Here’s a little “talk story” about our condo in the Maui Vista. We hope it will give you an accurate picture of our Maui home and help you make the best decision for your vacation.

We recently had guests who split their Maui vacation between our condo and another in the Maui Vista complex. When our guests returned home, they wrote us to say that, even though the other unit had just been remodeled and everything was brand new, they wished that they had been able to spend their entire vacation in our unit. He wrote “There is something magical about your condo. We loved it! We were comfortable and relaxed and had everything we needed and then some. We will be back!”

That seems to sum it up pretty well.

This condo is a magical place. It has good vibes, I think because it seems to draw exceptionally wonderful guests who leave the imprint of their happy memories and love of the islands for everyone who follows.

We do take very good care of the condo and keep it updated. In June 2015, we bought a new sofa sleeper - it's a commercial frame and does not have that uncomfortable bar in the middle - and had the dining chairs upholstered to match. We also installed a fan in the living room. A year before, in June 2014, we removed the popcorn ceiling - it looks so nice! We replaced the interior doors with raised six-panel ones and new hardware. We replaced the bedroom dresser and night stands (now we have night chests - more drawers for storage, helpful for guests who stay longer), and we bought a new living room air conditioner.

In addition to the June 2015 and 2014 upgrades, in 2013 we added new tile flooring; a new vanity, vanity top, faucet, and towel bars; solid thermal pane windows that replaced the drafty louvered ones (and help keep the unit very quiet); and a new mattress, springs and bed (headboard and frame); and in 2012, replaced the carpet. We personally “visit” at least three times a year to restock and replace items that need replacing, clean the carpets and every little corner in the unit, touch up the paint, and organize cupboards and linens to our standards. (Some people think we are on vacation! Not so!)

As you can tell from the reviews, you will have every supply that we can think of; but I still need to tell you that the pillows are really good – and there are two down ones for those like me who use down pillows. You will also find an exceptionally clean condo; our managers send a re-inspector before each guest arrives to be certain that the housekeepers have done their usual outstanding job.

People do ask us why we keep our rates so reasonable. It's because we very much want you to have a wonderful vacation that doesn’t break your personal bank. We used to live on the mainland and struggled every vacation to find a balance between the money we spent and the value we received on our Maui vacations. We found that we were able to have a wonderful vacation and manage our resources if we prepared many of our own meals (we brought many of our own supplies and kitchen gadgets and consequently learned to supply this condo with those items) and stayed at condos where we didn’t have to pay $15 or $20 a night for parking. We became hooked on condo vacationing, especially in wonderful Kihei.

Other information you might want to know: We are located on the second floor of building one, unit 1225. It’s an end unit and consequently is a little larger than most one bedroom units and has air conditioners in the living room and the bedroom. We have both a hide-a-bed and a queen Aerobed, the two layer kind with a headboard. We also have an infant play n pack and a portable bed for a small child.We have electronic locks, the combination of which is changed for each new guest. We don’t charge you a fee if you pay by credit card and we don’t charge a cleaning fee if you stay four nights or longer. We also don’t require that you purchase damage insurance because we have never had guests who have damaged the unit. The Maui Vista does not have a resort fee or a check in fee. We do have professional managers, Maui Condo and Home, 800-822-4409, available 24/7 to handle issues that you might have. (Hawaii law requires that we have an on-island representative and we live on the Big Island) Maui Condo also handles financial transactions (that don't go through VRBO) for us. They do charge a $40 booking fee to our guests.

Of course you have access to the pools, barbecues, and the tennis courts at the Maui Vista, and are just steps from Charlie Young Beach, one of the best beaches on the island. Just grab the beach chairs, the umbrella, beach towels and cooler and, in fewer than five minutes, you're on the beach!

About Stafford or Nancy Lombard

Aloha!

We're Hawaii residents - we live in Keaau, Big Island, just south of Hilo Town. We moved here from the Seattle area (go Mariners!) a few years ago. Stafford is retired, or as retired as one can be when managing an acre of yard, fruit trees, and pineapples in Hawaii. Nancy works part time on a suicide prevention grant funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration through the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii and occasionally teaches professional development classes (It feels like more than occasionally lately!).

We love Maui, it's our favorite vacation spot. We bought this condo to enjoy ourselves and to share with friends, ohana, and you.

I just wanted you to know how much David & I enjoyed our stay at your condo in Kihei. You forgot absolutely nothing which made our stay carefree. We especially enjoyed the chairs and umbrella for the beach since we are no longer tanning bunnies. The location was great and when we didn't feel like driving, it was so nice to just walk across the street to the beach. We will certainly recommend your place to others and I'm so happy Dawn made the recommendation to us. I'm not sure we'll return to Kihei next time as I think I have David convinced to try Kauii next time. He had only been to Honolulu (4 times) before venturing to Maui this time!

we will be back

the apartment was perfect for two adults and one child. The accommodation is equipped with everything you need (and more), we would prefer to live here forever. the apartment is on the second floor of a very nice urbanization. Outside is a pool a tennis court and two BBQ. The beach is only a short walk across the street.

Incredible experience at the condo- awesome owners

My husband and I spent the month of May in Maui, we stayed at the Westin in Lahaina for a week and a half then this condo for the remainder of the month. While we enjoyed the Westin but it felt like everything was so expensive we could not even have a reasonable priced meal we started feeling spending fatigue. Once we arrived at the condo we felt so incredible comfortable, we love the condo. The furniture is comfortable and we felt just like we were at home, the bed was so comfortable we felt like we were at home . We deicided to go to the beach and all the accessories were in the closet, we went to the pool and there were awesome towels. Every need was met, the condo was clean and so comfortable we love it and will be back.

SUPER CONDO and GREAT OWNERS

My wife and I had a great time in Nancy and Stafford's condo. It has EVERYTHING you need to make a great vacation. Enjoyed the short walk to the beach and snorkeling among the Green turtles at Charlie Young beach. Moose was the BEST happy hour in town and Life is a Beach took second place for Happy hour. Watching sunset sitting on the wall just a short walk from the condo was also a highlight. Thanks again for the use as everything was just excellent.. After nine visits to Maui we finally did the road to HANA. Great sights but the drive is everything everybody has told me. UGH. Stafford check in and Check out phone calls were very nice touch to just see if we needed anything and to visit about how everything went in our 10 days. Keep up the great touch. Highly recommend this condo and these great owners

Very well equipped

This condo was excellent. As many of the other reviewers have mentioned this condo has everything. We enjoyed snorkelling with the turtles off Charley Young beach which is really close. The cooler on wheels was nice to take down to the beach. There are lots of beach towels to use for the pool(s) or the beach. I would stay at this condo again.

Fantastic

We were blown away with this condo. It was very clean, bright and airy with plenty of space for the two of us. It was well stocked with spices, condiments and everything you could want to go to the beach (coolers, ice packs, chairs, umbrella, and of course the all important boogie boards). The availability of amazing food within walking distance was great and the beach access being only 3 mins away was perfect. The property grounds were immaculate, the staff were very friendly and there was no shortage of great conversations at the communal bbq pit area. Thanks so much for the wonderful experience.
