South Fork Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Mountain view with 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, near river and ski area.

This beautiful log home is located in the mountains and on the last street in South Fork, CO. It is situated just in front of a national forest, in the midst of Aspen trees – which attracts absolutely amazing area wildlife! There are three bedrooms and three showers , one with a Bathtub. The master bedroom has a king size bed and shower. There is a Bedroom with a Queen bed , and one with a standard double bed. There is a queen size sofa sleeper in the large living area. On the ground level, there are also two double roll-away beds, (but remember that rollaways are smaller than standard beds). There is a love seat in the office and a library with many books. The laundry room has a large tub washer and dryer.

A spacious open area on the second level contains a fully equipped kitchen, living room with fireplace, and two dining areas. It opens up into a huge upstairs deck on the front of the house, and also onto a sun room. Walk out of the sun room onto a ground level deck and hike into the Rio Grande Forest or up Sentinel Mountain. A double car garage and upstairs covered deck provide shelter for four cars in inclement weather.

-Located just 20 minutes from Wolf Creek Ski Resort and from historic Creede. There is ample space to park recreational equipment/trailers.We just adore this home and know you will too! Located on the border of the Rio Grande National Forest, the yard is popular passage for a variety of wildlife which provides great photographic close-up photos. The upstairs deck is large and accommodates carefree outdoor cooking/eating as well as a place to simply relax. The design of the house allows privacy as well as large areas for group visiting and dining.

The house is on a two acre lot and there is room to park trailers with recreational equipment. The upstairs deck provides great protection underneath from snow and rain in addition to a large two car garage. This house has an upstairs and downstairs area, and both are accessible from the ground level. There are three bedroom, two baths, large open kitchen/living/dining area upstairs, as well as the sunroom and access to the upstairs deck. The downstairs opens up to the two car garage and driveway. There is a basket ball goal by the driveway.

The downstairs has a library, office/computer room, laundry room and bathroom. This is a great place to play games, read or set up roll-a-way beds.

If you like to hike, head out the backyard and check out Sentinel Mountain, or you can simply walk down the street and fish in the Rio Grande River which is probably only a little over one half of a mile.

If you enjoy bird watching, you will love our yard! There are Aspen, Ponderosa, and a variety of pine trees. We also have Abert and Douglas Squirrels that create interesting interactions with the bird population. In the summer, there is a wide variety of bird visitors as well as humming birds.

People are always amazed to look outside the windows and see wild turkeys, bears, and many deer there. Buck with large racks visit to the amazement of hunters who have failed to locate them in the forest. But of course, there is 'no hunting' allowed in our yard!

In the winter, South Fork keeps the streets free of snow so that traveling to Wolf Creek Ski Resort is not a problem. From our house, it is about 18 miles, and the highway is also well maintained.

South Fork is a small, safe town with adequate stores to provide groceries and all types of recreational equipment.

Cell phone signals are good at our house and internet access with 10 meg download speed. TV with HDMI so bring your Roku/Apple/Google Plug!

About Martin Delaney

We moved (reluctantly) from our home in South Fork, Colorado back to our Texas farm for business reasons. Gloria is a retired professor from the University of North Texas and Martin manages the farm and real estate rentals.

Martin Delaney purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Martin Delaney chose South Central Colorado

We purchased this property because we love the mountains, small town atmosphere, friendly folks, wildlife that regularly visit in the yard, and available outdoor recreational opportunities year round. It is a wonderful escape from the busy rat race that most of us have lived in.

What makes this cabin unique

The tranquility of this location is wonderful and abundance of wildlife in the yard is always fun to watch. We always have deer and after hibernation season, bears visit as well. E-mail us and we'll send additional photographs from our Picasa Web Album. We always keep a camera by the back door just in case a bear drops by to visit. We've taken a jillion photographs of the wide variety of critters and birds who always visit the yard.

In the summer, it is always cool and the temperature rarely goes above the low 80's. In the winter, a fireplace, Thermal Energy Heaters and a Central Heating System keeps the house toasty warm.

What made us fall in love with this house? Well it had to be the relaxed, comfortable atmosphere of the house interior, and the variety of wildlife that visit the yard. We are always at peace while there, but never bored.

Wonderful property!

Stayed here for a month and loved the house, the deck, and the scenery! Also loved our visiting chipmunks, squirrels, birds and deer! Would be great for a family reunion or any group--large or small! Just bring some food because everything is there! The Delaney's were great to work with! Thanks for a great stay!!

This home was perfect for our family Christmas holiday. The kids skied everyday in excellent conditions. The home was comfortable, in a quiet neighborhood with lots of deer around. (Or Santa's reindeer as the grandkids called them) The home was comfy, warm, and Santa visited to the delight of everyone. It even snowed on Christmas day making for a perfect Christmas and wonderful skiing conditions.

Our only problem was with the can opener- perhaps a replacement might be found?

Thank you for the wonderful holiday with our family. A memory for years to come.

Lovely Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

It is impossible to me that someone could live in such a beautiful place all year round! There had been some bear sightings in the neighborhood and as soon as we got there the neighbors welcomed us and gave us information on the sightings. Quiet neighborhood with a great view. The upstairs deck was such a great place to sit in the mornings and evenings to relax. Deer were in the backyard everyday. I absolutely loved this home and location and can't wait to come back again! Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!

Great place for a family!

  • 5 of 5

I love to ski Wolf Creek and this is a perfect location for those that want to visit Wolf Creek Ski and Pagosa Springs. The home is in a BEAUTIFUL location. My husband and I were able to go hiking up the mountain right in the back yard and loved the constant deer sightings. They come right up to the back door daily. This house is cozy and perfect for a family with small kids. Very much a home away from home. The house provides all the amenities of our own home and we loved the hot tub after a day of playing in the snow. We are already planning our next vacation to Wolf Creek and looking forward to returning to this property.
