Climbing Vine Cottage is a custom-designed yurt nestled in an organic vegetable and perennial flower garden near our home. The yurt features a fully equipped, eat-in kitchen (includes chocolate and award winning, locally roasted coffee) with seating for 6. The bathroom is stocked with towels, local soap, shampoo, etc. Sleeping accommodations include a lovely master bedroom (full size bed) with flat screen tv for dvds, fold out futon bed in the living room (full size) and two twin beds in the loft. In the winter months the yurt stays cozy with a thermostat-controlled wood pellet stove (pellets are provided). The stone patio offers outdoor dining, a gas grill and fire pit. The wildflower field, only steps away, connects to a nature preserve and Van Buskirk Gorge with many waterfalls. Guests are welcome to harvest berries, fruit and vegetables from the orchard and garden. High speed wireless internet is also included.
Beautiful Cottage Seeks Ideal Guest: Comfortable, artfully designed, hand crafted yurt nestled into vibrant garden seeks visitors for memorable stay. If you like nature, hiking and gorge walks, if you are tired of cookie cutter hotel rooms or antique stuffed B & B's, if you want something unique and delightful let's get together for one night or many weeks! Hey, I know I'm just a 'luxury apartment in the round' but who says places can't have personality! Please write my caretaker and come visit me!
Talk About Kid Friendly!: Climbing Vine Cottage began as a playground and school for young gardeners. Small hands helped grow fruits, vegetables and flowers for their families and our local soup kitchen Loaves and Fishes. Children have raised butterflies, caught frogs and identified bugs. The yurt was our classroom. In the garden you'll find the cedar tool shed neatly organized with high quality child-sized tools and children's gardening books. In the yurt children will be delighted to sit at the child's table for 4 and use the beading, drawing, collage and clay materials we always keep in stock. There's a play kitchen, tea set and apron, plus baskets with legos and a train set and a well-stocked children's book shelf. Additionally you'll find kid-friendly-adaptive-devices like a step stool, potty seat, and low bench.
For adults without kids don't worry, when we know you're coming we place these materials out of the way, on shelves, etc.
Perfect for a Romantic Getaway: Climbing Vine Cottage makes it easy to find the time for each other. Cook together in a beautiful kitchen or get take out. Cozy up by the fire or climb in bed and watch a DVD. Better yet, climb up to the loft to watch the stars. Explore the forest and gorge in privacy surrounded by peace and beauty.

About Michelle Menter
I grew up on this land hiking the gorge, playing in waterfalls and riding horses in the pasture. After traveling throughout Europe, the Middle East and India and living in San Francisco I came back home to build a house here so my children could also experience the beauty of living close to nature. Family members helped to build the yurt which originally served as the school house for my children's gardening program. My dad and I are avid gardeners and orchardists. It's our pleasure to offer warm hospitality to travelers seeking a unique yurt experience!

Unique weekend get away for couples or small family
Toasty warm little get away yurt. Beautiful decor and lovely staging. When you walk in in feels welcoming and relaxing. Listened to radio, played yatzee and walked in the woods with our small dogs. Loved that you could walk the dogs around the property and enjoy a cozy wintery weekend. Very clean and felt newish. Fresh eggs from the chicken if you wanted to get some. Michelle was welcoming and very sweet. Would recommend.
Lovely, restful weekend
We had a lovely time - the yurt was large and comfortable. My kids enjoyed the loft, and we all loved the pellet stove. The trails on the property were beautiful and we would have loved to have spent more time on them. Michelle was very helpful. We can't wait to return!
Wonderful family adventure
We have rented Michelle's lovely yurt twice now. The first time with our 2 little kids-in November last year. It was so interesting, warm and inviting. Woken up bees that came into the yurt was our only issue, so we left a day early since my daughter is allergic. Michelle was very understanding. We just came back from our second visit today, and it was perfect. Although it is winter, the yurt is warm, cozy & clean. Our kids just loved it. She even has a corner with crafts and games for little ones. We will be back! It is a great getaway adventure. My 4 year old was literally crying on the way home, "I want to go back to the yurt!!!" Great location and experience for all.
Beautiful and restorative escape!
This was our second stay at the yurt, and once again, it was a wonderful experience for me and my daughters. They yurt is the perfect nature getaway, peaceful and restorative. Its clever and charming design provides the perfect level of comfort while providing for all of our needs. Michelle is a thoughtful and welcoming host. Though we had a much later than planned arrival, the light was on and the wood stove was providing warmth and cheer throughout the space. We will definitely be returning!
