Shelton House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

This beautiful hidden newer home is only 25 feet from the bulkhead on a private cove on Puget Sound. Gorgeous views from every Window! Wildlife abounds! Seals, Eagles, Deer, Otter, Mink, Fish jumping, the rare sighting of a whale! This gorgeous and very private setting is perfect for kayaking, beach combing, and hiking, lots of clams, starfish, sea urchins, and crabs at low tide! A fire pit sits just yards from the water for campfires or cookouts! Hideaway is only 18 miles north of Olympia and 7 miles from Shelton near Arcadia Point. Did we mention how peaceful it is. Undeveloped properties surround the Hideaway, only a few homes are on no bank waterfront for miles. It is perfect for family weekends, Girl Friend Getaways, or anyone that wants to feel that they are truly away from it all. Property is over 9 acres of tall cedar and maples with over 550' of waterfront , year round creek and high tide boat launch. Beach Combing the tidelands at low tide is a must.

Stainless Kitchen, with large breakfast bar: Large kitchen with lots of bar top space to sit and watch the cook. Hideaway has an open floor plan with the family room right off the kitchen.

Back to nature: The sun room is the spot to hang out. With it's eight large windows and sliding door to the deck, you can't help but sit and watch all the wild life before you. That Seal that is wondering who you are is Sammy. I don't know when he sleeps because he spends his day patrolling the waters in front of the house. Then at night you can hear him slapping the water in the cove. A couple of times a week at 8:30 AM a doe and her fawns walk by between the deck and the water. Depending on the season (Fall) the salmon come back to spawn in the creeks and rivers. The jumping salmon really make you wish you had bought that fishing license.

The drive down to Hideaway: Hideaway gets its name from where it's located. Coming from Olympia you take Lynch Road off the 101, a nice country 8 mile drive. From Shelton you take Arcadia Road for 7 miles . Then you turn onto a long private driveway. The canopy of maples and cedar let you know right away that this isn't a regular rental. The driveway starts off flat then points down all the way to the no bank waterfront. When beach combing you won't find many homes and those you do are off the waterfront, so you will most likely have the beach to yourself.

Breathtaking Experience!!!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I were looking for a woodsy place to stay on the water and experience the northwest at its fullest in just a few days for our ten year anniversary. The Hideaway was perfect!

I can say that the write up and description is 100% accurate. Within the first hour, we saw sea otters, gray harbor seals, and a whale spout in the distance as the sun went down!! The next morning when the tide went out, starfish of every color on the banks.

Being from the other side of the country, we found ourselves just looking at the water for hours. Just incredible.

Extremely private, there was no one around for miles, and at the same time, the house is very easy to find.

The house itself is beautiful and clean on the inside, all updated and the beds are super comfortable.

Lastly, if you're an oyster lover, a memory that will last you a lifetime is being able to walk out at low tide and collect your own! Build a fire and roast them outside. Just amazing!!

We would recommend The Hideaway to anyone and will definitely return.

Great! Will return

  • 5 of 5

Lovely, secluded beachfront retreat. It has a bit of a sandy beach (rare in this part of the world) and lots of marine life to observe. The house is comfortable with all the amenities and great views. Will be coming back.

This place was amazing. Beautiful and quite. On a couple of days we were not outside with the kids because we had about 15 to 20 people from a Oyster company on the beach in front of the house and to the right and left of us till evening. So our grandkids could not fish or hunt for clams. We did have to go to Wal-Mart and buy fishing poles because the ones at the house where all broke and the boat had a hole in so we didn't get to use them either. Other than that it was a beautiful place!

Beautiful secluded summer beachfront cabin

  • 5 of 5

We came to the Olympia area to visit family and we're looking for a fun place to spend the week without imposing too much. We found the hideaway and couldn't tear ourselves away. The tides were incredibly, the kids had a wonderful time catching crabs, jelly fish, starfish and watching the seals play in the water right in front of the cabin. We spent hours each day paddle boarding and canoeing. The hideaway is remote, but if you want a secluded spot to relax in nature this was a wonderful spot. The house was clean, well furnished and had plenty of space for our family of 7 to spread out. We are sad that our relatives in Olympia are moving, if it weren't for that we'd certainly be back.

Secluded perfect family getaway

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time at The Hideaway. We stayed for three nights and never left the property. It was quiet and relaxing. My 6 year old had a great time chasing crabs all over the water front. Overall a great place for the family rejuvenation. Hope to stay here again sometime soon. Thanks!

Portland, Or

Excellent location, tranquil setting, all we needed

  • 5 of 5

Twice we have used this home for a girls get away weekend. It has all the amenities-but NO CELL SERVICE although it does have Wifi-which was PERFECT for us to get away, relax, visit, watch the birds on the water, and cook together. Quick and easy communication with owner. Everything we needed.

Owner's Response: We always welcome our returning guests that now seem to take-up half the calendar. Sorry about the cell service that was a conversation we must have skipped. Verizon and I believe Sprint are picked up throughout the house and property. That leaves ATT and T-Mobile that I have no Idea of reception. I use Verizon Wireless which gets great reception at all times. Were glad you made the best of your lack of cell service and I hope used the house landline phone when needed. Thank you for staying and hope to see you soon. Bill
