Aloha! We are Julie and Randy and welcome to our home! We want you to enjoy the fantastic ocean views and luxury of our remodeled 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom condo in Wailea Elua Village - a gated, 24-acre, oceanfront community on beautiful Ulua Beach in Maui.

You should also know that our listing is one of the few truly “by owner” Wailea Elua Village properties on VRBO and HomeAway. Believe it or not 85% of the Elua Village listings on these sites are managed and operated by vacation rental management companies on Maui, where a guest will have no interaction with the actual owner of the condo. In contrast, Julie and I personally handle and manage every single VRBO and HomeAway inquiry and booking for Elua 701. If you book our condo, or send an email to ask a question, you will interact directly with us, not a management company. After all, isn’t VRBO supposed to be Vacation Rental “BY OWNER”?

Our home (Elua 701) is perfectly situated in the center of the Wailea Elua Village property. We are only 150 yards from Ulua beach -- just a 90 second walk to the sand and the world famous 2-mile Wailea Beach Walk that connects all the beachfront resorts along the stunning South Maui shoreline. Our condo is centrally located to the upper pool and Jacuzzi area, tennis court and putting green, as well as the newly remodeled and absolutely beautiful lower pool and pavilion area (which is right next to the beach). Additionally, since our condo is in the middle of the village we are far away from all the road noise of Wailea Alanui Drive which runs along the back of the property. Thus, whether you are relaxing inside our home or outside on the large lanai all you can hear is the surf, the birds, and the breeze in the palms.

From the moment you walk in the door of Elua 701, you will feel at home in our remodeled condo. You will see the quality touches from the granite counter tops to the cool tile flooring. The open floor plan of the main living area includes the well-stocked gourmet kitchen, the dining area with a bar and chilled wine locker, the expansive living room with an additional sitting area, and an entertainment center with a 46-inch Sony LCD wide-screen TV and a CD/DVD home theater system -- all with a fantastic ocean view.

The lanai off of the living room is huge, adding over 400 square feet of outdoor space to the already spacious 1260 square feet interior area of our condo. This outdoor space is partially covered so there is always sun or shade available. The lanai also provides two lounges, a BBQ grill, and a comfortable outdoor dining area for six people. Additionally, there is an intimate bar-height table for two that is truly a special place for morning coffee and evening drinks at sunset.

The Master Suite features a new extra-large 'California King' bed, high-thread-count sheets and bedding, 26-inch LCD flat-screen television, DVD player, and over-sized spa bath towels. The large, ocean view, second bedroom has new Queen and Twin beds with high-thread-count sheets, 26-inch LCD flat-screen television, DVD player, and over-sized spa bath towels in the adjacent bathroom.

Since this is truly a 'by owner' property, you will receive owner-direct pricing. You will also find our home is lovingly cared for with the greatest attention to detail. Our guests also receive exceptional personal attention throughout the entire inquiry and booking process as well as during their stay in our home, which is something they might not receive from a property that is not directly managed and cared for by the owner. We are passionate about Elua 701, not only because it is our second home, but because it is our guest’s home during their vacation on Maui. The quality of your vacation experience in Elua 701 is very important to us, because we know that it is very important to you.

While Julie and I personally handle and manage all details of your booking, we also have the support of a guest services company on Maui that provides the cleaning and maintenance services required to maintain the high standards we insist upon. The support of this company is available to our guests during their stay in Elua 701 should there be a question or issue that Julie and I cannot immediately answer or resolve from our home in California.

Please note the Wailea Elua Village Homeowner’s Association requires a minimum stay of 5 nights for all vacation rentals. We do not offer daily maid service. All bookings are subject to a check-out cleaning fee of $203.14. For stays of 14 nights or more, mid-stay cleanings will be conducted on a nominal 7-day interval. The cost of a mid-stay cleaning service is $130.22. All bookings are also subject to the Wailea Elua HOA guest check-in fee of $104.17.

Wonderful vacation at Elua 701!

We had a wonderful vacation, staying in Elua Village 701! The home is beautiful and modern, and has everything you will need for your stay. The views from the lanai are beautiful, with the ocean and all the green plants and flowers! The owners Randy and Julie are great to deal with concerning the booking process, and all the way up through your stay. Would highly recommend Elua 701!

Check-in/check-out process:

-super smooth, the key code was simple, access to internet, the pool etc. was all very clear. The check-out procedures were simple and there was a clear expectation of how to operate the house and other items (laundry etc..) by the convenient signs placed throughout the condo.

The property:

It doesn't get any better for location in Wailea than these condos w/o paying for a 5-star (and much more expensive) resort. This place had all the upside of staying somewhere like the Fairmont (waterfront, close to shops, pool etc..) w/o the price tag and the crowds. It felt even more exclusive because of the low-key atmosphere in the condo property. The pool was, as advertised just a 2-minute walk, and right on the water's edge. It was super nice (for those of us that tend to burn faster) that there was a large and comfortable lounge area poolside equipped w/ a kitchen to BYO-snacks/drinks. Everything was beatifully manicured, up-to-date, and well maintained. The complex staff at the gate and around the property were very friendly as were the other owners and guests we met along the way. The beach in front of the property was great as were the private little grassy areas at the water's edger for the use of the condo owners and guests. This was definitely an unexpected feature.

The condo:

The rooms and furniture were comfortable, well decorated, and very clean. The kitchen had very well stocked and organized supplies for everything inside and out. The small touches (portable water bottles, beach blankets etc..) make a difference when you're traveling and don't want to have to buy all of these things. There were plenty of towels, sheets, blankets etc, so everything felt very welcoming and like you were in your own home. The only suggestion I have would be to provide a pack-n-play for guests with small children, or to be more explicit that one is not provided, and give the names of the two services in Maui where those items can be rented in advance. I contacted them, but I was a little too late to make the reservation of all the things we needed.

Our experience was excellent.

We love the Elua Village. It is a sanctuary within the busy Wailea environment. Condo #701 is a wonderful - well appointed and well stock to meet the vacationer's needs. Randy and Julie did their very best to make our vacation perfect. The simplified and explained every step in the process. We had a family reunion so I rented 3 other condos as well. Randy Smith was clearly the most helpful and available individual we dealt with. He truly understands Customer Service. We will be back.

X Mas in Maui

What a fabulous X-Mas vacation it was in this beautiful well appointed, clean and open condo. This was our home for 2 weeks and it was very difficult to depart for a return to winter. Having a coffee on the open beautiful lanai with the Pacific in the distance. Access to the Wailea Shops, restaurants, stores and world class beaches, can't beat it. Would give this property 2 thumbs up, outstanding on so many levels.

#701 Elua Village

We were very pleased with everything including easy check in and very good gate security. The location to the beach and pool was very convenient. Nice pool and quiet, relaxing atmosphere. The condo was very clean and had a super stocked kitchen and nice appliances.

We were very comfortable there and enjoyed the lanai as well. We would recommend this place to our friends. Shirley Graham & family

Location, location, location!

My family and I have stayed at many Wailea condos over the years, and the Elua property is the best, by far! The paved coastal pathway runs right past Elua, making for pleasant morning walks, and late day strolls for cocktails at the nearby hotels. #701 is a close walk to both pools and the beach. After a morning snorkel insight of the property, the hot tub was great for warming up. This unit has a large patio with a pleasant view, a great bbq, and lots of comfortable patio furniture The kitchen is very well appointed, we were not lacking for anything, and the rest of the condo was very comfortable and well stocked. Our booking process went smoothly. Randy was always quick to respond to any questions. We were greeted cordially by the guard at the Elua gate upon our late evening arrival. Our damage deposit was returned promptly. We would definitely recommend this unit, and the Elua property, with its lovely landscaping and proximity to the beach is fantastic.

About Randy Smith


We were married on the beach in Maui, in a wonderful little ceremony attended by just ourselves and our parents. That was back in 1990 and over the years we have absolutely fallen in love with Maui, especially the south (Kihei/Wailea) side. While we are currently still 'tied to our jobs' on the mainland, our plan is to 'someday' retire to Maui. In the meantime, we would love to share our home with you.

Why Randy Smith chose Wailea

We chose the Wailea Elua Village for many reasons. Elua is a gated, oceanfront complex situated on a gorgeous, white sand beach called Ulua Beach. Additionally, the grounds at Elua are absolutely spectacular with orchids growing on almost every tree. Also, we love SCUBA diving, and Elua Village is less than 1-1/2 miles from the Kihei Boat Ramp where all the dive and snorkle boats depart for Molokini Crater and all the other great South Maui dive sites! Finally... that beach we were married on... was Ulua!!

What makes this condo unique

The location of our unit (#701) in the Elua Village is perfect! It is marked by the green pin on the map to the right. Click on the 'satellite' button and then zoom in to see our exact location in the village. We are centrally located, less than 150 yards from the sand of Ulua Beach, as well as the newly remodeled main pool and pavilion area for the Elua Village complex. We are even closer to the mid-village pool and jacuzzi area (which is hardly ever crowded because everyone goes to the new pool/pavilion that is on the beach!) Our location in the village very quiet because we are far away from the road noise of Wailea Alanui Road at the back of the complex. Finally, we have a wonderful ocean view from our huge lanai (which is over 500 square feet!)
