|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
Enjoy beautiful sunsets and observe ocean-going freighters while relaxing off of the front deck of this beautiful, quiet, bungalow-style, 1,300 sq ft, two story cottage. Low level light pollution provides for great star-gazing, as the sound of loons and the St. Lawrence lapping on the shore put you gently to sleep each night.
With plenty of room to move around, there's no need to feel cramped or stressed in doors or out. Take long walks. Rent or dock your boat at Cedar Point State Park for the best rates, only one half a mile away by foot or one and a half miles by car.
Visit antique stores, book stores, or great restaurants in nearby downtown Clayton, Cape Vincent, Sackett's Harbor, or Alexandria Bay with boat tours, fishing, go-kart tracks, golfing... you name it.

The owners are four individuals who regularly use the cottage for themselves, as well as use it for rental income. Therefore, we feel that what makes us comfortable and wanting to come back over and over again, are the same things that our guests will also value. We make annual updates to the cottage and property, so those of our guests who have continually rented experience desired improvements each time they return.
We want all our guests to feel as if they have received a good value after having stayed with us.
Andy Hays purchased this house in 2008
This home was located right on the St. Lawrence River and was roomy enough to have guests over. The three larger bedrooms weren't cramped as we experienced others' cottages to be and has plenty of closet space. It was also fully and tastefully furnished, but the quiet...so quiet and beautiful sunsets and a sky full of stars. It was so restful that we just couldn't pass it up. We've owned it for seven years now and have absolutely no regrets!! Every time we go to the place we can hardly wait until we are there, and after we leave, we can't wait to get back!
There is plenty of room with no need to feel cramped...even on those rainy days.
Sunsets are 'to die for' is what we continually hear from our guests.
Neighbors are friendly and helpful and are not 'nosy.'
The cottage and view are more than one could ask for. Although the pictures provide you with an accurate description, the very clean Cottage offers so many amenities that you will be in awe. The view, especially early in the morning when the water is perfectly calm as glass, or the sunset on a clear night will impress you, calm you, and make you want to stay there forever. We were there late in the season and it was quiet on The River, but the weather cooperated and stayed in the 80's. We grilled and ate outdoors every day. We wore water shoes and went in The River multiple times throughout the day. It was very easy to just sit in a chair, stare out at the water and relax (zone out). The location is convenient to all things needed, but off of a dead-end road where there is very little traffic (if any other than those living next door). We absolutely plan on returning, if only our schedule would open up again in the near future. Thank you for sharing this beautiful home with everyone.
Family of 5 plus an in-law. We had such a great time in the 1000 Islands, and this cottage is the culmination of "life on the river." The place forces you to relax and wind down. We were surprised by how many things we didn't need to bring with us because the cottage was so well equipped! View was spectacular. Bring binoculars or telescope if you have one...they come in handy not only for stargazing but also for zooming in on ships. One drawback is the number of spiders - the cottage is very clean but it's a cottage by the water after all so you're going to encounter them. Also, not recommended for toddlers because of the steep staircase that leads down to the water. Great for kids 5 and older though.
There is a phrase in the hotel/restaurant industry that is of most importance to a business..."location, location, location", and this phrase can apply to the cottage. It could not be in a better or more beautiful location. It is right on the water and the lovely river is visible out of most of the windows. Amazing sunsets every night, loons,herons, and various other river wildlife. The cottage is on a very quiet, dead end street surrounded by beautiful farmland. It is well maintained, very clean, and well supplied with everything you need. Our family of five found the cottage to be very comfortable and definitely a home away from home.
There are many things to do in the area...we went on fishing charters, SCUBA dive trips, a couple of boat tours to Boldt Castle and Singer Castle, shopped in Clayton and Alexandria Bay, swam in the river and played at the cottage.
Andy Hayes was great to rent from - very helpful and accommodating, friendly, yet professional. All in all it was a wonderful week and a truly "awesome cottage".
This cottage fit our needs perfectly and everything was done very professionally from the use of house, linens, dishes, internet, etc to the notebook of restaurants, places to visit, and warm welcome note. Can't wait to come back next year!
Step outside your car onto some of the most beautiful property/scenery around. The house is lovely to walk into as well. You are greeted with a nice fresh smell of a clean, well cared for home. The amenities provided help make your stay even better. Whether you like to watch the freighters (we saw 27 in a week) or like to wake up to the sound of the waves, this is the place to be. Not only do you get to enjoy all of the above, but Andy Hays and his team are impeccable folks to deal with. Follow through and communication were excellent and they were a pleasure to work with. A beautiful week with beautiful memories of a beautiful place.
Four of us stayed at this house in August. The house is in very good condition and was very clean when we arrived. It is comfortable and had everything we needed. The owners were easy to reach if we had any questions, and even offered suggestions when they knew of events taking place during the time of our visit. The house is in a great location - just far enough away from town to be quiet and not too far as to be inconvenient. The only thing that was missing was an internet connection, but, hey, we were on vacation and it was not needed. We highly recommend staying at the cottage.
