London Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Garden Apartment - 3 Bedrooms - 2 Baths - (Sleeps 2-5)

Our Southbank garden apartment, in the new heart of London, is 100 yards from The Thames behind The OXO Tower between Waterloo Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge.

Our apartment is on the first and second floors of a small, modern block of 16 apartments. The first floor comprises of a living room and full kitchen. There are patio doors onto a beautiful, planted deck with a table and chairs for al fresco dining. There is also a double bedroom and shower room on this floor. There is also a a third bedroom with bunk beds suitable for two children or one adult.. On the second floor is an en suite master bedroom overlooking the garden deck. There is an elevator.

We are very close to the cultural heart of London including The National Theatre, Hayward Gallery, Royal Festival Hall, National Film Theatre, Tate Modern, Globe Theatre and The London Eye. There are lots of places nearby to eat and drink to cover all tastes and budgets.

Location: We are ten minutes from two tube stops (Waterloo and Blackfriars), which have 5 lines between them as well as British Rail services. For the most picturesque walk along The River, we use Embankment Station, which takes 15 to 20 minutes depending on how many photos you take!

Eating: We have plenty of places nearby to eat including two very good restaurants in The OXO Tower, which have great views. There are lots of less expensive restaurants within a short distance, many overlooking The River, and a couple of pubs on The River that serve food and drink throughout the day.It truly is the best location in London!

About David and Julia Batchelor-Walsh

David and Julia have always loved the culture of London's South Bank and when the opportunity arose to purchase an apartment they couldn't believe their luck.

They have an eight years' old son, Sebastian.

Julia is a professional, classical singer having trained at The Royal College of Music. Since the birth of Sebastian she has been a full time Mum fitting in the occasional concert.

David is a full time Dad and says it's the best thing he has ever done!

David and Julia Batchelor-Walsh purchased this apartment in 2005

Why David and Julia Batchelor-Walsh chose London

The South Bank is the vibrant cultural centre of London. Our apartment is near Tate Modern, the world's most visited modern art gallery and a host of other attractions including The Globe Theatre, St Paul's Cathedral, The National Theatre, The National Film Theatre, Hayward Gallery, The Royal Festival Hall, London Eye etc etc.

We are within walking distance of theatreland and Covent Garden and there are lots and lots of places to eat and drink to suit all tastes and budgets.

Public transport is fabulous particularly the RV1 bus which stops outside our apartment block and runs, mainly along The River, from Tower Hill to Covent Garden via Waterloo. It is a very frequent service. Taxis are abundant.

What makes this apartment unique

Garden apartment in the middle of London close to many of London's major tourist and cultural attractions and a short walk from The Thames.

Dear David,

I would like to tell you that we 4 really enjoyed our holidays in London.

Your flat is great. Thank you for all the breakfast-things in the refrigiator.

Even the weather was fantastic !!! So we had a wonderful view from the London Eye.

Superbly located London apartment

  • 5 of 5

Superbly located apartment a stone's throw from the London Eye, with many of London's top attractions within walking distance. We never had to travel more than 6 tube stops to go anywhere that we wanted to go, including the O2, which we went to via a sunny boat trip on a Thames Clipper, and returned via the underground.

We were there on a sunny week, and the patio garden was greatly appreciated, as was the piano, which our 12 year old son loved.

There are lots of good local restaurants within 10 minutes, and Borough Market on Thursday, Friday and Saturday is fabulous for picnic fodder, fruit, cheese and mouthwatering cakes.

Apartment is well equipped and clean, with everything that we needed for our week's stay. Welcome groceries were much appreciated.

We will definitely book this again for our next trip to London.

Better than Expected

  • 5 of 5

We (I, my husband and 11-year old son) stayed here for a week in April and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The flat was comfortable and furnished with everything we needed and more. (Hair dryers and irons were appreciated, as were all the books). The location is superb for exploring London, and there are many places where you can eat or get take-away nearby. Thank you, David and Sebastian for giving us a warm welcome at the flat and for providing topnotch customer service. We would love to return!

Great location with all the comforts of home

  • 5 of 5

The property was in a great location allowing us to take in the local sites quite easily. The flat was well equipped and easily accessible from all areas of the city. We especially liked the homey feel once our long days were behind us. We would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting London.

Perfect South Bank apartment

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great stay here. A great location, David was a wonderful kind and helpful host, from guiding us into a parking spot in the garage to delicious dinners nearby. We had plenty of room, the terrace was lovely, and we appreciated the refrigerator stocked with bread and cereal (and chocolate eggs for our Easter stay). There are also enough good books on the shelves to make you want to stay in. Many thanks to David, Julia and Sebastian!

Nice location

  • 3 of 5

This flat was in a great location, approx 6 blocks from Waterloo Station and right on the RV1 bus route. Very comfortable beds. A little small for 4 adults and a 2 year old, but most flats in London are. David and Sebastian greeted us at the door and were very welcoming! We had a great time! Thanks!

Great beds!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you, Julia, David, and Sebastian for welcoming us to your London home! We slept as well as at home on the wonderful beds, and our granddaughters loved having their own floor upstairs. We arrived on Easter Sunday and were grateful for the food that gave us a good start on Monday. The closeness to the lovely river walk with its restaurants, views, and activity made this location special. The RV1 bus route was handy for Covent Garden and the Tower and a savior at times when we were too tired to walk from the underground station. My husband spent a restful day on the sunny deck reading from your wonderful collection of books. Thank you again!
