A 10 mile stretch of pristine California coastline defines The Sea Ranch. It is a world renowned coastal community with a reputation for award winning architecture and environmentally sound planning. Within the 10 mile limits of The Sea Ranch lie 3 recreation centers with sauna, tennis courts and swimming--all hidden from public view. There is also a very challenging 18 hole golf course. There are also miles and miles of bluff top meadow and redwood trails for hiking and biking. If you cross the road to the east side you will find ancient redwoods and the Gualala river where Jack London used to fish. All the amenities are available to the renter.
The Sea Ranch Lighthouse is a cozy, warm 2 bedroom/2 bath house that can easily sleep four(4),and by using the loft and its twin size trundle bed, it will accommodate six(6).The trundle bed is made up for a single but by pulling out the trundle it will make up to two twins or a double. Both bathrooms have recently been remodeled as well as the kitchen which has all new appliances and is fully equipped to delight the casual or gourmet cook. And when you are done eating, just pop the dishes into the new dishwasher and crank up the blender for some margaritas.
Located on the ocean side of California Hwy 1, the house is an easy five(5) minute walk to the ocean, the children's playground or one of the finest tide-pool areas of the Ranch. You can watch for whales while standing at the large living room window as you get toasty in front of the fireplace or, if you prefer, while you are sitting in the hot tub on the deck. Either way, you will be looking out at a beautiful blue ocean or you could be watching the deer, wild turkeys or rabbits running across the meadow. At night you will see a starry heaven that will take your breath away.
If you rather stay indoors there is a nice window seat that is perfect for that afternoon nap while you listen to music from the DVD player, the I-Pod docking station or the satellite dish. A flat panel HDTV and WI-FI INTERNET rounds out the entertainment options.
The house comes with passes to all the amenities; some interesting reading material about the whaling ships that used to travel from the Northern Coast to San Francisco and a variety of books on the flora and fauna of the Pacific Coast and binoculars.
THE LIGHTHOUSE IS IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE SONOMA COUNTY TRANSIENT OCCUPANCY TAX LAW AND HAS CERTIFICATE #660N.

the house is light and airy and has great spatial design. the views are great and walking to the bluff trail is easy to do. so far its our favorite place to stay of our VRBO rental. thanks again.
The Sea Ranch area is amazing & a really interesting concept which was conceived in the 60's! Really a lot of history to see @ the lodge & endless walking/biking/running trails, none without awesome views!
The only reason I didn't give the property 5 stars, was because of a mixup when we arrived; after driving 7+ hours, we pulled into raccoon-strewn garbage & previous tenant's leavings... with that said, we called Gordon & he got Jamie on the job within an hour; we went over to the golf course, had a beer & picked up some local knowledge re: the course. When we returned, 2 hours later, the darling house was perfect. We were just 2, so had some extra room. 5 would be a crowd, although seating, beds & bathrooms for all. Two nice masters w/baths downstairs & daybed upstairs; views from everywhere! Loved the sunshades - perfect for privacy, but still muted views. Hot tub in perfect condition, facing the Pacific. Gualala a really interesting, friendly town. We didn't make it to Point Arena... maybe next time? Definitely recommend the "Lighthouse". Gordon & Judy have made this a relaxing, rejuvenating place to spend time. Loved it
The home was so comfortable and charming. The views are great and we loved just walking out the door through the commons down to the beach and tide pools.
The owners were so helpful via email before and during our stay. They were very accommodating of an early checkin. They left great notes thoughout the home to make things easy. We loved our stay and would definitely return.
For the last several years we have rented a home at Sea Ranch for one month. This is the first home that was well maintained inside and out. Very clean, owners provided all you would need to cook, dine, etc. just like your own home. Beautiful views.....and short drive to Gualala to shop or dine if you prefer.
Thank you, Gordon and Judy
Perfect getaway for my daughter (35yr), granddaughter (15yr) and myself! I picked the Sea Ranch Lighthouse for my daughter's birthday weekend from reading the other reviews and we could not of been happier... It was perfect! The house has everything you would ever need.. The hot tub was so relaxing and sitting out on the deck whether it was the morning, afternoon or evening all you heard were the birds and the ocean!!! There were so many deer, rabbits in the fields..it was cool! The house is so comfortable and so clean...it felt like home away from home! We will definitely stay again!!! Thank you Gordon and Judy for making your rental feel so homey and comfortable!!
Our family celebrated an important day on Memorial Day. The Lighthouse was a great place for a family gathering and for a quality time. We loved all the amenities and we were blessed by having the local sheep herd by the house for a day. The Hot Tub was a highlight for the boys! The Seal Beach was another one. We took walks and enjoyed the pool. What a great home!
We had a wonderful stay at the Lighthouse in Sea Ranch. We have been taking a spring break in Sea Ranch for almost 30 years. The Lighthouse property was comfortable and cozy. It is a huge plus to be able to take our dogs along with us now that our children have all grown up. This home was well equipped to make our stay a great one. The floor plan uses space well and makes this home very comfortable while taking advantage of its surrounding scenic beauty. The lush green meadow behind the home had deer grazing each evening and morning. The distant ocean view was both beautiful and relaxing. The dining table gave my wife a central place to relax and complete a challenging puzzle while the hot tub and bbq on the deck gave me a place to enjoy a cocktail and find some relaxation on my own. We will definitely consider returning to this home in the future.
