About John

I am a semi-retired real estate investor who fell in love with Bend and can't find any place I would rather live. There is so much to do here if you like the outdoors, but the community feel is what really makes it special.

John purchased this house in 1999

Why John chose Old Bend

This was my vacation home in Bend before I decided I had to live here permanently. There are not many homes on the river in Bend, which makes it quite special. You can walk through Drake Park along Mirror Pond to downtown Bend in about ten minutes, and the other direction is the Old Mill District. I love this location and neighborhood so much that when I wanted a bigger home, I moved next door. It is rare to find a place that is so close to everything and because of the river still seems a bit wild.

What makes this house unique

It's really all about the river and the central location.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Way too short of a stay for us on our first trip to Bend. Thank you so much for being so accommodating from initial contact to after our "checkout". All the recommendations for rides and use of your map and trail book are so very much appreciated. You have a great place in a great town in a beautiful area. Thank you for going above and beyond!

We'll be back soon.

Simple, Charming Cottage with a great view

  • 5 of 5

John's cottage was just as he displayed in the viewing ad. It has everything you need, and is walking distance to everything you want. Its simple, super clean and the off street parking is nice. I enjoyed watching the ducks on the river and would stay here again. Thank you!

Thank you John for opening your cottage to travelers. It's a great location on the river and a short bike ride or walk to local restaurants and downtown. The cottage was very cozy and warm. I would definitely stay again.
