Experience New York at its best in this graciously appointed 2-bedroom, 2-bath duplex on one of the prettiest blocks on the Upper West Side just steps from Central Park.
The apartment is in a historic Georgian townhouse that was commissioned by the family who built the famous Dakota apartment building two blocks away. It is one of several townhouses constructed next to one another that were designed by Hardenburgh, an architect who was inspired by Georgian townhouses in London.
The apartment has its own private entrance, two steps above street level. It opens to an 11 ft high-ceiling living room, which has two large windows, a wood-burning fireplace, French antiques, a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf along the library wall, and a dining area with a large French table. Off the living room is fully-equipped kitchen with high-end appliances and a window. A marble-floor foyer with a coat closet and a full bathroom with high-quality fixtures and crystal chandelier complete the upstairs floor.
Though on the first-floor, the noise level from outside is at a minimum, and floor-to-ceiling drapes and door and window shades provide added privacy at night.
A stairway framed with antique Italian and French prints leads to the downstairs. At the foot of the stairs is a comfortable den decorated in French country style with another wood burning fireplace and 42' flat-screen TV. The master bedroom has a king-size bed; a second bedroom has a queen size bed. Between them is a large bathroom with Waterworks fixtures and tiles and a walk-in shower (upstairs has a bath). There is a walk-in closet in the 2nd bedroom available for use. Each bedroom has an extra wide window.
We provide high-quality bedding and towels.
Both floors have Wi-Fi and central air conditioning, which can be controlled separately.
Central Park is 1/2 block away, as is Columbus Avenue where you'll find great shopping, restaurants, movie theaters and Lincoln Center. The Museum of Natural History is 3 blocks away, as is the New York Historical center. Convenient to 2 subway lines (B,C and 1,2,3), this is a prime location in NYC.
We rent to responsible guests who want the best of New York in a quiet, quality environment. We ask would-be guests to provide a description of themselves in terms of profession and background, along with why they are coming to the city. No pets. No young children. No smoking. Minimum four nights.

Elegant, Fabulous Location, Welcoming and Helpful Owners!
My husband and I had a wonderful NYC visit and it was made so because the property we occupied was perfectly located and beautiful: a couple of steps in from the pleasant street, through a charming entry, you walk into a well-pointed, antique-filled comfortable home, with tall windows along one wall. Many books, artwork and a working fireplace made the large living area cozy and relaxing. The kitchen is completely outfitted with everything a guest could need, with high-end appliances, and a huge window offering plenty of light. A full bath is available on the first floor, plus a very large coat closet. There is plenty of storage throughout the apartment. Below, there is a comfortable family room with a TV, another fireplace, two bedrooms, and another full bath. There is convenient access to the shared laundry room just steps from the downstairs exit.
Come enjoy the riches of this remarkable city, and stay in this elegant, spacious quintessentially made-for-NYC home a block from Central Park, fine and casual dining, markets, transportation, taxi, bus, or subway, and fine museums. We love the West Side in the '70s, because it offers easy access to Broadway, the East Side, and Lower Manhattan.

Everything about this property and our stay was absolutely fabulous! The townhouse is in a wonderful location and so convenient with only 2 steps from the street to the front door. The interior design is gorgeous, the kitchen is fully stocked, and the sheets, towels and pillows were five star hotel quality and plentiful. More importantly, Sheila and Bill were the most gracious hosts imaginable! We will absolutely return!!

The apartment was lovely and well-appointed, close to many tourist destinations. Hosts Bill and Sheila were accommodating and helpful. Location was close to subway for transportation anywhere in the city. We had a great stay!

Fantastic location, beautiful apartment
This place is a NY gem. If you are looking for a true New York experience, this is the place. The apartment is meticulously kept and stunning. The location is one block from the park, & subway, close to restaurants galore, and only three short blocks from the Museum of Natural History. The owners were a pleasure to work with and very responsive. We hope to be repeat customers.

My daughter and I stayed in Sheila and Bill's exquisite New York home for 10 days. To say we were pleasantly surprised upon arrival is a gross understatement. This home is absolutely beautiful, with everything you could possibly imagine you might need. It was so much better than a home away from home and we wanted to move in permanently . Sheila and Bill were wonderful hosts and met us on arrival. We had a great tour of the apartment and were provided with some fabulous information on local restaurants, transport, shopping etc. The apartment is quiet, safe, and in an exclusive area on the Upper West Side. It is close to Central Park, which was great for morning runs and daytime strolls. We would love to return to New York just to stay in this beautiful home again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for that special touch. Thank you very much for having us Sheila and Bill.

Holiday rates apply to Thanksgiving week, Christmas/New Years Weeks, Easter Weekend, Memorial Day Weekend, July 4 week, Labor Day Week. Please inquire about availability and pricing. All rates subject to change. If you need to extend your stay due to canceled flights or some other emergency, if the apartment is available we can extend the say. The day rate will be the same rate as the rest of the stay. Upon confirmation of the rental, we will send a rental agreement which includes the apt. rules which will need to be signed and returned before rental is confirmed.
