Space 3,500 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

4 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, 2 Kitchens, Sleeps 8, Private Heated Pool

Richview is a new, luxurious, 4-bedroom, 4-bath home fifty yards from world-famous French Leave Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Bahamas. Richview has spectacular views of the beach and ocean. It is located on the historic Banks Road, the premier location on Eleuthera, a mile from the town of Governors Harbour. Tippy's beach restaurant is less than a mile away.

A NEW PRIVATE POOL HAS JUST BEEN COMPLETED. Pool can be heated if desired for a fee of $250/week.

Richview is a stunning mix of old-world charm and modern comforts. Amenities include two full-service kitchens (ideal for groups with multiple families), air conditioning, washer/dryer, WIFI, satellite television, three flat-screen TVs, DVD player with video library, VOIP phone with free unlimited local and international calls, CD sound system, child and adult games, a telescope, paddle boards, a full-capacity generator, and a caretaker on duty.

Richview includes a two-story, three-bedroom main house with an attached honeymoon suite, for that couple in your group who desire extra privacy. Each section contains its own well-stocked, full-service kitchen. The two sections of the house are ALWAYS rented together, to only one group at a time, so your privacy is assured. (The Honeymoon Suite is included for an additional charge. For smaller groups who don't need a fourth bedroom, the Honeymoon Suite is simply locked off unless requested.)

Richview offers great outdoor living space with a huge wrap-around deck with loungers, a charcoal grill, outdoor dining area, two outdoor showers, a pergola for shade, and an observation deck with spectacular 360-degree views.

You enter Richview into the large Front Hall. This spacious room has a couch, access to the washer/dryer, and sliders to the rear deck. To your right is the computer room (with wifi and VOIP phone) and access to the two first-floor bedrooms. One has a king bed and the other two twins that can be converted to a king.

Returning to the Front Hall, you take the steps to the second floor. Here we have a full kitchen, large dining area, living room (all with BEAUTIFUL beach and ocean views) and a separate queen size bedroom and full bathroom. Off this area, you can enter the sundeck and observation deck. The views from the deck are truly spectacular. The ocean is 50 yards away and you can see 360 degrees of Eleuthera.

Returning to the first floor Front Hall, on your left is the entrance to the one-story Honeymoon Suite with a king-size bed, living room, its own full kitchen, and a large shower/bathroom. All four bedrooms at Richview have private en-suite bathrooms.

Just walk across the street and down our private path, and you’re on the beautiful pink sand of French Leave Beach (also known as Club Med Beach, for the Club Med that was located there many years ago). Richview comes with everything you need to enjoy our beautiful beach, including beach chairs and umbrellas, and two outdoor showers.

Tippy’s famous restaurant is just a mile away, offering fine dining and live entertainment. Other upscale restaurants within easy driving distance include The Bistro at Sky Beach Club, 4 miles away and 1648 House, a mile away. The town of Governors Harbour, less than a mile away, has a lovely collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock, or visit the recently restored Haynes Library, which dates from 1897, for the weekly coffee hour for foreign residents and tourists. Governors Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, and excellent coffee shop, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, a dive shop, and a medical clinic. Friday Night Fish Fry in Governors Harbour, a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street, is not to be missed.

Wonderful property, location and owner!

  • 5 of 5

Richview House is a beautiful house located steps from the most gorgeous beach you have even seen (French Leave, former home of Club Med). It is large, fully-stocked with everything you need (linens, dishes, beach and pool toys, etc.), has multiple decks with beautiful views, and a tremendous support staff.

From Matt and team at Eleuthera Vacation Rentals who helped us with the rental, to the property manager whose office is only blocks away from the house in Governors Harbour and who told us everything we need to know about the island, to the maintenance team who was available throughout the week on short notice to fix any issues with the house (we had a small problem with a sink in one of the bathrooms, and a small problem with the pool the day we arrived - both of which were quickly addressed), you never feel as though you are "on your own" in a foreign land. Unfortunately, half of our party had to cancel their trip at the last minute due to a death in the family. Matt and the owner were very understanding, compassionate and helpful - something we very much appreciated at a difficult time.

The house itself sits on Banks Road, an infrequently used road that parallels French Leave Beach and is home to some of the nicest houses on Eleuthera. However, because it is on the opposite side of the road from the beach, it rents for less than the houses that are on the beach side, yet the walk is literally only 10 steps further (the beach is accessed by a very short, deeded, sandy path through palm trees)). French Leave, despite being one of the top-rated beaches in the Bahamas, almost feels deserted. One day one of the local houses had a volleyball game on the beach. Other than that, the most people we ever saw there were two retired ex-pats who pretty much kept to themselves. You literally have the entire mile-long beach to yourself on most days!

I would be remiss if I didn't provide several recommendations to consider if you stay at Richview - 1) do the mile-long walk down the beach to Tippy's late one afternoon (you'll understand why when you do), 2) take a glass of wine and a beach chair to the top deck at night, lay it down flat and look up at the stars, and 3) introduce yourself to the local fishermen who drive up on Richview's beach each afternoon. If you're lucky, they'll have some fresh lobsters you can buy and cook for dinner. Enjoy!

Overall impression of this property was good. There were airconditioner issues in the honeymoon suite which were immediately rectified by the property manager who was accessible quickly and was helpful with answering questions. The wifi was not always accessible. We were pleased to learn that this property has a generator which automatically comes on during power outages which happened occasionally during thunderstorms.

Everything you need and more. Fantastic family vacation in the best balance of paradise!

  • 5 of 5

We visited Eleuthera for the first time (4 adults, two kids ages 10 & 8) and stayed at Richview during the "low" season, late June-early July. It was nothing short of fantastic. I'll start by saying this home and French Leave beach exceeded our expectations in many ways (after spending countless hours reading reviews on other homes and in other towns/islands about difficulties with getting food, shopping, getting around, etc etc). Richview and French Leave were the perfect spot for what we wanted out of our family vacation: stunning beaches/serene beauty, proximity to local food/drink/atmosphere, stuff for kids to do, modern amenities in a clean home (working WIFI,TV with movie/kids options- sad but true- for kids' downtime). If you want to have a cultural experience enjoying island life with the most stunning views anywhere in the Caribbean this it. Locals are great, a woman in Palmetto Point baked a cake for my daughter's 10th birthday. We rented paddle boards from Skip who lives 2-doors down. We got fresh pastries each day from Banks Rd Deli (go early!). Da Perk has great brekkie sandwiches. House was perfect- great privacy. We could close off our end of the house since one King and 2 twin BR's (both ensuite), connected by the office hallway, could be closed off entirely. All rooms have their own A/C controls- great as some of us enjoyed more chilly rooms than others. We did end up renting the 'honeymoon suite' (King w/ sep kitchen at opposite end) so my sis/brother in law could have their own space. It was the most beautiful room in the house IMHO. The house has 3 levels of decks surrounding, including one up on kitchen level which we used to have afternoon lunch/happy hour drinks and ocean breeze. We actually moved the outdoor table up to this deck- more usable since the 2nd level/view deck was across from the kitchen. This was the perfect spot to enjoy afternoon snack/drinks and catch the breeze/ocean views. The orientation of Richview being across the street from the beach was no issue, rarely did we encounter cars more than a few times a day. One of the highlights was the fresh grouper we got from local fisherman right on our beach-promptly grilled for lunch (most buttery velvet grouper I've ever tasted). Only complaint was the prevalence of the mosquitos and no-seeums. Food/drink: be sure to visit Sky Beach Club for a swim and dinner, The Beach House 2 doors down, 1648 at French Leave in GH & of course Tippys and conch salad from the Conch Ninja.

Beautiful Home by a Stunning Beach

  • 5 of 5

Richview was the ideal house in the ideal location for our party of 6 adults. The house itself was in immaculate condition, stocked with everything you could need to make your stay comfortable and feel just like home. We cooked quite a few meals in the kitchen, and it had all the utensils and dishware we needed. The fresh flowers in all the rooms were a very nice touch to the beautiful, modern decor.

The beach was literally right across the street, and was easier to get to than some of the "beachfront" homes that have stairs to get to the beach. There were no stairs here...just a short path leading to a gorgeous pink sand beach with clear blue water. My husband and I did a bit more exploring the last time we were on Eleuthera, but this time we spent a lot more time on the beach next to Richview. Part of this was because certain members in our group weren't able to do a lot of hiking or physical activities, but it was also due to the fantastic location of the home. The Beach House restaurant was just three houses away, and we enjoyed the time we spent there eating delicious food and chatting with the staff and other vacationers. Leon Levy Nature Preserve was also very close by, and we spent an afternoon hiking there. French Leave beach was one of our favorite beaches on the island, so it was easy to spend the afternoons there and wander back home or to the Beach House when in need of refreshment.

The property manager, Matt Simon, his assistant Tara Davis, and the caretaker Anne Bethel, were all very helpful and easy to get in touch with whenever we needed (which was not often, but it was good to know they were there if needed). I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who is staying on Eleuthera and wants a central location near Governor's Harbour.

The Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I were joined by nine of our closest friends for a celebration of life as I spent 2014 with some serious medical issues. We actually had two separate houses but all of our time was spent at Richview! If you don't enjoy your stay here you should quit traveling. Great location close to the beach with breathtaking views day or night, near The Beach House restaurant and close to town. The house is both cozy and spacious, wonderfully appointed and comfortable. We're already planning our next trip here!

Matt and Tara at Eleuthera Vacation Rentals really went the extra mile as this gathering kept growing in size and scope! They couldn't have been more helpful!

Looking forward to our return!

Amazing house!!!

  • 5 of 5

The house is incredible! Amazing, clean, we'll furnished with all equipment you may need! The rooms are very big, there are two kitchen but we used only one! we enjoyed The laundry room. We also used the beach equipment like beach chairs, fins and other things we did not get the chance to use it! The house is not right at the beach but you just need to cross the street... Very very closed by! The first day we arrived it was late afternoon, we went right in the water and while we were chatting a shark swam by! We could not believe our eyes! What an excitement encounter!!!! We never saw it again.... What a pity!

We rented a car and we explored the island and its beautiful beaches! Very closed by there are two restaurant. The ocean beach and Tippi's! We tried both and very good! My favorite though is Tippi's.... Loved it very much!

We were not very lucky because the first night there has been a storm and we were left with no phone and wifi for the whole week. But we survived anyway!!!

We do recommend this house. We had a great time and if we ever get back to Eleuthera, we would definitely rent it again. Thanks

The all new Beach House Restaurant is open just a short stroll from Richview and the well known Tippy's Restaurant is just one mile south. See why celebrities like Janet Jackson have chosen Richview for their island stay.
