Our family custom designed and built this beautiful log Chalet in this secluded wooded mountain setting, as our weekend mountain get-away and holiday retreat. The family is a little more scattered now so we can now offer our private personal chalet for you and your family's enjoyment and relaxation. The Brooksong Chalet is located 1/4 mile below the top of Ski Mountain and Ober Gatlinburg and the famous Gatlinburg tramway. See live Black Bears at the Black Bear Exhibit at Ober Gatlinburg. Skiing (seasonal) and Ice Skating (year yound) and restaurants and shopping and tons of children's activities including the Alpine Slide (a must do for all ages) and ride the chair lift to the very top of the mountain to the Scenic Overlook and one of the most breathtaking views of the Smokies. Ride the world famous Gatlinburg tramway down the mountain into the heart of the quaint resort mountain village of Gatlinburg for shopping and dining or just for the ride itself.
My wife and I, our two boys, and two dogs live in Knoxville where I run several other businesses. We took over managing the chalet from my elderly grandmother about 10 years ago and have been able to keep the property in the family by doing so. We enjoy trips to the cabin as often as we are able. Our boys love the mountains. Thank you for stopping by, we hope you'll visit our beautiful chalet.
Jessica and James Tidrick purchased this chalet in 1994
My grandparents built this chalet as a mountain retirement home. Unfortunately that never came to be, so we are now pleased to offer this chalet for your family's enjoyment.
This chalet is perfect because of it's convenient and secluded location. It is a 4-5 minute drive to downtown Gatlinburg, as well as a 4-5 minute drive to Ober Gatlinburg at the top of the mountain. The secluded mountain setting makes this the perfect location for a relaxing yet accessible mountain vacation.
My family and I really enjoyed the cabin!! I just recommend that the furniture be updated and get a new cleaning person, she is really doing the basic!! I would stay again!!! Also you have good hot water, loved that !!!
You have to park behind each other and keep moving your cars if one group wants to go somewhere. I loved the location- in the loft it really needs a new couch/ pullout... very used. Kitchen was great, loved the 2 fireplaces.
When just taking a quick look it appears clean, in the master bedroom I had to slide mattress away from wall to reach the wall outlet- it was disgustingly dirty- really needs a good cleaning- all baseboards are filthy. Rats/mice are really bad- you could see each morning where they had been in the kitchen on the stove and counter tops- and we did see a few traps.
We had a great time- but not sure we would stay again.
The cabin is very comfortable and peaceful. Exactly what we were looking for. We especially enjoyed sitting on the deck chairs and picnic table. Evenings were especially quiet. The cabin is a short drive to Gatlinburg, but we never made it there. Overall, the cabin is clean, but a bit "tired". It may not be up to some people's standards. It would have been nice to have a few more cooking utensils like a pizza cutter, pizza pan, and a whisk. Oh, we found the toaster on our last day! It is in the cabinet marked "light bulbs". You'll need to know that. The Living room is dark. It needs a couple lightbulbs replaced... way up there. There is no pantry to store food, which was ok for us staying for a few nights but not for a family staying for a week. No need to bring pepper or coffee filters as there is plenty! Furniture is a bit worn and tired. A throw in the living room would cover the worn areas on the sofa and would have been useful too. A broken lamp in the living room works if you jiggle it. The pull out bed in the loft is broken. Had to use two couch cushions to hold up the mattress. Communication prior to arrival was great, and the price was right. We don't expect or need perfection and we would definitely book this wonderful cabin again. Many thanks for sharing your home with us.
There was plenty of space for 8 of us, and we all had a great time. I would definitely stay here again and/or recommend it to a friend.
Had my daughters's bridal shower weekend with 8 ladies. The cabin was even better than pictures. The decks were awesome as was the hot tub! We were very close to strip & Ober Gatlinburg. Plenty of parking space & sleeps 8 easily. We were hoping to see bears but they must have had other plans. I will definitely see if Brooksong is available on our next trip! Thanks Tidrick family!
Overall it's a nice cabin. The listing says 9 people but that's only if 5 are kids or adults who like to sleep on a pull out in middle of kitchen/living area or a little pull out in the hot loft. I found it inconvenient to have to walk up the stairs for the kitchen. The two bedrooms downstairs were very nice. It was quite an adventure to get up all those steep roads. Also the driveway was falling away so it was hard to back up into the drive or out to leave. Overall it was okay but I don't think we would stay there again or even in that area. People who mostly use their cabin to sleep would love it. The owners were helpful and they take good care of the cabin. The drive should be built back up though.
Helicopter rides, Camel riding, Dollywood, Smoky Mountains, Pigeon Forge, Bungee Jumping, Go Karts, Putt-Putt. Pigeon Forge is minutes away including Dollywood, Seveirville, etc. Our cabin is truly accessible to everything.
