Our New Favorite

  • 5 of 5

Our second trip to Stowe, first time at this cabin, and it was a dream. Beautifully decorated, and had all the right touches with linens, towels, dishes, etc. Perfectly located for those looking for a true retreat but still only minutes away from town or Stowe Mountain, and lots of hiking trails. We brought our Alaskan Malamute and 10 yr old with us. Plenty of space, the lands were beautiful and perfect for our fur-baby. The kiddo enjoyed her little hide-a-way room as well. We saw the deer stop by for dropped apples, and met the friendly neighbor dogs too. The cabin is tucked away in the woods with a few other places and just up the road from a gorgeous red covered bridge and Sterling gorge. We enjoyed sitting by the fire at night snuggling all together. Truly this place made us want a permanent cabin of our own. So until that happens, we hope to stay here every time we come back. Thank you to Jennifer and team for an extremely pleasant and carefree stay.

Like out of a dream

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was like out of a dream; everything you could ask for in a ski chalet. Imagine coming home from a full day on the slopes to a cozy cottage and warming up in front of the warm fire with a book for the rest of the evening. We honestly couldn't have asked for a better place to spend our ski vacation.

The host was incredibly helpful; ensuring we found the cottage easily, and making sure we had everything we needed. Moreover, the cottage is equipped with Wifi which made it easy to stay in touch with family.

The cottage also has absolutely everything you would need to cook dinners and even has a dishwasher to make the clean-up quick and easy.

We would certainly come again and would recommend this to anyone who is looking for the perfect escape to get some R&R.

Pictures don't do it justice!!!

We stayed at this beautiful little cottage over Feb. break. 2 Adults, 3 Kids, and 1 dog. The cottage was beautiful and no detail was left undone. There was even fresh flowers welcoming us and dog dishes for our pup. It has a very upscale country/cottage feel to it. The owner was a pleasure to deal with and responsive to any questions we had. This place seems like someone's home vs. a property purchased to generate revenue.

The grounds surrounding the cottage were beautiful! It really is a beautiful place!

Everything was as described in the listing. We were plenty warm and the beds were very comfortable. Those of you with back problems won't be disappointed with the beds.

There was a TV with a DVD player and plenty of movies to watch. Many of them were brand new and did not even have the seal broken on them. Please note that there is no cable or regular TV. Also, there are many brand new board games to play. This was great and we did not miss the TV at all.

If you plan on skiing while you are there the drive is 20 minutes to the mountain. Also, I do recommend that you make your dinner reservations well before your arrival. Many of the restaurants fill up very fast especially during holiday times.

The only "knock" have on this place is the lack of Wifi. We knew there was no Wifi when we booked, but I didn't know how dependent I was on it. Given that this place is out of the way, it would have been nice to google different restaurants, stores for shopping, side trips, and the weather. My 3G did not work on my phone, but my husbands 4G did work.

We would definitely come back! I would love to see this place in the summer and/or the fall. Overall- great experience!

A page out of “Cottage Living Magazine” …

This place is everything a New England rental cottage should be, but rarely are. The pictures, try as they might, don't quite capture the spirit of this place. Heart of pine floors, preserved oak beams, windows letting glorious light in, rooms that are cozy (but not too small), a dining table for 6-8, and (best of all) a game table for cards (our personal favorite, Monopoly) with a fireplace close at hand – all in a VT farm setting. There is no kitchy stuff in it, as the building and muted decor speak for themselves (my hat is off). The beds are comfy (king, queen & one single) and the rooms very restful. The bath is fully updated, and in a befitting style. The kitchen clean and with plenty of space, and includes all but a dishwasher (looks like the space is there, so perhaps the owner will add it later?). No matter, small imperfections are easily forgiven here. In addition, little details - like tissues in every room - capture your attention. And all this with Stowe 5 min drive away, and Mt. Mansfield about 10 mins away. I’ve stayed in a variety of rental homes/cottages, but this one will stand out for its atmosphere and value. Explore the town (you MUST visit Harvest Market), or just stay home with a book and read. The place was so inviting, even the dog didn’t want to leave. “Nice fire … now pass some of that popcorn, will you Dear?” 'Nuff said really ...
