A 10 mile stretch of pristine California coastline defines The Sea Ranch. It is a world renowned coastal community with a reputation for award winning architecture and environmentally sound planning. Within the 10 mile limits of The Sea Ranch lie 3 recreation centers with sauna, tennis courts and swimming--all hidden from public view. There is also a very challenging 18 hole golf course. There are also miles and miles of bluff top meadow and redwood trails for hiking and biking. If you cross the road to the east side you will find ancient redwoods and the Gualala river where Jack London used to fish. All the amenities are available to the renter.
The Sea Ranch Lighthouse is a cozy, warm 2 bedroom/2 bath house that can easily sleep four(4),and by using the loft and its twin size trundle bed, it will accommodate six(6).The trundle bed is made up for a single but by pulling out the trundle it will make up to two twins or a double. Both bathrooms have recently been remodeled as well as the kitchen which has all new appliances and is fully equipped to delight the casual or gourmet cook. And when you are done eating, just pop the dishes into the new dishwasher and crank up the blender for some margaritas.
Located on the ocean side of California Hwy 1, the house is an easy five(5) minute walk to the ocean, the children's playground or one of the finest tide-pool areas of the Ranch. You can watch for whales while standing at the large living room window as you get toasty in front of the fireplace or, if you prefer, while you are sitting in the hot tub on the deck. Either way, you will be looking out at a beautiful blue ocean or you could be watching the deer, wild turkeys or rabbits running across the meadow. At night you will see a starry heaven that will take your breath away.
If you rather stay indoors there is a nice window seat that is perfect for that afternoon nap while you listen to music from the DVD player, the I-Pod docking station or the satellite dish. A flat panel HDTV and WI-FI INTERNET rounds out the entertainment options.
The house comes with passes to all the amenities; some interesting reading material about the whaling ships that used to travel from the Northern Coast to San Francisco and a variety of books on the flora and fauna of the Pacific Coast and binoculars.
THE LIGHTHOUSE IS IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE SONOMA COUNTY TRANSIENT OCCUPANCY TAX LAW AND HAS CERTIFICATE #660N.

the house is light and airy and has great spatial design. the views are great and walking to the bluff trail is easy to do. so far its our favorite place to stay of our VRBO rental. thanks again.
We loved staying in this pleasant little house. Decorated in a seaside motif with lighthouse imagery and objects, it is a lovely place to launch out from for walks. The wide meadow and blue ocean view made it a very lovely place to be during the varying weather conditions of the weekend. Thank you!
This was our first time to the Sea Ranch and we fell in love! The Lighthouse cabin was perfect for our family of four, but could definitely accommodate a few more. We were actually happy to have a day with it pouring rain so that we had an excuse to stay in and enjoy the quiet cabin, big picture window views and fireplace all day long. When we did get out, we loved the short walk to the beach through the trees, the adventures climbing the rocks to find new coves and following the trails through the meadows. We also took the drive out to the lighthouse, which was beautiful.
The house isn't oceanfront, but the way the house is situated with the big windows in the back of the house that look out over the open meadow and the ocean views in the distance, make this place memorable. We used the hot-tub each day and felt like we were the only people there!
Only reason not giving it 5 stars is because the house wasn't ready when we arrived after check-in time, which through us off after the long drive. But we learned this was an issue with the previous people leaving late, and Jami, who was cleaning, was very sweet and helpful and gave us directions to enjoy some time exploring while she finished up. Gordon, the owner, was friendly and responsive in all our communication as well.
Also wanted to say that as people not bringing pets, we were a little concerned about this being a pet-friendly place. However, besides the basket they have available with dog blankets/towels for those who need them, you would never know this is a pet-friendly house. Furniture all in good condition and no pet odor at all.
We have been renting homes in Sea Ranch for many years and The Sea ranch Lighthouse turned out to be one of our favs!. Great location, short walk to the beach and numerous trails nearby. Kitchen was well appointed and i had no problem making Thanksgiving dinner. It's a smaller home but there was plenty of room for my wife and I and our 3 younger kids. Thanks for a great stay!
The Sea Ranch area is amazing & a really interesting concept which was conceived in the 60's! Really a lot of history to see @ the lodge & endless walking/biking/running trails, none without awesome views!
The only reason I didn't give the property 5 stars, was because of a mixup when we arrived; after driving 7+ hours, we pulled into raccoon-strewn garbage & previous tenant's leavings... with that said, we called Gordon & he got Jamie on the job within an hour; we went over to the golf course, had a beer & picked up some local knowledge re: the course. When we returned, 2 hours later, the darling house was perfect. We were just 2, so had some extra room. 5 would be a crowd, although seating, beds & bathrooms for all. Two nice masters w/baths downstairs & daybed upstairs; views from everywhere! Loved the sunshades - perfect for privacy, but still muted views. Hot tub in perfect condition, facing the Pacific. Gualala a really interesting, friendly town. We didn't make it to Point Arena... maybe next time? Definitely recommend the "Lighthouse". Gordon & Judy have made this a relaxing, rejuvenating place to spend time. Loved it
The home was so comfortable and charming. The views are great and we loved just walking out the door through the commons down to the beach and tide pools.
The owners were so helpful via email before and during our stay. They were very accommodating of an early checkin. They left great notes thoughout the home to make things easy. We loved our stay and would definitely return.
Fort Ross is about 25 miles south of the lodge. It is the furthest Russian settlement in America and is an interesting visit.
Point Arena to the North has a fishing pier; restaurant and a few stores.
Continuing North to Fort Bragg you have options for deep sea fishing; large grocery stores and fine sea food restaurants. About 25 miles from Sea Ranch.
