About The Owner

Hello - We are Mike and Sheri Freer. We grew up in Flagstaff , Arizona and enjoyed 34 years there. Mike grew up spending his childhood summers in Featherville with his siblings and cousins every year. We decided to make the change and moved our four children to Featherville in 2006. Mike built our home and we lived there for 4 years while our children were still young. Those are precious years to our family. When our oldest needed to go to high school we moved to Mountain Home. We currently reside here in Mountain Home and escape to Featherville as often as possible. It is peaceful and quiet and more fun than anywhere else in the world. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

The Owner purchased this house in 2006

Why The Owner chose Idaho

This is a great property to spend your winter or summer vacation. It is away from the crowds and allows you time to reconnect with your family and friends. We found that 2-3 families really can enjoy it together. It will accomodate everyones wants in a vacation. Those who want to read quietly by the river or the fire can enjoy that while the others play outside with many different outdoor activities. The house is also set up in a way that those who want to watch a movie and/or play games(i.e. kids) can be closed off by a door while the others(adults) can enjoy a quiet conversation downstairs by the fire or on the patio.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much for sharing your gorgeous home with us. The view is just stunning. The quiet except for the rush of the river and the call of the birds was just what we needed. The house was extremely comfortable, with the toys, the swing set and the lawn...the kids couldn't have been happier. Sheri.. we loved your home cooked food, so overall it was just the R & R we needed! Thank you for being such wonderful hosts!

Amazing place you don't want to leave

  • 5 of 5

Secluded and quiet. The river provides all the sounds you need. The views from the house are amazing and the comforts are great! We saw elk in the yard and wading the river. The home itself is spacious and inviting. We had more than enough space for our large party of people. 2 fridges to hold all the food. Beds were comfy. Two things of note: the dishwasher didn't work but it looked like a new one was in the garage ready for install soon. Hand washing dishes for our large party was annoying and time consuming. There was no direct tv or dish network to catch the games or shows on. I brought chromecast and streamed from the wifi - but the DSL is slow - we later found roku device but some instructions in the welcome book would be cool. Overall we loved the place and are looking forward to coming back!

Winter retreat

  • 5 of 5

We (10 adults and 4 children) comfortably stayed at the cabin for President's day weekend February 2016. The kitchen was amazing for all the cooking we did and the views of the river and woods was a bonus. We were able to snowmobile right from the cabin. The owners were very helpful when we needed anything. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed. It made a great vacation for everyone.

Way better than expected

  • 5 of 5

We travel to idaho every year by Rv and this year decided to upgrade to some slightly more comfortable accommodation. We expected it to be nice but it was way above our expectations. So comfortable and cosy and the scenery right outside the back patio was spectacular. Everyone on our group (all adults) were equally impressed. Thank you Sheri and Mike for allowing us the pleasure of experiencing your home and beautiful surroundings for our stay.

All the CA mc crew.

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Well we've been home for a week now. Time to write about our Idaho vacation. One word,WOW! We camped in the area 30+ years ago when stationed at MHAFB. Times have changed but the area around Featherville is still beautiful even though there are a lot more people and houses in the area than there were 30 years ago. This was our first family vacation since 2009 when our family size was smaller. 26 of us traveled from the Chicago area to Featherville for a week's stay at the Freer's fabulous house. We had a 2nd house for the overload but "the big house" (Kathleen's contribution) was family central for meals, campfire, kite flying, fun, tenting, s'mores, BBQ’ing, crafts, basketball, picture taking(at least 1000), wildlife viewing, tubing, fishing, family time, naps, relaxing, laughing, hammock time, playing in the river, storytelling, looking for Sasquatch,an evening with old friends, and memories that will last for a few generations to come. We even had an actual sighting of Sasquatch (Uncle Mike in custom). What else did family members do? Trips to Sun Valley, Trinity Lakes to fish and sight see, Baumgardener to play in the hot tub, the old mining town of Rocky Bar, Twin Pines pool, Anderson Ranch Reservoir to fish, swim and fly kites, and climb the big hill across the river. We made "the big house" our home for a week. What a home! The beds are comfortable. The great room is a great place to relax, read, nap, just talk, and plan the next adventure. The dining room easily accommodated 10 grandchildren for breakfast, snacks, or dinner and a few adults for evening tea, coffee, a glass of wine, and conversation. Late into the evening adults and kids enjoyed the campfire by the river while kids ran the yard, played soccer and made up games, and shot baskets. Sarah Ann and Ann-Marie were still flying kites after 10 o’clock. The 10 under 10 group chased teen aged Cousin Ryan around the yard while the adults enjoyed adult beverages around the campfire. We were able to prepare, serve, and enjoy a dinner for 31 when old friends came to visit. Are the Freers good hosts? The best. We were looking for a blender to help prepare an evening meal but couldn't find one in the cabinets or pantry. Sheri's brother Mike came and personally searched the pantry to no avail. Sheri insisted it was there. When Aunt Joan walked in 30 minutes later she took us right to it in the pantry. Sheri's dad brought an extra grill to help us prepare the dinner for 31. If you need something, call.
