Garden Apartment - 3 Bedrooms - 2 Baths - (Sleeps 2-5)

Our Southbank garden apartment, in the new heart of London, is 100 yards from The Thames behind The OXO Tower between Waterloo Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge.

Our apartment is on the first and second floors of a small, modern block of 16 apartments. The first floor comprises of a living room and full kitchen. There are patio doors onto a beautiful, planted deck with a table and chairs for al fresco dining. There is also a double bedroom and shower room on this floor. There is also a a third bedroom with bunk beds suitable for two children or one adult.. On the second floor is an en suite master bedroom overlooking the garden deck. There is an elevator.

We are very close to the cultural heart of London including The National Theatre, Hayward Gallery, Royal Festival Hall, National Film Theatre, Tate Modern, Globe Theatre and The London Eye. There are lots of places nearby to eat and drink to cover all tastes and budgets.

Location: We are ten minutes from two tube stops (Waterloo and Blackfriars), which have 5 lines between them as well as British Rail services. For the most picturesque walk along The River, we use Embankment Station, which takes 15 to 20 minutes depending on how many photos you take!

Eating: We have plenty of places nearby to eat including two very good restaurants in The OXO Tower, which have great views. There are lots of less expensive restaurants within a short distance, many overlooking The River, and a couple of pubs on The River that serve food and drink throughout the day.It truly is the best location in London!

David and Julia have always loved the culture of London's South Bank and when the opportunity arose to purchase an apartment they couldn't believe their luck.

They have an eight years' old son, Sebastian.

Julia is a professional, classical singer having trained at The Royal College of Music. Since the birth of Sebastian she has been a full time Mum fitting in the occasional concert.

David is a full time Dad and says it's the best thing he has ever done!

The South Bank is the vibrant cultural centre of London. Our apartment is near Tate Modern, the world's most visited modern art gallery and a host of other attractions including The Globe Theatre, St Paul's Cathedral, The National Theatre, The National Film Theatre, Hayward Gallery, The Royal Festival Hall, London Eye etc etc.

We are within walking distance of theatreland and Covent Garden and there are lots and lots of places to eat and drink to suit all tastes and budgets.

Public transport is fabulous particularly the RV1 bus which stops outside our apartment block and runs, mainly along The River, from Tower Hill to Covent Garden via Waterloo. It is a very frequent service. Taxis are abundant.

Superbly located London apartment

Superbly located apartment a stone's throw from the London Eye, with many of London's top attractions within walking distance. We never had to travel more than 6 tube stops to go anywhere that we wanted to go, including the O2, which we went to via a sunny boat trip on a Thames Clipper, and returned via the underground.

We were there on a sunny week, and the patio garden was greatly appreciated, as was the piano, which our 12 year old son loved.

There are lots of good local restaurants within 10 minutes, and Borough Market on Thursday, Friday and Saturday is fabulous for picnic fodder, fruit, cheese and mouthwatering cakes.

Apartment is well equipped and clean, with everything that we needed for our week's stay. Welcome groceries were much appreciated.

We will definitely book this again for our next trip to London.

Perfection personified

Over the years we have rented flats in Soho or in East London, but this was perfection in terms of location--safe neighborhood in the booming South Bank one block off the Thames and within walking distance of London's major attractions. I was thrilled with the proximity to the National Theatre where I saw two marvelous plays while the grandchildren loved walking to the London Eye, and my daughter went running every morning along the Queen's Walkway. The well-appointed, book-filled flat had a garden paradise patio where we enjoyed many meals. The flat was peaceful, the building quiet, and the space ample for privacy for all four of our party. The Wharf restaurant in Gabriel's Wharf, only a few minutes from the flat, had excellent fish and chips plus a stunning view of the London skyline. In particular, David was gracious and helpful with requests regarding our stay. We heartily recommend the flat and would rent it again on another trip. Susan and family from Baltimore, Maryland

Excellent location, lovely flat, wonderful hosts!

My friend and I stayed in this lovely flat for four nights in April. The location is perfect. It's close to Blackfriars Tube Station (and of course, Blackfriars Pub!), and an easy walk to the Globe Theater (for which we had tickets for three nights - so nice not to have to rush to the last train after a show!) But it's also close to good grocery stores and restaurants, and yet it's on a relatively quiet street, very close to a park. We are two middle-aged women, and felt very safe. The flat itself is so very comfortable - two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and spread out on two levels, so my friend and I had very nice separate spaces. The living room and kitchen are not huge, but have everything you need, including a washing machine. And the best part was the outdoor space - so lovely - we sat out even though it was chilly, just because it was so peaceful and pretty with all the flowers. I can't say enough about David - such a charming gentleman! He had left us some basics in the fridge, and let us store our luggage in the flat as we were early. The flat was the family's private residence, and their son Sebastian's drawing and photos are out to see - a lovely family. I go to London on average three times a year, and have stayed in many flats. I have to say that this one is outstanding for value for the money, for the location, and for the hosts. We would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic base for family fun

David and Julia were excellent hosts and extremely helpful to us on our first trip as a family to London. The flat itself is just as charming as it appears online. It was the perfect size for our family of three, allowing our teenage daughter to have a floor to herself! The flat's location cannot be beat. We were within walking distance to two tube stations and the regional trains. As a result, we easily were able to make several day trips: one to Stonehenge, another to Oxford. In addition, we walked with no problem to Westminster, the Tower of London, Trafalgar Square, and Buckingham Palace. It's an added plus to be in a residential neighborhood, which enabled us to try some local cuisine and feel a little less like a tourist. We recommend this flat without hesitation! Exceptional Location, Setup Great for Families

Thank you, David Walsh, for providing my family (three adults and two teens) a superb vacation property for our London experience. The location on the South Bank was close to everything we loved most: Borough Market, Westminster, Saint Paul's, Trafalgar Square, Tower Bridge, Tower of London. We enjoyed walking to most of these locations and took in beautiful scenery along the way. The apartment was spacious, clean, and nicely equipped. The large outdoor patio provided extra room - a real bonus. There was great WiFi strength and the washer-dryer came in handy.

I will definitely contact the Walshes - David, Julia and Sebastian - about accommodations on my next trip.
