About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

This upscale cottage is located on the scenic northeast end of Lake Chatuge six miles north of Hiawassee, Georgia and six miles east of Hayesville, North Carolina. The home is in a wooded and easily accessible, quiet neighborhood of permanent and summer residences on a moderately sloping lakefront lot. Though not secluded, it still has privacy from adjacent neighbors. A maintenance man cares for the grounds on a regular basis.

The cottage has three bedrooms and two baths with 1800 square feet on two levels. The home has ceramic tile throughout and is decorated with accent lighting, quality furniture, appliances, bedding, and amenities. A large deck offers a beautiful panoramic view of the lake and mountains.

A large private two level aluminum dock provides ample seating and sunbathing at the water's edge, and houses a variety of watercraft available at a reasonable extra charge.

The watercraft include: 14' rowboat, 11' pontoon paddle boat, 2 kayaks, and a 23' inboard-outboard deck boat. Please contact owner for rates.

Lake Chatuge is a beautiful, clear water lake surrounded by mountains of both Georgia and North Carolina. The sprawling fingers of the lake with many islands and coves covers 9000 acres and has 200 miles of shoreline. A great majority of the lake borders national forest or is owned by Tennessee Valley Authority and is undeveloped. Lake Chatuge is known to have good bass fishing and is regularly stocked. Large Canadian geese can often be seen in the spectacular rural and mountain scenery.

Perfect vacation home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I absolutely loved this beautiful home on Lake Chatuge. The house was quite large and nicely furnished with numerous amenities, including several boats, a pool table, ping pong, and more movies than you can possibly imagine. And the view was gorgeous too! We highly recommend it.

Holiday Get Away

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I liked the house and the surrounding area. Great place to visit for hiking and sightseeing. Enjoyed the waterfront views even though we were out of season for any water-related activities. We spent most days hiking and sightseeing and only used the house for relaxing at night. The kitchen furnishings were a little disappointing as we struggled to find clean cookware and dishes. Not sure about the 'ventless' gas fireplace either. It filled the house with gas smell everytime we tried to use it. Eventually just stuck with the basement fireplace on high to heat the house. We enjoyed the living room set up with plenty of DVDs and a good size TV with cable. The living room couches and the bed in the master bedroom were comfortable.

In summary, if you're looking for luxury accommodations, its probably not your first choice. However, if you need a large comfortable place to flop and relax after a full day of local activity, this place is perfect. The surrounding area boosts of endless hikes, waterfalls, 2 local small towns, a wonderful winery and a lot of water.

Owner's Response: A gas smell from the fireplace is a serious problem, if informed, we would have had corrected immediately. We have the gas fireplaces inspected each fall prior to their use. There is a CO detector alarm that has always registered "0". There may be a slight odor noticed when the ceramic gas logs are heated that may possibly bother a person. This odor is much less than that produced by a wood fireplace. For those select individuals there is electric baseboard heat to be used instead. Regarding the cookware, there is a 3 year old quality KitchenAid dishwasher for use. Guests are expected to wash their own dishes before they leave. The housekeeper does not check each utensil between guests. This home to us is not just a piece of rental property; it is our personal vacation home. Though it may not be "luxurious" we take great pride in providing our guests with the best selection of well maintained amenities in the area.

3rd vacation here on the Lake.

  • 5 of 5

Once again we had a fabulous time. Perfect weather and the perfect home with everything you would need. Our 5 day stay just goes by too fast. This was our third visit and we'll return again next September .Such a lovely place that I grill each night and only eat out the last nights stay. Hope you never sell this place unless it's to us.

PERFECT!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I enjoyed our anniversary weekend and everything was perfect! The home was clean and well furnished. The boat ran great and was safe & clean. The owners were easy to deal with and left clear cut instruction for all the operations for the house. I will be back and recommend if you want a relaxing get away this is the vacation for you.

Needed to relax

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, along with our precious dog enjoyed a nice, long weekend. Our daughter and her husband were there for part of the weekend as well. The home is very comfortable, easy to access, and the views spectacular. The lake is very healthy and the fish were biting, making my husband a very happy man. The layout was great, as everyone had their own space. It had everything we needed. We definitely want to return.
