The sheltered side yard has a campfire pit and a portable barbecue. Bedrooms feature good quality mattresses, down and non-allergenic duvets, all-cotton linens, opening windows. The cottage has hardwood floors, a gas fireplace, digital cable w/DVR, Wi-Fi, XBox, DVD/VCR/stereo system, and a fully equipped kitchen w/ Bosch gas range and dishwasher / Multi-Pure water system. Bathroom has clawfoot tub/shower. Proximity to ACV airport.

Guest email during Bluff stay:: The house is wonderful. I wonder if I might extend my stay for two more nights if it is available. I would love to meet you as well. This house is truly a haven for me and I am so appreciative for the time here. -- Wendy M., New York

Why Beverly Hanly chose California

I fell in love when I walked through the gate -- plain and simple, it felt like home. There's an intimate view of the rocks below and the house is perfectly aligned with them. But yet you see the whole sweep of the ocean. The curve of the bay to the north and Trinidad Head is close but when you look to the south, you see the long stretch of Clam Beach and all the way to Cape Mendocino on a clear day. It's a nice place to plant flowers, but the natural landscaping and the ocean provide enough beauty so I can keep yard work to a minimum.

What makes this cottage unique

There's simply no better view on the coast. The combination of being at the end of the lane (so nobody walking by), the protected side yard, and the wide open access to the Pacific is just the perfect combination. I can sit inside the house with a book and feel like I'm at the beach but nobody will bother me. It's a simple cottage in a stunning location, which is just right for me.

Bluff House

Amazing location. The view is worth a million dollars plus. The home had everything that was needed and then some. It was so nice we never went out to eat, My daughter and son in law did all of the cooking with my son in law using the BBQ. Very private Also we saw great sunsets.

The perfect honeymoon cottage on the coast

  • 5 of 5

I absolutely love this spot! The open kitchen/living room with all windows to that view was amazing. It's over one of my favorite beaches ( moonstone) that has the best tide pools. The rooms are quaint and super cozy, and I love the claw foot bathtub too. :) The whole house has a warm feel to it, so it makes it already one of my favorite home away from home spots. Beverly was very friendly and accommodating with our visit, and made sure we had everything we needed. I am already thinking about planning my next trip here!! Ha ha. ;) <3

Thanks again, Beverly!

Very clean, everything that I needed was there and easy to access. Beverly is very good at communicating and making sure everything is in line and all the details are understood of how to get into the property. Very accommodating one of the best experiences I have had using the service.

Gorgeous, comfortable house; incredible views; great kitchen

  • 5 of 5

We loved Bluff House and hope to return. Even on a rainy winter weekend, it was a perfect place to enjoy games by the gas fireplace and cooking up delicious meals with all the wonderful local produce, seafood, and cheese. Comfy bed and furniture, easy livable space. A fantastic location for exploring the beaches and redwood forests of the Humboldt Coast!

amazing view!

  • 5 of 5

The view is not to be believed. We made sure to be home everyday for sunset! It was magical to watch the sun set and the boats out. The kitchen has nice steel pans for cooking. We got fresh steamed crab from Katy's Smokehouse and took the dogs to play on the beach at Moonstone Beach every morning. Hard place to leave. We ended up staying an extra night!

Owner's Response: I love it when people take advantage of sunset magic at Bluff -- and mornings at Moonstone! I'm glad we had a good crab season this year and that you found Katy's. Come back soon -- you've found the haunts that locals frequent.

The best thing about the Trinidad area is the many uncrowded beaches and hikes through the redwoods and Fern Canyon. Add friendly locals, fishing out of Trinidad harbor, and easy-access kayak rental at two local lagoons. Find local fresh seafood, plenty of organic groceries, and several farmers markets. A lively arts and music scene surrounds the university in nearby Arcata with central town plaza. World-renowned marsh and wetlands, Humboldt Bay and Eureka old-town and historic Ferndale are also nearby. Good restaurants make for a special night out. Seasonal festivals, such as the Mad River Festival in nearby Blue Lake feature theater talent from around the world; Oyster Festival in Arcata celebrates local aquaculture and food; Wild Blackberry Festival in Westhaven and Trinidad Fish Festival are small, local community events.
