I am a semi-retired real estate investor who fell in love with Bend and can't find any place I would rather live. There is so much to do here if you like the outdoors, but the community feel is what really makes it special.
John purchased this House in 1999
Why John chose Old Bend
This was my vacation home in Bend before I decided I had to live here permanently. There are not many homes on the river in Bend, which makes it quite special. You can walk through Drake Park along Mirror Pond to downtown Bend in about ten minutes, and the other direction is the Old Mill District. I love this location and neighborhood so much that when I wanted a bigger home, I moved next door. It is rare to find a place that is so close to everything and because of the river still seems a bit wild.
What makes this House unique
It's really all about the river and the central location.

Great location, walkable to Drake Park, downtown, and even the Old Mill District if you're up for it. Lovely view of the water, cozy, well equipped with supplies. Maybe not great for people with small children (fireplace gets pretty hot, and it's the primary heat source), but otherwise no complaints at all.
Simple, Charming Cottage with a great view
John's cottage was just as he displayed in the viewing ad. It has everything you need, and is walking distance to everything you want. Its simple, super clean and the off street parking is nice. I enjoyed watching the ducks on the river and would stay here again. Thank you!
Great cottage, great location!
We enjoyed our weekend, location is great, beautiful walk to downtown and the river is very pretty. The cottage is cute, everything you need for a weekend.

Cozy getaway on the river!!!
This is a cozy one bedroom right on the river perfect for our small family. We loved being able to sit on the deck and watch the river flow by. It is within walking distance to everything. We will definitely be back!!!
John's place is a lovely slice of paradise on the Deschutes. House has everything you need.
What a great host and great location. We loved staying here as it is close to anywhere you'd want to go in bend and it's ON the river! Pleasant little spot with a kayak and a wonderful deck for enjoying this location.
Snowshoeing, floating the river...
