About John

I am a semi-retired real estate investor who fell in love with Bend and can't find any place I would rather live. There is so much to do here if you like the outdoors, but the community feel is what really makes it special.

John purchased this house in 1999

Why John chose Bend

This was my vacation home in Bend before I decided I had to live here permanently. There are not many homes on the river in Bend, which makes it quite special. You can walk through Drake Park along Mirror Pond to downtown Bend in about ten minutes, and the other direction is the Old Mill District. I love this location and neighborhood so much that when I wanted a bigger home, I moved next door. It is rare to find a place that is so close to everything and because of the river still seems a bit wild.

What makes this house unique

It's really all about the river and the central location.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Way too short of a stay for us on our first trip to Bend. Thank you so much for being so accommodating from initial contact to after our "checkout". All the recommendations for rides and use of your map and trail book are so very much appreciated. You have a great place in a great town in a beautiful area. Thank you for going above and beyond!

We'll be back soon.

Wonderful location, cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

For 2 people and a dog, this was the perfect weekend getaway space. The cabin is relatively humble but perfectly adequate, but since we had amazing weather we spent most of our time at the property out on the dock enjoying the river. Great outdoor space for coffee, drinks, meals etc which is the real attraction. Great location, only a couple blocks from Drake park, and easy walking distance from some shops/restaurants on both sides of the river; if you are willing to walk closer to a mile, it's a nice walk downtown as well. The neighborhood was quiet and friendly. We would definitely book again, and recommend.

Enjoyed Bend

  • 5 of 5

Cozy, easy parking, great access to downtown and very clean upon our arrival. I would suggest that more than 2 people could feel tight. We also really enjoyed relaxing by the river and watching nature go by. John was a great host!
