. We were 3 stops from the Smithsonian and the Mall. We were very close to the sights and easily able to get to Reagan National airport (by Metro or car). We had family from Alaska, Washington, Michigan, and Florida staying here and all loved it! We were all comfortable! In fact our dinner guest were really impressed with the area and the townhouse. (3 were "locals", live just outside DC). The only problem was that we couldn't get the WIFI to work. There were 2 different information sheets and we were using an outdated one, we didn't notice the one on the fridge was different. It was a little confusing. We would definitely use this townhouse again!
We had a great time visiting DC and staying at this house.
Very comfortable , nice.and close to everyplace we were interested in......great!
Beautiful older home, very comfortable. There were 5 of us, grandparents, parents, and 16 year old interested in politics. We met sweet neighbors and loved every minute. Thanks.......
Great place for a week with the family
Lovely property, walkable neighborhood, conveniently located to all that DC has to offer. Room to spread out with our group of 10.
Nice Home in Historic District
We were only 4 adults, but loved all the room in this house. We each had our own bed and own bathroom. We were pleasantly surprised to see all of the antiques here and there, especially the chandeliers. The basement is one bedroom with its own bathroom, TV and 2 beds. The other 3 bedrooms are upstairs and all have their own TV. All in all we were totally pleased with the house and the location.
