Someone wrote a review about Bed bugs but we found this cabin clean as a pin and no bugs. Relaxing on the porch swing looking over Snowbird Mountain was so peaceful and mellow. Nice hot tub. Quiet and serene and rafting, casino and hiking all in one great area of western North Carolina. This place is nice for what our group spent, will book this place again
We came to enjoy a friends 28th birthday, only to wake up and find they had been sleeping in a bed full of tiny bugs. We were unsure if they were bed bugs or something else, and immediately cleaned all of the sheets. The second night we did not see anything so we felt a little better. We didn't really have much of an option to go anywhere else, we were four hours from home and had already spent a lot to stay for 2 nights. Three days after returning two of the girls were covered from head to toe in scabies and spent hundreds of dollars each on treatment creams and pills and doctor bills. We even had to pay a cleaning fee that most rentals don't require. I doubt this place has ever been cleaned, and definitely was not cleaned before we came. I have tried calling and emailing Dottie several times with no answer. The has been no rectification or even an apology or notification they will take care of the issue. I highly suggest looking elsewhere. I bet most of these 5 star comments are from Dottie's friends anyway. I live in the South, SOUTH CAROLINA to be exact, there is no excuse for bugs in your home. Not lady bugs, not bed bugs, NOT ANY TYPE OF BUG. If I could give 0 stars I would.
We had a week end with four families and we each rented cabins. Ours cabin was great the view, hot tub, kitchen was stocked, we stayed outside most of the day. It was close to the put in to the rafting post. The yard was great for yard games.
We came up for the Thanksgiving holidays. The house was clean and well maintained. The kitchen is well stocked and everything that you need is there. We loved the hot tub and spent a lot of time out on the deck "chilling out"!. Our only regret is that we had to leave. We would definitely stay here again. Oh, we did see Lady Bugs, but they weren't as bad as the previous post indicated. If you are in the South, you are gonna see Lady Bugs during this time of the year. We didn't see it as a problem. I wouldn't let that discourage you from staying here.
Me and my girlfriend come to the North Georgia or Western,NC areas twice a year to hike, ride motorcycles, sight see, and just relax in the beautiful environment. We typically stay at a different place every time we come. We had a nice stay and Scouts Lookout. The location is nice in that it is central to both Western / Central N.C. and North Georgia. Andrews is a bit of a sleepier town than Murphy. Which we liked.
Per the previous poster we too had some ladybugs but they were not all that bad and were just on one side of the cabin. Not in the bedrooms or restrooms. We did some reading up on them and they are just confused and trying to hibernate. We swept them or vacuumed them each day and put the ones we could back outside to get on with there life. I have stayed in places with worse ladybugs. Both up this way and back home in Mississippi. No biggie.
We did make a few suggestions to the management company / owner ( as we do with most places we stay. We only hope to help the mgt. company and owner be a little better ) as I would want the same so that people stayed happy.
We would be more than happy to stay at Scouts Lookout again as we were treated nicely by Freedom Realty throughout the rental process.
We stayed at this beautiful getaway cabin and were so happy that we had chosen it. The views are stupendous, beautiful covered porch to sit on, hot tub also on the porch. The cabin had every amenity that could be needed, we didn't have to purchase anything. The cabin was immaculate and Dottie of Freedom Realty Inc. was so nice. She called us when we arrived to make sure everything was to our liking and asked if there anything else we needed. If so, she would get it immediately for us. There was also a beautiful welcome basket waiting for us! This has never happened at any other cabin we stayed at. Our stay was so relaxing and this cabin and we will definitely be back for another visit. Thankfully, the cabin is pet friendly and the deck is gated so we knew our pet was safe.
We thank Dottie for her help and for making this a most enjoyable vacation for us!
