Wicklow is an Andrews, North Carolina getaway that combines the amenities of a bed and breakfast with the privacy of cabin lodging. The decoration is somewhat shabby chic and upscale cabin lodging. We often get comments about the high quality of the furnishings, bedding and linens. People feel immediately comfortable! (please see the feedback and comments from people) You will find a mini library and plenty of games to entertain yourself or the kids! We recently added a new horse shoe pit, enlarged the stocked fishing pond, added a 10ft high waterfall that empties into a wading pool with sandy beach. We have miniature goats with brand new baby goats in the pasture along side the miniature donkeys.
The cottage has a spacious feel with 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths, and 2 family rooms featuring large flat panel cable TV with DVD. Sunshine fills the upstairs living area by day, and the large stone fire pit and Adirondack chairs afford cozy nights by the fire. The fully equipped kitchen features oven, stove, refrigerator, large microwave, dishwasher, toaster, coffeemaker and additional small appliances. The antique farmhouse dining table with handmade bench and Windsor style chairs can seat up to eight. You have everything you need to prepare a homemade family feast.
We also recently completed another adjacent vacation unit , the 'studio' that sleeps up to 4 people. It has a queen size bed and queen size sleeper sofa. Contact us for studio pricing & pics

I am software sales business person, a licensed Realtor and long time boy scouter / volunteer. I have 5 children, aged 23 to 3. My wife and I love the mountains and the out of doors. I have been experiencing this area for my entire life and created many memories for our children to have and cherish. We currently have 3 donkeys (new baby donkey) , 2 shelties (Mason and Emma) and 2 new miniature goats.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 2013
I purchased this property because it reminded me of Wicklow Ireland. The beautiful mountain backdrop, green gently rolling pasture and water. Water everywhere, streams, springs, branches and ponds. It fit my vision of a private retreat. It is located at the end of the road. At night its dark, very dark. The sky is bright with stars. Many at night we observe shooting stars. Our backyard is 10,000 acres of National forest service land. This is our bit of heaven and we thoroughly enjoy sharing and hosting this experience with others!
Wicklow Woods is perfectly located for all kinds of activities. On the property we have a wonderfully large fire pit to sit around and enjoy. There are several ponds stocked with fish. We have horse shoe pits and plenty of room to play and run around in the well groomed pasture area. Kids love playing in the mountain stream that flows across Wicklow. Many people take leisurely walks and everyone takes time and visits with the miniature donkeys. Near by there are numerous beautiful walking trails, including the Joyce Kelmer National Forest , which is the last standing virgin forest . There are many rivers and waterfalls within the county that have nice scenic walks. Additionally there are on road or off road Bicycle riding paths. The 'dragons tail' is nationally known for its driving (cars or motorcycles). Our area is known for its world class trout fishing.
The property was very conveniently located for our stay. Lots of outside space for the kids to run and play. The house was plenty big enough for all 4 couples and 3 kids. The owners were more then helpful when we needed light bulbs during our stay (a couple of lamps was blown). Our Kids had a great time playing with the owners daughter in the evenings. Defiantly a repeat trip.
The house was clean, and large enough for 11 people. We really enjoyed our stay here. There were two den areas, which was great when taking a break. The kitchen was stocked with several items left by the owners, as well as things left by previous guests. When we left, everyone in our party lamented that we could not stay longer.
This was the perfect place for our family getaway. The children loved the animals...my grandson caught a fish (he is only 7) and the house was clean and spacious. We loved the fire pit and the first night roasted hotdogs and marshmellows. It was comfortable for the adults and the children had space to run and play without having to worry about traffic, etc. They enjoyed the dogs, donkeys, and goats. I would recommend Wicklow Woods!
We met for a family gathering over Labor Day. Having read all the reviews, I could tell this was going to be a special place for our family, we wanted a quiet place to just be together, play games, laugh and eat. We needed a place that would also accomodate my grown children/ wives, pre-school grandchildren, and also be pet friendly. Wicklow fulfilled all of these. Owner has specifics regarding check in, check out, children and pets none of the guidelines are unreasonable, but really common curtesy. It is a shame that people really have to have these spelled out. It was marvelous to have two living rooms because the family with pre-schoolers really could have special time. We never felt crowded or on top of each other with 3 family units all together in the house. Make sure you take bug spray, the knats were wicked but property is surrounded by little ponds. It was a magical weekend, hope we can come again in the future. Come prepared to cook, kitchen is well appointed because the area is quite rural. Food shopping is close by and very good. Loved making s'mores at the fire pit...so many memories.
Some of our family had to travel three days early to Andrews for my son's wedding. We chose to stay at Wicklow before we moved over to Hawkesdene. We loved the wicklow property! There were cherry blossoms all over the gravel drive making for great pre-wedding pictures. the view from the fire pit was so beautiful and relaxing. We enjoyed the goats, especially the baby and the donkeys. But the thing we liked most of all was Emma, the owner's sweet dog who spent every waking minute with the little boys in our group. We still miss and talk about Emma a month later. The house was clean and comfy and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Highly recommend if you want to escape to a secluded mountain paradise. We didn't want to leave!
I would recommend this property to anyone. Robin treated us like we were family. The cottage is perfect...spotless, spacious. We felt so at home...I would go back in a heartbeat. We were there for a wedding, but, it would be perfect for any kind of getaway.
