This property is as lovely as it appears in the photos: comfortable, spacious, and relaxing. You get the impression
you are staying at lovely family home on a quiet country road, minimal traffic and with wonderful views of the Back River seen from the living room, back enclosed deck, kitchen and dining room and back lawn. In working with the owner, Art, you feel as if you are conversing with a good friend. The property allows for launch of kayaks and canoes easily with the tides and the area has many islands and inlets to explore. The home's central location is great for easy day excursions to neighboring areas from Bath to Wiscasset to Boothbay and includes many local attractions and options for dining and shopping. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and accommodations. Wonderful!
The house is all on one floor which is great. We rented only the larger part of the house (there are extra rooms you can also add if you need them which we didn't). We had three bedrooms and two bathrooms, there's a very large kitchen, well appointed with new appliances, and a big dining area with a table that seats six easily or eight in a pinch. The house is nicely furnished with good quality furniture and one bathroom is obviously very newly re-done and luxuriously so. The other bathroom is slightly older but there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. One bedroom has a ceiling fan. The two smaller bedrooms share the bathroom, with one of the bedrooms having two twin beds, and the other a queen. Both have three windows on two different sides which allow plenty of breeze, and the house has a large and very nice outdoor balcony which is screened in, and opens on to the living room.
Part of our stay was chilly, and the house was perfectly warm without any heat, although it was down in the upper 50s at night. The rest of our stay was fairly warm. Only one day was the house somewhat uncomfortable, when it was 88 degrees that day and rather humid. Most of the time, fans were quite adequate. The house was clean and well-kept as are the grounds (I say grounds since it is a fairly large property). It fronts on to a large inlet and has a lovely view. I will caution you though that it is not on the ocean, so if that is what you are seeking, this is not your house.
My only criticism, and it really is a matter that is up to personal taste, is that I would put an AC in the bedrooms for those nights that are very warm. I don't think the whole house needs it, but room ACs in the bedrooms might be welcome. There is one sash window in each room which could take it and leave two large casement windows for breeze when that is what is wanted. But many would find I'm sure that this was unnecessary. Really there was only one night that was slightly uncomfortable for the first few hours then the temperature went down as it does at night in Maine.
The owner was incredibly solicitous, friendly, and helpful. I cannot state this enough - he is the IDEAL vacation property owner, and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable, happy and well ensconced even getting in touch twice while we were there. He even offered us two extra free nights as he had no one else coming for a few days. Our stay was great - I highly recommend it in every way.
My wife and two adult children have happily vacationed in this part of Maine for many years. As our family has grown to include two additional spouses and five grandchildren, we needed to find a house to accommodate all of us and be child friendly at the same time. The Baumgartners’ house worked out extremely well. The rooms are spacious including a well equipped kitchen and a screened in porch. The bedrooms are very comfortable and all of the rooms are one level. The additional apartment gave us plenty of room to spread out. The large front and back yards and the fact that the house is located on a very quiet street provide a feeling of privacy as well as a safe place to play and take walks. We enjoy kayaking and the lovely tidal waterfront is very user friendly. Garbage collection is also included which is not the case with many other homes in the area. I didn’t miss not having to drive to the local dump!
The house is an easy drive from Boothbay Harbor, Brunswick and Portland. Reid State Park is beautiful and also nearby. A season pass to the park was provided with the house.
The house is accurately portrayed in the photos and the description on the website. We were not disappointed in any way. Art and Cora are very accommodating and extremely easy to deal with. All in all, this was a most satisfactory rental experience that we would highly recommend.
This comfortable home is located on a quiet, out-of-the-way area and is a great place for a family with kids. We vacationed with our two children, my parents and my sister's family of four, and there was plenty of space for everyone, especially with the adjoining apartment. There were beautiful views of the bay, and we were able to launch kayaks from the shore. We also enjoyed our daily walks up and down Phipps Point Road. There isn't a lot of traffic so it's a good place for walking and bike riding. The house was exactly as portrayed in the advertisement, with a big, beautiful kitchen; a screened-in porch; and three comfortable bedrooms in the main house. It was very clean and well-maintained. The owner, Art, was great about answering my questions and promptly returned my emails. The cute little village of Wiscasset is not far, and Portland is less than an hour away. We also visited Boothbay Harbor a few times (the botanical gardens are a must-see!). We also drove about three hours to Acadia. The price is very reasonable for the size of the house. Thanks again to Art and Cora for letting us rent their home for our family trip!
We've rented from Art and Cora for two years now and it has been a great experience both times. The property is in great shape, with everything needed for a relaxed stay. Our daughter and her family stay in the house side while we stay in the apartment - perfect!
Idyllic. That’s the word I would use to describe the house and property at Woolwich. It was excellent for the nine of us as we celebrated a family get-together and the house provided a good balance of spaces for gatherings and for privacy. Plenty of room to have meals together – a fully equipped open-plan kitchen/dining room with oodles of space for all to meet, dine and pitch in with the cooking and clean up.
Many a restful evening was spent chatting in that amazing screened lanai surrounded by the sounds of nature, not to mention morning coffee watching the sunrise and listening to the world wake up. The view is even better than the photos show and twice as serene.
Large, clean bedrooms with firm, comfortable beds plus plenty of linens were supplied and both the main house and adjoining apartment have a washer and dryer.
Everything is provided as listed on the website – there were no unpleasant surprises. Stores and groceries are just a few minutes drive away and it’s a scenic half hour to the breath-taking Reid State Park, complete with free admission courtesy of the pass provided.
I would highly recommend this rental property. It was better than we hoped it would be and all of us agree we would rent it again in the future. The owners are conscientious people who replied promptly and dealt with us honestly.
10 minutes to Bath and Wiscasset. 15 minutes to Brunswick. 20 minutes to Freeport, home of numerous factory outlets. 25 minutes to Boothbay Harbor. 35 minutes to Portland, Maine. 40 minutes to Camden.
