Located in Chelsea's sought after Gallery District, in an owner-occupied townhouse, this mint studio has everything.
Overlooking park-like backyards it is very quiet while being centrally located in the middle of Manhattan.
The Empire State building, Madison Square Garden, Times Square and Javits Center are within walking distance, so are the Chelsea piers, Manhattan's biggest sports complex and the Meat Packing District, New York's ultra-hot nightlife/fashion/restaurant neighborhood. New York City's newest attraction the elevated Highline Park is only steps away.
The apartment is equipped with high definition satellite TV, sound system with i-pod dock and free wi-fi access. The kitchen, like everything else, is brand new is brand new with stainless steel appliances. It is perfect for a couple or single traveler. The central location combined with the privacy and quiet make this apartment very special.
I have never been one to write a review for vacation accommodation, but after spending just under a week at Michael & Catherine’s lovely Chelsea studio I felt strongly compelled to share my thoughts of my experience. It was the first time to New York for my girlfriend and I as a couple (we had both been several times on our own) so had already done the so called touristy things, this time we wanted to experience living like real New Yorkers. The amazing location of the studio certainly did help with this; we were in walking distance to everything we wanted to. Close to great restaurants and café’s.
The room itself was very tastefully decorated and was extremely clean on arrival. The view from the studio was quite special, it was just of a little garden but I thought that was quite special and unique for downtown Manhattan. The bed was very comfortable and was just perfect after the long hours we spent on our feet discovering Manhattan again.
Both my fiancé and I (I proposed at the end of our trip) would come back in a heartbeat and have not stopped praising the place to friends and family.
The apartment was wonderful! Michael was a very gracious host. He met us upon our arrival with the keys and showed us around. The apartment was cozy, clean and had a well equipped kitchen (there were even home made Christmas cookies in the fridge)! It faced the street but was quiet. Michael provided a list of restaurants in the area. We tried Trestle around the corner on 10th for breakfast. We liked it so much we returned our last day there! Would also recommend Chop Shop for dining in or take out. Great neighborhood, lots to do within walking distance. We've been to NYC many times and have always stayed in hotels. Staying in the apartment was a much more relaxing experience! We will definitely rent this apartment again!
Stayed a week, better than advertised, would recommend to anyone interested in studio size accommodations; definitely beats a hotel. Excellent hosts with a ton of local knowledge and recommendations if you want. Super, super quiet and able to fully relax once back in the room. All amenities present, we needed nothing. Within walking distance of Highline, Chelsea Market, Hudson River Greenway, excellent local restaurants/bars (tried most of them), much more, and the subway of course. We hit all five boroughs and returned each night for a very restful night; bed ridiculously comfortable. Clean, safe, full kitchen and bath, great outside garden, felt like home. If we get back to NYC we will make reservations here and will do it early.
Perfect location in Chelsea. Actually quiet in NYC if you can believe it! Michael was welcoming and responsive. Very cute. Definitely recommend.
At the 11th hour our VRBO reservation was cancelled because of repairs - Yikes! Fortunately Michael quickly responded to our request to stay and we were able to move on with our day. I have used VRBO 4 times in New York and this is the 1st time the accommodations were as advertised. The apartment is perfectly furnished and if you wanted to cook, everything was supplied. The garden view from all windows was beautiful and calming after being out in the city all day. The location was safe and close to great restaurants and the Highline - which is a must experience! Big plus, there was Catherine to greet us and Michael responded to all questions via email/text - again quickly. Definitely would stay here again.
While I booked the garden apartment, this review is for the penthouse unit in the same building. For a variety of reasons, I wound up upgrading to it. Perfect spot. Treesy green outlooks, luxury finishes thoughtfully done. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. One of the best parts was the birdsong in the trees at either end the apartment each morning. Double pane windows provide fantastic sound insulation, although this is generally a block that does not suffer unusual noise. Only drawback for some might be three flights of stairs, but that is an easy hardship if you are reasonably fit.
Chelsea Art District with over 250 galleries within ten blocks.Steps from New York City's brand new elevated Highline Park, Midtown, Chelsea Piers Sports Complex, all of Manhattans major attraction within walking distance.
