Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

This beautiful hidden newer home is only 25 feet from the bulkhead on a private cove on Puget Sound. Gorgeous views from every Window! Wildlife abounds! Seals, Eagles, Deer, Otter, Mink, Fish jumping, the rare sighting of a whale! This gorgeous and very private setting is perfect for kayaking, beach combing, and hiking, lots of clams, starfish, sea urchins, and crabs at low tide! A fire pit sits just yards from the water for campfires or cookouts! Hideaway is only 18 miles north of Olympia and 7 miles from Shelton near Arcadia Point. Did we mention how peaceful it is. Undeveloped properties surround the Hideaway, only a few homes are on no bank waterfront for miles. It is perfect for family weekends, Girl Friend Getaways, or anyone that wants to feel that they are truly away from it all. Property is over 9 acres of tall cedar and maples with over 550' of waterfront , year round creek and high tide boat launch. Beach Combing the tidelands at low tide is a must.

Stainless Kitchen, with large breakfast bar: Large kitchen with lots of bar top space to sit and watch the cook. Hideaway has an open floor plan with the family room right off the kitchen.

Back to nature: The sun room is the spot to hang out. With it's eight large windows and sliding door to the deck, you can't help but sit and watch all the wild life before you. That Seal that is wondering who you are is Sammy. I don't know when he sleeps because he spends his day patrolling the waters in front of the house. Then at night you can hear him slapping the water in the cove. A couple of times a week at 8:30 AM a doe and her fawns walk by between the deck and the water. Depending on the season (Fall) the salmon come back to spawn in the creeks and rivers. The jumping salmon really make you wish you had bought that fishing license.

The drive down to Hideaway: Hideaway gets its name from where it's located. Coming from Olympia you take Lynch Road off the 101, a nice country 8 mile drive. From Shelton you take Arcadia Road for 7 miles . Then you turn onto a long private driveway. The canopy of maples and cedar let you know right away that this isn't a regular rental. The driveway starts off flat then points down all the way to the no bank waterfront. When beach combing you won't find many homes and those you do are off the waterfront, so you will most likely have the beach to yourself.

A piece of heaven

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful inside and out. We enjoyed our furry friends in the morning and evening eating on the blue berry bushes around the house. We also had the pleasure of meeting Sammy the seal everyday. So peaceful, would love to go back.

House is really hidden away. A nice clean house with a great view of the channel.

  • 4 of 5

My family really enjoyed our stay. We were able to gather oysters and BBQ them. They were delicious and a highlight of our stay.

Our sons and grand kids loved going out on the water in the canoes. The kitchen was well equipped. However, there wasn't enough room in the refrigerator. There was too many leftovers from previous guests. The doors of the refer were full with generic stuff, which left very little space for our specific foods.

Kids loved the little creek and all the games the house was full of. All in all a very nice stay and visit with our family.

It is a great place to take a family!

  • 5 of 5

It is a private retreat and great place to spend with family. My husband and granddaughter enjoyed looking for clams and oysters in the authorized areas. It was too dry for a fire, so no smores. We had deer walk right up to the front of the home almost daily. We didn't check out the trails, so we will have to come back. They had plenty of staples there, so I recommend going to the home before shopping once you get there. The town of Shelton is very close It is 20 minutes from the Capital Mall exit. We look forward to our return.

Mahalo,

Donna & Danny

Fantastic hideaway gem!

  • 5 of 5

This place is spectacular, secluded down a 1/2 mile drive with only 3 other houses. We didn't see a soul the entire weekend and we walked the drive every day. The house is on 10 acres but surrounded by forest so you can't tell where the 10 acres begin or end, you're just in a beautiful house in the forest.

You don't have to leave the house to experience the beauty of the area as the glassed in living room provides 180 degrees of inlet view. Even from the large kitchen on the other side of the house you can still get views of the inlet.

The kitchen was well appointed which made feeding our family of six a breeze. The large bedrooms and bathrooms made for a very comfortable stay.

Outside, the fire pit was a definite hit with the grand kids as were the canoes. They fished from shore whenever the tide was up and dug clams when it was out.

This place has been placed at the top of our list of places to return to.

Wonderful place to relax

  • 4 of 5

Our six day stay at the Hideaway at Cannery Point was far too short! The home was exactly what we needed to relax & recoup from "real life". We spent a lot of time on the deck and the sun room, wandering to water's edge to dip toes in, and peer into the water. Sammy the Seal made his promised appearances, and it was fun to watch him and a friend cavort across the inlet. We were visited by a lovely little doe and her twin fawns, who were still learning how to control their tails, as they flicked up and down, side to side, and then in circles; their legs were just shy of still being wobbly. Birds of all sorts from an eagle to heron, egrets, ducks, geese, and a whole variety of water birds I couldn't identify.

There were three canoes, but after watching the tide move so quickly in and out, I decided I was not game to try it. I'm a good swimmer, but if I went over, chances of me getting back into the canoe would be slight, and the view worthy of intstagram. They had all the life vests and everything there if you wanted to try.

We visited Harstine Island, for a couple of short hikes; discovered Olympic Mountain Creamery ice cream at the Olympic Bakery & Deli (a delicious HUGE scoop of Lemon Lavender); and were very impressed by our tour of the Wild Felid Advocacy Center. Other than a trip to the grocery these were the only times we left the Hideaway. Took us a while to find the puzzles and games, but once we did we enjoyed spending time with them too.

Everything was as described, making all the arrangements was simple, and we got plenty of information - except maybe where to find the games. :-) If we find ourselves in Washington again, and I certainly hope we will, we would not hesitate to stay at the Hideaway at Cannery Point.
