Enjoy all Muskoka has to offer from this Chalet-style cottage within walking distance of Windermere Village. The sun shines all day on the dock with a covered seating area for shade lovers. A gradual sandy lake bottom invites young and old to enjoy a leisurely swim. There is adequate depth for a motorboat (tenant provided) to tie up at the dock. The large deck at the cottage is shaded by tall maples and pines and provides lots of seating area for family and friends to gather.
Bright, updated kitchen with windows that open to the lake mixes nicely with the vintage charm of pine wall boards and beamed cathedral ceiling with north-facing skylights. Dining and living areas have lovely lake views through the large windows, yet retain their privacy. For cool evenings there is a Vermont Castings wood stove which makes for cozy gatherings. The upstairs master queen bedroom has a cathedral ceiling, balcony and wonderful lake view.
Whether enjoying the peaceful lake views or walking to the Windermere Golf & Country Club for a game of tennis or golf, your vacation can be as relaxing or active as you choose. Picnic lunches on the dock, swimming and canoeing (canoe and paddles provided) all afternoon, relaxing as the sun sets behind the point, then gathering to play cards or board games. The days can pass in peaceful relaxation.
The newly refurbished Windermere House Hotel is a seven minute walk up the road and offers three different restaurants for a variety of dining experiences. Twenty minutes by boat or car gets you to the charming villages of Rosseau, Port Carling or Bracebridge where shopping, antiquing and entertainment options abound. Great roads for running and biking and nearby farms offer horseback riding. If an active vacation is what you are looking for, this is an ideal location.
Our family has been coming to this property for 125 years and cherishes the casual lifestyle and opportunity to unwind and re-connect with family and friends. The 'Chalet' was built in 1965 and has been lovingly and meticulously maintained and updated over the years. Once visited, Muskoka claims a place in your heart and then calls you back.

Our stay at "The Chalet" was perfect. The cottage is decorated with a wonderful blend of "Olde Muskoka" charm, consisting of unique mementos from the past, functional upholstered chairs and a sofa, and the odd interesting antique. The cottage was clean and neat, and had all modern conveniences.
The cottage boast a perfect blend of privacy and accessibility: chipmunks, white tailed deer, ravens, orioles, peewees, and warblers abound in the forest behind the chalet. The village of Windermere, and Windermere Golf and County Club are within walking distance. For swimming lovers, it doesn't get any better: you can wade in along the sandy bottom at the shoreline, or jump in off the sturdy dock.
This is a truly unique rental property: the owners are very gracious to share this property with others.
Paradise found! First time renting last summer. Have rented other Muskoka properties and this was by far our best experience. Counting the days until our return!
Property is loaded with history. Owners are next door in original cottage, friendly and helpful yet unobtrusive. Cottage was meticulous on arrival. Spacious living areas, kitchen facilities and front deck facing lake. On private road so little traffic. Dry boathouse with both covered and open area for sunning. One bay over from Windermere which has a general store, golfing, boat rental and marina in addition to Windermere House and its three restaurants. Actual bay that cottage is on is very quiet, with both shallow and deeper entry. This is definitively a cottage worth looking into. Please feel free to contact if you have any questions.
