This private shoreline cottage from the 1960s is at the end of a quiet lane on the mill pond of the Little Wolf River about two miles from the center of Manawa in the rolling farmlands of Waupaca County.
There is fishing right off the private pier: northern pike, perch, bass, bluegills, crappies, pumpkin fish and the occasional brown trout. This area has great spots for the fish to hide in.
Two bedrooms with room in the closets and dressers for your belongings, an orthopedic memory-foam queen bed & a new queen, hardwood flooring, a comfortable living-room with leather couches, new HD-TV, games, playing cards, books and a fully-equipped kitchen with new appliances and a dining area will help to make you feel right at home.
Get away from the hustle and bustle for awhile. Bring your binoculars to watch the birds. Cardinals, king-fishers, woodpeckers, nuthatches and chickadees live here and so do sand-hill cranes, Canadian geese and squirrels. You can take the portable fire pit and the camping chairs into the yard, lounge in the hammocks (1 double, 1 single) or settle in at the campfire site close to the water on the collapsible lawn chairs. Pull the boat into the water and use the oars to get around or ask Jason for the trolling motor. Have fun and see some of the open countryside on the twin 3-speed cruiser bikes. Bring your snowmobile in winter and use the miles of trails in the area; access them right at the pond. Watch the sun rise over the lake across the expansive level yard from the house and porch through the old-stand trees.
I am lucky to have a great care-taker who lives next door and watches over the house through all the seasons. This makes the cottage available for use all year 'round. He is a great fisherman who can swear by this private part of the pond as a fisherman's hideaway spot both summer and winter.

A fifth-generation California resident who lost her heart to Switzerland would not normally have a cottage in rural Wisconsin, but this is special. I live in Chur, Switzerland, and see my family in California about once a year. I have visited Manawa quite a few times to see where my good friend grew up.
Charlene Brunner purchased this cottage in 2005
When my friend showed me the area where she was raised, I was smitten with the beautiful farms, woodlands and lake areas...but especially with the quaint little ranch-style cottage I found there on the quiet man-made lake called Manawa Mill Pond. The 1-plus acre yard around the house with old-stand trees provides it with plenty of privacy and peacefulness, especially because of the 400-yard lake-shore access. There is no traffic because it is at the end of a country cul-de-sac lane.
This cottage gives vactioners a chance to spend time in an absolutely quiet place away from home. I recently had the opportunity to visit the cottage and loved the feeling of security and seclusion it gave me. Bird-watching, fishing, some swimming and barbecuing, but also reading and painting here are the highlights.
I have enjoyed the Mid-Western Rodeo in Manawa in July and have seen some of the old cars that are shown at the Iola Car Show.
Green Bay is worth a trip for many reasons. The Wisconsin Dells, too.
I furnished the cottage in 2005 from some of the local stores but especially from the antique shops in New London and Waupaca. For antique lovers there is also the big Osh Kosh show.
Manawa is a convenient distance from the Outagamie Airport in Appleton and not a bad drive from Chicago, where I can enjoy the Windy City before taking off to Switzerland or California.
I was in town for business for two months, and so thankful I found this wonderful home. I was greeted immediately by Jason we quickly became friends. The home is very comfortable and has everything you need. I really enjoyed the large property so beautiful to wake up and see the lake. Charlene was very easy to work with and responds fast. Thank you to Jason and his family for making me feel so welcome. Highly recommend this home.
We (2 adults and 2 children) were looking for a cabin for a quick weekend getaway, and found this property. It was a great choice! Between the play area, large yard, boat, and fishing we didn't have to leave at all and had more then enough entertainment to occupy the minds of a 4 and 1 yr old. We caught a hand full of bass from shore, and several perch and panfish as well. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen, is spacious, and very comfortable. We would highly recommend it and plan on going back soon!
The cottage had all we needed to play outside with our family, cook some meals at home, and be comfortable. It was a bit far from any family attractions. Nice stay.
The cottage has a well equipped kitchen, is spacious and very comfortable (and very, very clean). The real "gem" is the backyard which pictures simply cannot do justice. Old, beautiful trees surround the lot on all sides; it feels like you're on a private island. No city lights to diminish the magnificence of the stars at night and the sunrise from the back bedroom window is amazing. I loved the kayaking, grilling out every night on the Weber, and sitting around the campfire watching the moon come up.
My husband, son and I decided to celebrate my 40th bday with a get away to the northern woods. My 2yr old's first comment was "beautiful trees" as we got out of the car. I agree the lot is secluded and peaceful with large pine and maple trees along with a beautiful view of the Wolf River. The home was perfect for our needs. Jason was helpful with getting the boat set up. We can't wait to come back to visit. Only a 2 hour drive from Milwaukee.
We loved our stay! The house is very cozy and hado everything we needed. The bathroom is very nice. Plenty of space. The backyard is huge! We had a nice grill session using the weber grill that is provided and sitting around the campfire was very relaxing. We docked our boat by the dock and enjoyed some nice boat rides and fishing on the lake. Caught plenty of fish! Jason was very helpful and nice. The nearby grocery store is stocked up with anything you may need and cute ice cream/ coffee house is nice to go get a treat. Recommend to anyone who is trying to get away and relax!
