About Greg

Michigan native. Enjoy the outdoors! Love nature and my canine Aussie - Abby.

In 1980, I set out from Michigan to Washington, a 2,400 mile cross country hike in search of the perfect location for me to call home. I found it here in Leavenworth.

I also found that inn keeping is my passion. In 1983, I started my first lodging business. In 2005, River Meadows LLC was born and Riverdance Lodge opened which later expanded to include Meadowdance Lodge and Meadowdance Chalet.

One of the things that I enjoy is that I have my own salmon hole at Riverdance Lodge to share with my guests. I feel very fortunate to have found my home in a magical location....come share the dance with me.

Greg purchased this house in 2006

Why Greg chose Central Cascade Mountains

In response to a for sale ad in the newspaper, my first visit to the property was in the spring of 1988.

When I found the property, there was only a primitive dirt road. It was early morning as I walked through the rough trail with my six-month old son Josh on by back and my golden lab "Honey". I remember asking myself if we were at the right place. We wound down through the thick stand of Cottonwood trees and various wild bushes when suddenly the trail opened to an incredibly expansive and breathtaking meadow. I realized that I was standing at the confluence of the Wenatchee and Icicle Rivers.

I stood in awe in that early morning light gazing at the surrounding snow capped mountains where the two rivers met. I knew that I had found a special place. I'll always remember that day, Josh gurgling with laughter as we skipped stones on the river and Honey fetching sticks...I didn't waste any time purchasing what is now Riverdance Lodge.

Now, more than 20 years later and all the dancing my family have experienced on this river, we offer to share this dance with you.

What makes this house unique

It's Not a House, It's an Experience!

You’re stay is my first priority. Your fun starts when making reservations. As the owner, I can assist you in planning your retreat/vacation. You won’t have the usual concerns of where to go for fun or who has the best safety record. You can relax and let the scenery go by or for those looking for a little more adventure there are lots of activities right out the front door.

Photo opportunities are everywhere, eagle, deer and bear are common sightings. Hang out at the rivers edge for the next critter experience or kick back on the deck and let the next photo come to you.

Loved it!

This was my first ever VRBO and it worked out perfectly. The pictures are spot on - everything looked exactly the same in person. The kitchen was nicely equipped. The hot tub was a joy. The big screen tv was perfect for Monday night football. The dogs loved to run on the lawn and swim in the river. It is close to town and the setting is really lovely. Greg was a gracious host and very responsive when we had questions. I would definitely recommend this spot and will definitely come back.

Outstanding (as advertised)!

  • 5 of 5

This place was absolutely perfect, and exactly what I wanted it to be. Way back in February, I knew I wanted to get a house on the river in the mountains for a getaway with friends before I tie the knot (I hesitate to use the term "Bachelor Party"). Our group wanted to go hiking, river tubing, fishing, and just have a great place to go back to at the end of the day in an ideal setting, and this place was exactly that. First of, Greg was super accommodating, transparent, and professional through the whole process. We arrived to the immaculately clean house with music playing, and Greg showed up a while later to go over some items and answer questions. Second, the house itself was breathtaking; outstanding views, right on the river as shown in the pictures, huge meadow yard, hot tub, sauna, double deck, comfortable bedrooms, great kitchen, game room, etc. Third, while I would like to think we weren't overly difficult guests, with neighbors (on one side only) and being in the bottom of a valley, it's inevitable noise will carry and Greg had warned us about the noise ordinance... neighbors showed up one night to tell us to quiet down (which we did), and that was all we heard from anyone. Granted, this isn't the type of place for college kids who want to be wild, nor should it be - I'd say our group was right on the edge of the target demo (all around 30, working professional males, outdoorsy but like to have a good time). Greg treated us with respect and was extremely reasonable and accommodating. Also, each of my friends commented that this was the best vacation rental they had seen. Thank you for a memorable weekend; you made my summer! I'd love to come back with my family one day when the river levels are back to normal and the fish are running. Thanks very much Greg.

Beautiful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I booked the lodge for a family getaway - 6 adults and a small dog. This is a great house to make into home for a few days! There are enough kitchen supplies to make anyone who loves to cook happy. We enjoyed family meals around the dining table and on the outdoor deck. There are a few small things that need to be fixed but nothing major that makes you not enjoy staying here. It was fun to walk down to the river and experience the peace of sitting in a chair overlooking the river and mountains with my morning coffee. My husband and brother-in-law would definitely love to come back earlier in the spring/summer for some salmon fishing and floating down the river looks fun too. We did see a few trout in the water but weren't there long enough to explore fishing options. Safeway for groceries and all the shopping and dining in downtown Leavenworth are very close. If the weather wasn't so hot and you wanted a long walk you could walk to town. We enjoyed a couple games of ping pong too as well as just relaxing in the two "living rooms" or outside on the decks. Great place! We'll definitely book again when we have a chance to return to Leavenworth for a few days or a week, in any season, since there is so much to do around Leavenworth or just relax at the house.

My husband, myself, our 2 young boys, and our much loved fur child, stayed at the Riverdance Lodge for 4 nights. It was the best vacation we have ever had. The lodge itself was beautiful and far met our expectations. It was very clean, and came equiped with everything one could possibly need for a comfortable, relaxing stay. The property the lodge is on is beyond words. We were steps from our own private fishing hole. We were minutes from town, but also tucked away in our own private setting. It was the best of both world's. The owner, Greg, was the icing on the cake. He was so friendly and had lots of interesting tails to tell. He was so nice to my whole family, patient with my kids, and is a dog lover. (He himself has a dog, Abby, who is very sweet and was very good with my children and my own dog) I would highly recommend the Riverdance Lodge to families, although it is very suitable for group getaways or a couples retreat. We are already planning to return in August and possibly November, and we would not think to stay anywhere else, but at one of Greg's speical retreats.

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

This place was better than expected. It was a few minutes drive into Downtown Leavenworth. There was plenty of room to sleep and very comfortable with two kitchens 1 upstairs and 1 down.We had a party of 7 and enjoyed the sauna, hot tub,and fishing. The back yard goes out approx. 200 feet to the edge of the river with a fire pit, benches, and table. There is one neighbor on the left but you wouldn't even know they're there. The right side is wide open plenty of privacy all around. The view of the mountains is amazing off the back porch.Greg was very nice and on time and we had no issues getting in. No loud noise after 8pm. All you need is food and clothes. The house has everything you need to have a great getaway experience. We will definitely be going back to this place every year.

Great Family Get Together!!

  • 5 of 5

We planned a surprise 60th Birthday getaway for my husband and Riverdance Lodge turned out to be a wonderful place. Our son's and their familys joined us so there werw 10 of us. Riverdance Lodge had plenty of space and we never felt like we were tripping over one another. The kids really enjoyed the hottub, game room and the theater room. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything one needs to survive feeding the troops.

We enjoyed the firepit and sitting around watching the river. My husband and son's would love to come back and fish salmon.

The decision was made to make this an annual event. Riverdance Lodge was more than we expected and truey enjoyed the experience!!
