It rests on the banks of the Shannon Branch of the Yeocomico River, near Kinsale on a private waterfront point. It was initially built in 1932 as a fishing cottage and was fully renovated in 2008.
The Lodge is now a 2400 square foot single-story house with an open floor plan that includes beautiful panoramic views of the water. Open layout is also wheel chair friendly. Newly added 12 x 24 waterfront deck with handicap ramp.
The house easily sleeps 10-12 with 4 bedrooms(2 bedrooms on each wing) and a sleeper sofa, 2 full bathrooms, central air and heat, cable TV, a fully equipped kitchen, “Rivah” room with a gorgeous waterfront view, washer-dryer, and a large waterside porch.
Bring your boat and jet skis. There is a pier with 2 boat slips (3.5 – 4 ft MLW) at the property for your use and enjoyment. There is also great fishing and crabbing from the pier. Sandy Point Marina with boat launching facilities and gasoline is located within one mile of the property.

Perfect little get-away
This house was perfect for a special ladies weekend and we couldn't have asked for anything more. The house had everything we needed and the outside space was beyond perfect. We saw many types of birds flying back and forth, fishing and building their nests and was even visited by a baby beaver the first night we were there. And a jellyfish swimming at the end of the dock on our last day! The amount of nature in this area is truly something special. If you're looking for a comfortable place to rest, this is the place to be.
The view and pier access was quite serene. A nice location.
I was expecting a property in better condition. The outside furniture was in disrepair. With the fees paid for cleaning (as much as a night’s stay) I expected the interior to be much cleaner than it was. The home was dirty. Kitchen items were sparse. I expected a home that was more ready for guests.
Great Secluded River Front Property
My friends and I loved staying at Sandy Point Lodge! Bill was very helpful and quick to answer any questions we had. The 4 bedroom house provided more than ample sleeping space for our 8 guests. The kitchen is well stocked (utensils, plates, pots/pans etc) and Bill provides linens and towels as well. There are board games, movies, and books in the cabinet that we enjoyed using. Though it was cold, we also enjoyed making a fire in the firepit outside! What a great value for a house of this size with a private dock and waterfront views - we definitely hope to come back and visit during the warmer months. Thanks again, Bill!
Its a very perfect place to spend valuavle time with your friends
Amazing, We enjoyed a lot. House is very clean well mentain but outside area of the house was not that much clean. We can do Camp 🔥 which was very mindblowing fun.
My husband and I spent 4 wonderful relaxing days at the cottage with our dogs. The cottage is very comfortable and roomy. We tried to do a little fishing but November is not the best time for that but we enjoyed the effort. We did get to see a deer crossing the river one afternoon and otters playing by the pier at sunrise one morning. The cottage is clean and the kitchen has everything you could need. The beds are not the most comfortable...but the quiet made it easy to sleep. The cottage has woods on both sides so our dogs were able to be off-leash and enjoy their stay as well. We hope to make a return trip in spring or fall and catch some fish.
Nice, affordable and secluded getaway place not too far from the city!
My family and I stayed here for a weekend last month (September) and we definitely enjoyed our vacation here. Bill, the owner, was always very friendly to answer all of my questions.
The house is big enough for our family of 10 and we all felt very cozy during our stay here.
I love to fish and this place did not disappoint. We caught plenty of spot fish, croaker and perch. We had no luck with crabbing though, but probably because it wasn't the season for it when we went here.
Other activities that we've done while staying here were kayaking, canoeing, watching movies and sitting by the fire at night.
Compare to other rental places around the Northern Va area, this place is not overpriced. I think the owner really wants people to actually enjoy his property without breaking the bank.
We loved this place so much that we're coming back this month! And most likely again next year!
In the Spring, we offer guided Turkey hunts, and in the Fall, we offer guided Deer Hunting. Please call for more details.
