Hello, my name is Ken. I have vacationed in Pittsburg for years and love the town, it's people, and all Pittsburg has to offer. Building the Owl's Nest was a dream come true. It's a real joy of mine to share this beautiful cabin with folks that have the same mindset towards Pittsburg. I enjoy swapping stories and sharing experiences with the guests. I'll do whatever I can to assure you have the best in accomodations while in Pittsburg. There is a sign over my front door at the cabin, it reads: 'Arrive as a guest, leave as a friend' That's is my hope for the guests of the Owl's Nest!. Come visit!
Ken Hodgson purchased this cabin in 2008
The Owl's Nest was designed with you in mind. As a Pittsburg renter for years, staying in several places, I recalled what I liked and didn't like and leveraged that rental experience to create a cabin that offers the best in accomodations.
We visit pittsburg every year, the owls nest was a great choice it was a beautiful home, nice and private and had everything you could think of. Very easy to get to the trails to ride. We had a blast and will definitely be booking again!
Nicely appointed cabin with a spacious open floor plan. Easy access the main Pittsburg Ridge Runner trails. Full kitchen, amble dining area and reclining leather couch ensured our community gathering at the end of the long day was comfortable. Could use some updated mattresses in the loft area especially the twin beds. Fine for kids but not for adults.
This was my 4th year at Owl's Nest. I have stayed at many other places in Pittsburg before, and after finding the Owl's Nest I never stay any place else. The cabin is terrific, always well maintained and clean. The garage is a wonderful bonus.
There is a sign over the door that says "Let those that enter as guests leave as friends". This is absolutely Ken's attitude. I had the opportunity meeting and snowmobiling with Ken this year and am looking forward to doing it again next year. The trails can't be beat!
We really enjoyed the cabin and will definitely come back. Being able to pull our sleds into garage was really nice.
Owl's Nest is a beautiful cabin, very cozy, and Ken is a great guy - however if you are going snowmobiling and pulling a trailer be prepared with chains, etc. because the driveway is a challenge. We pull a four sled trailer with a heavy duty F150 4-wheel drive, and slid down the road to get to the cabin, and then could not get up the driveway and ended up stuck in the snowbank below. The driveway was not treated with sand nor salt, and we arrivedat 5:00 pm so it was dark- two tow trucks later with all sleds off the trailer, we finally got pulled up. Unfortunately, you can't park at the bottom of the driveway or anywhere else for that matter because it is a very narrow, snowy road. To leave the cabin we had to sand the driveway ourselves, inch down the driveway with no sleds on the trailer, and drive almost a mile up the snowy road (punching the truck at one point and still almost stuck) and then walk back to the cabin and ride the sleds up to the trailer so we could get out.
LIke a said, its a beautiful, cozy cabin but just a warning if you are pulling trailers in the snowy months - gets a bit dicey!. We have stayed many places in Pittsburg with our trailer and sleds and if we would have known about the driveway we would have waited until the summer to stay at Owl's Nest. Thankfully the cabin had a tow truck business card right on the counter, so $ 80 later we were up the driveway.
I want to thank Ken for a great week. Although we did not see much we had a great time and we had the chance to have Ken and his hunting buddies over for dinner and they are all stand up guys. We had a ton of laughs and cant wait until next year to do it all over again.
Ken, your cabin was perfect, it was clean and stocked with everything you would need. Thank you so much.
