About Ginny Reiss

We fell in love with Captiva the first time we visited. We feel so lucky to have a home here and to spend part of the year in this beautiful part of the world. The island is very special to us. Our children were married here and we love spending time with our grandchildren on the beach. When we aren't here we are in Colorado enjoying the mountains.

Ginny Reiss purchased this house in 1999

Why Ginny Reiss chose Florida

We think that vacationing in Captiva is better than being on any Caribbean island. The beaches are beautiful and you're close to both the gulf as well as the bay.

What makes this house unique

Life is easy and relaxed in Captiva and we've met so many wonderful people who come year after year. Captiva is a magical place - with sensational sunsets!!

Wonderful home in a quiet Captiva neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful time staying in this home! Our group consisted of 4 adults and 2 children, and we all loved this house. It was furnished very comfortably and had a very beachy feel, which we love. We cooked a lot of meals at home and found the kitchen had everything we needed. I loved having a washer and dryer in the house, as well as the outdoor shower for rinsing off sand and salt water. We usually stay on Sanibel, this was our first time staying on Captiva, and we could not have been more pleased with our experience. We spent a lot of time relaxing in my favorite spot, the large lanai, and my husband and son played catch in the grassy yard. The neighborhood has a very nice pool, tennis courts, gas grills, and a wonderful boardwalk to the ocean. The beach is a 2 minute walk from the house. The location could not be better-we walked to The Mucky Duck, RC Otters, and Cantina Captiva for several meals. We watched the sunsets nightly from the beach and saw more dolphins playing in the shallow surf on this trip than all my previous visits to the islands combined! We also had a great "front row" seat from the beach for Tween Waters Inn's annual firework show, which was amazing. We drove over to Sanibel for several meals (Sanibel Fish House is our absolute favorite) and shopping, and hiked the on Bailey Tract, where we normally catch a glimpse of an alligator. This time, however, a Florida bobcat walked right out onto the trail in front of us! Owner Ginny was very receptive and answered any questions promptly. We will definitely stay here again!

Fantastic and exactly as advertised!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and two children (12 and 9) stayed here for a week in June 2013. The pictures and description were very accurate and might not even do it justice. It is a very nice place for a family to spend a week. The Sunset Captiva community is a quiet place, very nice community pool within a 2 minute walk of this home and it is not overcrowded at all at the pool. The gas grills are very well maintained that accompany the pool area and there is a nice boardwalk that leads from the pool to the beach. The beach is great as there are some waves, but not anything overwhelming. Very laid back beach, tons of shells and nice sand.

The home itself is well decorated and has all the amenities you would want. Terrific covered and screened deck with a lot of seating to relax and sip a cocktail in the evening.

This was our third time in Captiva and it is a great place to stay. We sea kayaked, parasailed, fished the flats on the bay side and spent everyday on the beach. Tip: rent a golf cart to get around. Much more fun that a car, even though you could literally walk to all the restaurants from this home. We plan to be back and this home will be first on our list of places to choose from.

Just What the DOCKtor Ordered

  • 5 of 5

The house was everything we expected AND MORE! Captiva Island is a great place to relax or get as active as you wish. We love the beautiful and relaxing decor of the home, and the pool and tennis courts are right out the door. Begin each day reading the paper or a good book relaxing on the private screened porch. If you just can't avoid work, the brand new office is great and the view from your desk keeps you in a Florida state of mind. The wonderful beach is literally 3 minutes away. There would have been no problem eating each meal at the home, but there are so many restaurants within walking distance that we loved mixing our routine through the week. As for the restaurants; you can choose one where your swimsuit is all you need, or enjoy white table cloth dining, again, all within minutes from Sunset Captiva. Jump in your car and the choices multiply. Para sailing and fishing provide great water experiences. However, the best part of your vacation is knowing you have a beautiful home to return to.

My wife an I are truly "raving fans!" We plan to return again and again.

Highly recommend

  • 5 of 5

The home was just as it was on the website. Beautiful, roomy, very clean and so close to everything. The owners were very easy to work with and were helpful in directing us to many good restaurants, where the shopping was and and also where we could rent bikes. The home also included many extras. We didn't have to worry about packing beach chairs, towels, toilet paper, paper towels, spices and other kitchen items. We would go back there in a heartbeat! The area is so beautiful

The title hits the mark!

This is a great house on a great island. Wonderful place to relax. The beach is beautiful and, just as the ad says, a very short walk away. Restaurants in the area run the gauntlet from very casual to fine dining.

There are many activities to keep you as busy as you like.

I'm sure I'll go back for a "return engagement."
